I cant sit down... I am jumping up and down... Its finally OVER!!! I just received my Green Card...
Status still says card is being produced but who cares anymore??? LOL... It came via priority mail
and MYUSPS let me track it from the moment they printed the postage all the way to my mailbox!
Its the old design(which i kinda like more than the new design!) and all the information is correct...
    Now its time to celebrate!!!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped me out with this process on VJ and for sharing your
experiences with me... this was my relaxation every day, reading posts here, knowing other people
are going thru the same exact things i was...

P.S. Now its time for vacation and spending time with my family before sister's wedding in India...
Fingers crossed and my thoughts and prayers are with each of you, hoping all of you get good news
soon... I am going to post this in the May, April and March 3017 AOS filers topics as thats were i got all the
    help from...
    Best of luck!!!

i-485s are processed at the local office after initial processing if i understand this correctly so u shud be checking your local office's processing times for i-485... Best of luck with your process...

Congratulations!!! that's a lucky break coz i thought USPS could not do such things with mail coming from USCIS as it is of a sensitive nature and has to be delivered to the written address itself, but anyways I'm happy that you got through that without too much trouble... best of luck with the rest of your process...

    congratulations...

I am surprised that you ran into that problem @Jessleb and you are right about the fact that we haven't seen many posts stating that they had a similar problem, hopefully its just a clerical error and fixed fast... Best of luck and gooooo Bills!!!

@Cynthia68 in New York state you do need the SSN to get a drivers license... If you don't have one and cant get one, you need to get a letter from the social security office stating that you are not eligible to get one or that you cant get one at this point in time, and bring it with you, that's what i had to do when i went to get mine...

ddddgggg.visa reacted to Hope&Love in AOS interview approved. Any question for me?
This is a standard way to organize files but it worked for me. I had 2 packages of files: Personal documents & Bona fide marriage documents.
The personal document package includes IDs, passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate, etc - Originals & copies.
Bona fide marriage document package includes banks, assets, insurance, bills, etc - Originals & Copies.

When the OI asks for personal docs at the beginning, hand them both originals and copies and tell them that copies are for theirs to keep. Same goes with Bona Fide marriage docs. They will greatly appreciate you make copies. After the interview, you should keep all of original docs.

    Good luck

Hello everyone, I've been quiet on the forums for several weeks in part to preserve my sanity through the long waiting, but I've been keeping up with everyone's progress through the weekly digest, so I thought I should also share my update.

I got a surprise text and email on Saturday telling me my EAD has been approved and a card was being mailed (it took 113 days). This was without any RFE/RFIE or expedite requests. No updates on AP or GC yet.

    Good luck everyone!

    DorothyLa,

I worked at McDonald's for 3 years and paid many bills with that job when I was your age (in Florida!).  It also taught me so much about life.  That is noble work.  Keep going.  University education is nice but not necessary.  I work for a fortune 100 company as a network engineer now.  I never graduated from college.

When you get through to the first person, explain you have an issue and are outside of normal processing times and specifically say ''can I speak to a Tier 2 officer''.
Those officers have more back end information on your file...

I could be 100% wrong but I don't think the RFE/RFIE happens in every case...
You only get an RFE/RFIE if there is something missing or they want additional evidence... (in my case, there was a birth certificate they wanted)

... they are over the deadline to provide the EAD card however... so if it was me I'd be bugging the Tier 2 officers daily for help
I'd only contact a congressman as a last resort. If you look at some of the threads of earlier filers for some reason some applications take longer than others but usually there is movement eventually

It is frustrating waiting. When I went for my citizenship interview, I was told by the officer ''in two weeks you will get a decision in the mail''. That turned into a 2 month wait with no answer... finally getting a request for more paperwork in the mail and another month of waiting after that. They have so many applications and some of the offices take longer than others... good luck

@nikaero hopefully i get some update next week. Thanks.
@Californiansunset I will do an expedite request. Thanks for the information. How long did it take for you to get an update after you expedited your request?

What was the generic reply? They have two generic replies, one says it's within processing and one is it's under review. When it's under review it means that someone is working on your case. You can always call them and ask them if there is anything wrong with your case or if you might have missed a letter. They probably refer you to a tier 2 officer who can see a bit more in the system. It can't hurt to ask questions. Your local office will only get your AOS application when it's ready to be scheduled for an interview.

    Hope this helps you.

mine starts with MSC too... i think AOS timing just depends mainly on local office if you have to have an interview and the rest like EAD and AP take very similar amount of time for everyone(+ or - 15 to 20 days)... of course there will be extremes on both sides of the norm...

Green cars, or any other color cars, are not necessary, although, in my opinion, everyone, if they drive, should be driving green cars at some point if we want to save the environment.

Bring your green card and any other immigration documents you may have, driver's license or state ID, passport, and oath letter.

They'll go through each and every Q on N-400! Be ready to state:
    - total nr. of trips, cumulative days of absence, month and approx. days of absence for trips in the last year.
    - all your previous addresses and exact dates of residence.
    - Answer questions clearly and completely.
    - Talk about something only if you are asked to do so. Be succinct and to the point.
Bring 2 passport photos, even if invitation letter didn't state.
Don't sit down until you are told to do so. Don't place your documents on his/her desk without asking permission.
Listen carefully what IO tells you, follow his/her directions.
Read through every document IO gives you carefully; sometimes inadvertent errors slip in; use opportunity to correct them on the spot.

I brought several hundred pages of original documents, I was asked for none.
I didn't feel like IO asked me anything that I shouldn't have known already.
My IO was professional, clear, succinct, and to the point.

We have almost the same dates. I'm not in the same position as you with work or driving.

A key thing I remind myself of is that I'm with my partner, no longer separated by ocean for long periods and living in far less uncertainty.

Of course there are going to be a handful of exceptions, both early and late, but the 8 months is the average, meaning the majority will be at or around that time frame.  This would be backed by those witnessed cases as well.  And if anyone is going to bank on actually being the exception, bank on the latter due to the recent slowdown that cut N-400 processing in half this quarter.  Yes, half.

I only say all this because I am reading posts in here about people already stressing out and checking their status every hour a mere 51 days into the process, let alone 7-8 months, and I'm suggesting a more relaxed perspective might be in order or it's really going to be a long spring and summer for them.

People can do what they want of course though.
