  3. I'm the USC and my biggest adjustment has been having to explain to my wife's family that the entire country doesn't shut down for 2-3 weeks at the end of the year and that we can't visit every December because it would use every minute of my paid time off, every year. And, don't get me started on the 22 holidays/year they have off vs my 8!

Lol.... Tell me about it My wife is from Brazil and its something I have to explain to the family every year.... I feel your pain.. :D

  4. Hi all. I have been lurking on this site for a while since I sent I130 on january 28th 2016 for my spouse.

I have finally gotten the nerve to ask a question.

I (USC)met my wife about 12 years through a shared acquaintance on a chatroom. About a year later she came from Brazil to the US on a Tourist Visa to meet me. At the time of her arrival It was love. We spent every moment together she was here. Finally when it was time for her to leave. I took a deep breath and told her how I felt and how I didnt want to lose her. I convinced her to stay and we were married at city hall on August of 2005. We were in the process of saving money and getting all documents ready to start AOS and petition for her daughters. When in early November she received news her Mom had a stroke and might not make it. She was so inconsolable and I felt so bad I told her to return and see her mom. That we would take care of things later.

Her mom passed before she arrived. Things got more complicated because her mom was taking care of her 2 daughters from a previous relationship. So I told her that I would bring them all. Unfortunately the father of the girls was against the idea and he did everything possible to make sure my wife could not bring them. The Father did not want to have full custody of the daughters but would not relinquish custody either. Through some background negotiating the judge sided with the father.

My wife was now stuck between being with me and abandoning her girls. I told her to stay and we would see what would happen.

Anyways in 5 years nothing changed but we kept in contact calling. I did not see her because of financial and work reasons. Finally in 2010 i was in a better position and was able to go see her and meet the girls in person. I must say I was more in love with her and the girls than ever and I reaffirmed to myself I would wait for my wife. Since 2010 I have travelled to Brasil once a year staying 30 days each time with my family. Now the girls are old enough we dont need permission. And i have petitioned for them.

Now my question is. Will the interviewer automatically think denial because of the first 5 years I couldn't visit her? Because really at that time I did not have the resources or time to to go to Brasil.

Another question is the chatroom that we met on was MSN chat which is not around anymore. I don't have any transcripts for it, also the acquaintance that introduced us is dead. Will this be a problem.

I guess my overall question is. Will I finally be made whole again with my wife and beautiful daughters? Will it be very hard?

    Thank you.

  5. Guys, would you please not leave for FB and hang around here? Some of us still are here and it would be sad to truly be alone here ;)

hey I'm still here. I"m one of the new Potomac filers PD 2/1/16 I've been here many times and prayed for all of you. and I have used your journeys to help me prepare for mine. Its a good feeling when each one lets us know they were approved. Good luck to all. and thank you. I have learned alot from your post.

  6. Hey everyone.

I wanted to give back to the community that helped my wife and I be together in June 2014, so I created an app called 'VisaProcess'.

It is a task based app that takes you through the steps of the visa process, along with the option to read or leave tips for every step. Finally it generates a timeline of how long it would take your case to complete based on historical data of similar dates.

It is available on both Android and iPhone.

The app is 100% free to use with no ads, and I'm not selling anything. I'm a developer by trade and actually built it for myself. A friend mentioned how valuable it might be to the masses, and so here I am offering it to everyone with hopes that it will become another valuable tool in your process.

Right now it is in English, but is being translated to Spanish, and then eventually French.

Good luck on your visa petitions!

Hi. I used your app to get my package together.

I think its great. It was very helpful. Thank you very much.

  7. You have the same filing date as mine. Mine isn't in the system as well. The last receipt number that was entered from Potomac was a petition filed January 19th receipt # YSC1690003505. Any receipt number after that shows an error message when entered. They seem to take a long time to update their system :/

Thank you for replying. And im sorry that you are also experiencing this. But at least now I know its not just me. We should keep in touch and keep each other informed about our journeys. May God grant us quick and easy passage through this bureacracy.

  8. so I have my Receipt Number from Potomac but after 19 days it is still not recognized by the status tool. Is that normal?

when will I be able to get info through the USCIS website? How much longer should I wait to get my receipt number recognized by the USCIS website? Should I call? I know that it is a long process for my Spouses IR1 but I would feel better if the Tool recognized my number. sorry just worried.
