  1. Got about 5 text messages earlier today that our status had changed-- checked the USCIS website and our status was "Interview Complete, Case Under Review"  Then tonight... another text message--- "Card in Production"  We are in the home stretch!  Best of luck to all of the November filers for a quick approval-- especially to team Mexico and Team San Diego!

We've all gone through this process together.  We've shared frustration, triumphs, and the great process of waiting.  Thank you to all of you who have posted.  Just knowing others are going through the same thing was a great comfort and helped us through this process!  See you back here in two years!!! :)   And not a moment sooner!!! :)

  2. We had our interview yesterday in San Diego.  We showed up at the office about 45 minutes early and went through security.  The officer called our name and we went into the interview together.  The case officer was very polite and professional; she sore us in and asked my wife to tell her about how we met and asked to see her passport.  My wife's passport expired since she arrived and we took the old one which had her K1 and old tourist visa in it (glad we did this)!  The case officer asked a lot of questions about my wife's travel into the USA (lifetime travel).  She wanted to know about each trip, the date, how long she stayed, and which visa she entered and exited with.  Some of this travel was more than 10 to 15 years ago and my wife didn't know the exact dates.  She asked about our wedding, who was there, where was it.... then she asked some (not all) of the questions on the I-485 form (have you ever committed a crime, harmed anyone, been in a paramilitary force, etc).  I showed her our tax return, bank statements, car insurance, health insurance, car registration.  I didn't print out photos and the case officer said she didn't want to look at the ones in my phone.  After that was all over, she made copies of my wife's passport and K1 visa and said we would have a decision within 30 days.  We were kind of disappointed not to get a decision on the spot.  The idea of waiting another month just seems frustrating :(.   We are hoping, like with others that have posted, that the decision comes in a couple days.

I checked my email today from the US Postal Service informed delivery-- a letter from USCIS is being delivered today!  I really want to leave work and go get the letter from the mailbox! :)  I figure it is:

    1. A notice to go interview (even though our status is still "Fingerprint Fees Received"

    2. A response to my case inquiry about why our case is taking so long-- which no doubt says the USCIS is right on schedule as long as they process this decade :)

    3. Other

In any case, I'm just glad to know something is moving!

The letter from USCIS arrived today.  It is a notice to go to the interview on August 10th.  Good luck to everyone.  Now its time to gather our documents again. :)

Any AOS filers here in California Bay Area? I am filing my AOS from a K1 visa. I got my EAD and AP already, and am waiting for the interview notice. My case has been active for 220 day since biometrics!! While the average processing time for local field office is only 205 days(btw biometrics to interview date)...No REF was requested or anything. I think my patience is starting to wear out. lol

On a side note, I wonder if we could show up for an AOS interview a couple of weeks earlier than the interview notice? We have a wedding scheduled out of the country and the only time slot our family can make it will be mid September. I am worried that it would clash with the interview date.

    Thank you!

San Diego here.  Our case is a little before you and we are still waiting, too.  My patience wore out 3 months ago... haha!  Keep positive and live your life.  The US Government will get to our cases eventually. :)

Same position here, stuck on fingerprint fee was recieved since 11/29.

Just hoping to get all sorted before needing another medical....

I hadn't even thought of needing another medical exam!  haha!  Let's hope we get some news soon.  I have had good luck with USCIS approvals happening on Friday night around 9pm.  I hope today will be the day for both of us.  Looks like we have similar timelines.

  7. I wanted to see if any November filers are still "STUCK" on fingerprint fees received.  I called USCIS on Monday to see why its taking so long.  The lady said it was still within posted processing times (blah, blah, blah) and they process in order received (blah, blah, blah).

Anyway, I still have hope this will be approved this will get approved this month.  I cannot imagine what is taking so long.  Happy for all of you that have received your approvals and hope to join your ranks soon.  It's getting lonely in the November area haha!  I might have to join the December or January filers forum so I have somebody to talk to. :)

Mine never went to case ready for interview either, sometimes they don't even update it on the website & they just send you the interview letter in the mail. That's what happened to me and a few other people on VJ. Hopefully you get it soon!

Thank you-- that is good info to know.  We are assigned to the San Diego Office... which is one of the slower ones in the nation.  Just my luck!  haha!

Update: No updates yet! My case is still at "Fingerprints received". It is stressful that it doesnt even get to "Case ready to interview" like a lot of people here did. Any reason why it is like that?

I'm with you, too.  Stuck on fingerprints received since 11/16.  Biometrics done back in December.  As a prior posters have said-- pinot grigio and vodka is the remedy to this waiting.  Speaking on behalf of Team Mexico, I say tequila works well, too! :)

I am curious about this also.  Has anyone had any issues with this especially after trump  took over?

My wife went to Mexico on her combo card.  She re-entered the USA via the Cross Border Express bridge from the Tijuana Airport to San Diego.  No issues at all.  She carried copies of her paperwork, our marriage certificate, the NOA1, etc.  No hassles so she never showed it.

    hi everyone,

first time poster here. Came on a K1 visa in October, filed for AOS in November. NOA1 recieved 30th Nov 2016, biometrics done 12/23. I received my combo card end of February, for the AOS it's been stuck on fingerprint fee recieved since 11/30, no RFE, getting super frustrated that it hasn't changed.

I'm in the same spot.  very frustrating as the approvals seem very random relative to the NOA1 dates.

If you're still on fingerprint fee your case has not left the NBC for your local office and you can still get a direct approval from the NBC. In which case your local office processing time does not matter.

I just never trust the USCIS system.  I imagine a room with giant stacks of files, dust and cob webs on some of them; and my file is on the bottom!  haha!  I dream of waking up with a status change text message!

  13. Just did the same on my taxes.  You are confused because you elected to file joint and have to pay tax like she was a resident all year.  If you look at the instructions for the form, you should qualify under exemption code C.  You will need to declare the months she was insured and the months she wasn't on the form so that it matches up if the IRS actually checks on what your company reported.  However, Trump could get rid of Obamacare all together... so it might be ok.

  14. This was mentioned in an earlier post, but its pretty cool and wanted to share it.  If you go to www.usps.com you can sign up for MY USPS.  You can enroll in the package dashboard and in the Informed Mail dashboard.  It sends you a message anytime someone sends you a priority mail package or certain types of letters.  They have an app for your phone, too.

I see that our EAD card was shipped today and there is another letter from USCIS waiting in my mailbox (probably a response saying to my service request).  Pretty cool service!
