  1. So you are going to shoot your own husbands, brothers, parents, grandparents.

...50% of the abusers were parents of the children. 18% were relatives. This means that almost 70% of children were molested by family members.

Your own family friends make up another 25% of abusers so now you have to keep any friends out of your homes.

About 5% of child abusers are strangers...

....and research shows that most abusers were once abused themselves as children. Where do you stop???

Do some reasearch into your own family histories. There will be abuse in there maybe?

Now there is a paradox - To kill your own flesh and blood to protect your own flesh and blood.

  2. ooohhh Mrswhizz lost her ring after a drink or two... ain't she evil... lets all gossip and haul her over hot coals... lets all kneel and prayyyy tittle tattle. Have you lives??

Big faking deal..... My wife played with that ring all the time, twizzling it round her finger day and nighht. Looking at it glisten, the rainbow colours shooting off it in the light, even though it was cheap ....as cheap as your comments ....but she loved it. She'd have lost it stoney cold sober too, pissed outta her skull she would have maybe have left it alone. Maybe? Who the hell knows.... oh You lot do.... I forget the Visajudgejury & executioners.

When did a few drinks become Drunk...

Read your own tag Gimpy - The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.”

~Winston Churchill~ ....carry on in your ignorance.

....Oh by the way Winston Churchill was a renowned British Drunkard and cigar stoking hero.

Another famous Churchill Quote... "Sir" (to Winston) "You are DRUNK". "Ahhh Madam you are Ugly but I will be sober in the morning....."

    Lets go start WWIII.....

  3. I had a job lined up through my father in law but the Ford plant is now closing down so i will just have to apply everywhere i can think of. I might go back into retail for the money but i don`t really want to. Otherwise i will perhaps take a trip to unionjobs.com and learn a trade and get medical etc. A union job is where it`s at over there.

I'm sorry about the job. A union job, like On The Waterfront cool!

I tell you the accent may get you a great retail job. I was told about a British guy, a right crook and con man, who sells some ####### over there and makes big money. His customers think the English don't or can't lie, they trust the accent!?!? .............Those women flocking round urrggghhhh.... "Saaaaya Saaamthin, I louurrve yuuur akkssssaant" Tell 'em to flock off and they squeal with joy wetting their pants, and I mean UK pants not US pants.

...good luck in whatever you end up doing Yabasta.

  4. Lover not accountant  not seen much loving nor money recently either.

I know what you mean about expensive. I sent a guitar amp, a small one for £100 wrapped in a quilt going on a slow boat. too much ££ Clothes, already left lots over there too the winter coats I ain't gonna need, N Carolina well hot.... the rest of the possessions I'm not too fussed about, mostly vintage half knackered 50's 60's stuff. I am a second hand freak so Yard Sales & thrift stores in the US gonna be my stalking ground  mrswhizz has been doing a grand job fitting the US end out finding cool retro Americania furniture, she found our little dream home to rent last week & she's gonna move in there soon

Mostly It's the records and a guitar or two, perhaps the newish computer I'm worried about this end... .... been selling quite a lot of discs on ebay the last 6 months but that pisses me off it's so slow and it hurt's... Owch ...another load ends tonight ....sad;¬( .....most the music I like is US 60's garage / psyche. So the stuff I'm selling here i hope to find there for cheaper... yeah in my dreams.

I found somewhere that'll ship 100 square foot for £900 door to door I can't afford it, too much debt already with immigration & mrswhizz living here a year & not able to work legally you know the story. Gonna end doing the same as you & leaving with family and invite them over if they bring a box with em'

What about work?? are you going to find it easy. Those Americans work long hours for their meagre bucks!!! No EEC employment regulations there, the employers hold all the cards. It's like socialism never happened!!! I found my dream work place just gotta send some positivity that way and hope that synchronicity exists.....lol .... I shall be perfecting my queens english accent and lose some of the midlander in it..........

  5. No bible was involved, it was just raise your right hand. I can`t remember though if he said "so help you god" or not. I just waited for him to finish and said "i do"(i think we might be married now).

    LOL

The band was thankfully nothing anti-american sounding but the website is now useless for meeting a spouse(haha). The band was Hole.

Ahhhh Courtney, love her (F) (when she sings eerrr sorry expresses her deepest anger), the wife does too.... A good place to start a romance (L)

The Embassy guy looked kind of like David Duchovny when he didn`t smile but not really as much as when he smiled. His hair was too short too.

A mod look could be bad but not as bad as say a Lennon cut. The hut was very much a burger van type thing but with a metal detector in it instead of a frying worktop thingy.

lol....... I have the 60's Garage Look too .........in fact that is more USy than the UK mod style so I'll try it....

No pin ups that i recall but i was not in there long.

thanks for all the well wishes everybody.

When are you off have you your tickets?

& What did you do with the record collection.... I'm worrying about mine... Getting expensive shipping with the P.O.........

  6. I was kinda hedging my bets....

Staying with the UK passport, then Mrswhizz and I will always have the option of returning to the UK then go live in France......

but then again the deportation laws seem slightly harsh for a misdemeaner. I found it hard keeping to the right side of the road or is it the left??? .........I'll be staying to the sidewlks and keeping off the grass.

  7. No charge for saturday but then the basic charge was £13.50 at the embassy so i would not expect to pay more unless it was delivered in a golden envelope.

Like in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.... You won the golden ticket, every bodies Dream... let me in .........let me in Mr Wonka......... :innocent: so thats what the W stands for in GWB.........

  8. Well today i had my interview. First things first.

So yeah it all went smoothly.

I arrived at the embassy just before 9 a.m. and saw a big line of people outside standing in the road(which has been closed and looks like it will be for some time. The embassy is now surrounded by a big thick fence and has lots of armed po po doing patrols and staring at you to see if you look dodgy i guess. I tried to avoid looking like a terrorist.

....do you think a 1960's mod look is too edgey for the interview?? :P

A guy from the embassy in a blue jacket(like the FBI etc wear) with American embassy or something on the back of his jacket told people to line up 9.30 and earlier on the left and later on the right. I swear though that he smiled at one point and looked just like David Duchovny.

    ...only when he smiled???

Eventually the line moved. The guy checked my letter and passport and sent me up the road aroudn the outside of the make shift fence and into the little security hut. Airport style scan. So then you walk all the way around outside the building past the sentry and around to the visa entrance at the side of the building. Then he tells you to switch off mobile phone and go up the stairs to the left. You go through take a number from the woman and then you sit down and wait for your number to be called.

A hut like a building site??? Was there a Tea Urn and Pin-ups?

I sat down with number 11 and waited. They were callign out 242 and numbers like that which at first confused me. Then i realised immigrant visas had low numbers and other visas had higher numbers. So yeah i eventually got in the building by about 9.47 (when i turned my phone off). I got called up after a short wait an dhad to go to the window and he asked for my paperwork. I handed him all that was required and he handed back some stuff i had included which was not required. He copied my documents which i had not done. I was expecting to pay $1 for each one but he did not charge me. He then gave me the courier form to fill out while i waited and sent me back to my seat with my x ray which he said i need to take when i fly. I dunno why. I didn`t see anybody else with one. He told me i had 6 months to travel and as my wife said since i don`t have that long. haha.

X-Ray when you fly!!! MMMmmm.... that is very strange....

So then eventually i get called to a different window and this is the interview proper i guess. He said hi and the first question he asked me was how i met my wife. I said it was a band website and he asked which one.

Which One then Yabasta?? really I wanna know.... Not the....... OK I won't go there

He aske dhow long we had known each other, asked if i was living in GA when we married. Asked what my wife did for a living , asked what i did and my in laws. He also asked who my co sponsor was and if my wife had any children. He asked how old the child was and he asked what i intended to do for work in America.

Oh yeah and he made me raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth before that.

    was a bible involved??

Then it was the usual airport style fingerprint scans. He then said that the fingerprint checks take a few minutes and is borign to watch so he said that he woudl assume they are o.k. and let me go. He was friendly enough as everybody there was, it was just the place that was cold and unfriendly. So then i took my form to the courier desk and paid the £13.50. The letter i got said £9.50 but this was of course a lie. ha. Then i came out of the embassy and called my wife from the park on my mobile. I hung up when she answered and she called me back on our calling card.

Then i came home and made this post. Hope it helps put some minds at rest. The process was straight forward as i expected. Some waiting involved and that was it really.

At least the wait was shorter than the wait for your interview..... How many extra grey hairs and stress lines have you???

So again thanks for all your help everybody. I have asked for help a lot and so has my wife. Usually people have been very understanding and helful. It has been a long hard road but by the end of the week i will have my visa.

Thank you all and good luck to all those still waiting for their trip to the most protected waiting room in London.

Thank you Yabasta for your sensible advice .....a voice of sanity in here.... to me any how.. ;) and the humour.

Good Luck, Bon Voyage and every Happiness with your Wife in the US of A.... :star:

  9. timesnap, take a chill pill and stop trying to predict how the government, in all its wisdom, operates. Don't you have better things to do before your holiday? Everything will evolve and we'll all eventually have a resolution. Relax. Everything will work out for the best.

Do not take a "chill pill" you will fail the medical test and never get to the USA ever.

Jersey, drugs are not the answer to all your problems.

  10. but Americans in general are not told the truth.

I was there last for 3 weeks. I saw no news reports about Iraqi, I got back to England and the first news broadcast I saw was; explosion in Iraq, soldiers killed, civilians killed. It happens every day. The truth is out there yes, but does every American go searching the web for truth. No!! They watch the news broadcasts and believe they are told the truth. they are told insubstantial snippets so as not to spoil the good feelings of the nation.

America help other countries... yes true but if you look at the stats the percentage help is mimimal. Sorry but you'll have to find the evidence ones self... the Truth really is out there.

I would agree with you that corporate mass media over here is sub-par at best, but making generalisations about the sorts of people who watch it is rather racist IMO. Sorry.

    whoops,

........not trying to be racist, I meant that not everyone watching the news will go and find out what is really happening. It is impractable!! People do believe that the news is telling them the facts. When in fact it is a sanitised version of truth or half truths and sometimes downright lies.

I watch the box, too much sometimes. I just found it strange. No insult intended to the viewers. It was the programmers and news editors I was criticising.

Just a note why did you think I was being rascist / making generalisations this time?? I still can't see it I'm trying to be careful :(

  12. Wow, I've just read over this thread as a bystander.

Everybody needs to lighten up a bit. Godsavethequeen has every right to state his opinion about the U.S. or any other country as everyone else here. It's when you start telling him or anyone else to essentially shut up then it's a problem.

Has he been offensive? Perhaps to some, but I don't detect any deliberate malice in his posts (minus the name-calling but he didn't start that).

Take a few breaths everyone and lighten up...for Crikey Sake!

    hooray and thankyou xxxx

  13. 1. no helmets, headers cause brain damage - Safety first for US sports! The balls are lighter now so damage is minimal. But sticking ones head in a crash helmet can increase the temperature in the brain causing swelling that can crush the skull eventually.

    2. games too long - 45 mniutes each Half?? I thought American football and baseball lasted the whole day long!!

    3. too many hooligans - The hooligan is mainly gone from the terraces these days, it is just on the pitch now. A bit like Ice Hockey.

    4. just plain boring - yes some nil / nil draws can get a bit tedious. Big points man big prizes!!

    5. no snazzy uniforms or halftime shows - Hey fancy pants :D some of those kits are rather attractive, Aston Villa comes to mind!! and for half time entertainment we have Pies.

(These comments are in humour - No insult intended to any nation) :(:)

What kind of pies? I like peach with vanilla ice cream. ;)

    Meat pies I'm afraid.... yuck!

  14. :help: One more time,

where & how have I insulted Americans?? Show me.... please!!!!!!!!!

My wife is American, my wifes family are American, if we have children they'll be American.

  16. Death threat ....see what I mean!! OK the guys not serious I hope!! but that does not help the stereotype go away, hey?? ... these broad generalisations (which are ironic) have been honed from comments from some VJers. I have visited the US on 3 occassions and loved it. I had no problems, a few strange anomalies though!!

    and all I have been trying to say is;

why can't someone express an opinion here on VJ without being told not to come to the US because they hate the country. I have never said once I hate it. Not once.

...and by Teletubbies do you mean the Kids (eh oh) TV show or the couch potatoes?

  17. .......please criiticise away.

I ain't going to jump down anyones throat for expressing opinions as long as they listen to an opinion back.

It seems like I talk a different language to everyone else here sometimes, at least my American Wife understands, and actually has similiar ideas too.

  18. From the future eh? Is godsavethequeen still a chopfcuk even then? I suspect yes

...and that ain't a personal insult.

...and I like America, it is just certain American attitudes I have a problem with.

I know Britian is not perfect, I never pretended it was. there is a list somewhere in here I started; things I don't like about the UK. but at least I can say that without being threatened with death or a gagging order by the conservative right. Why are you so paranoid?

.........and my wife has been here in the UK with me for over a year. Now it is my turn to live in her country and I was really looking forward to it but the opinions, attitudes and defensiveness from members here have made me cautious and afraid that I will come to harm for being how I am everyday.

I work in a poncy art gallery for christ sake I'm artsy and creative-minded. I walk a different path sometimes. I'm not off the rails just a bit off target sometimes but you can't accept that people are different and love the differences.

At this moment my Asian neighbours are playing Bhangra music, whilst the Portugese up the road celibrate their world cup win over England. I ain't telling them to become British in mind, attitude and hearts. they are who they are and I love them for it. ....and they do have a sense of humour.

Love to all my VJ friends.

  19. I tried to start taking OMEGA 3 in some vegetarian capsules like cod liver oil ones but vegetarian (I hate fish!) and I also did take some cod liver oil capsules and I got very very bad trapped wind. I couldnt stop burping it made me feel so uncomfortable. Has anyone else had that and if so what did ya do? I feel I should take this as I dont eat any fish oils and im getting old lol

    Lina

That I believe are the side effects of your brain expanding. The air in the skull needs to escape somehow.... ;)

....that is a joke before I'm misunderstood.

  20. coo coo.

    everything here is fluffy thanks

.......you start personal insults and I go back to the playground where I was bullied for years. It took me a long time to start expressing myself, now with this immigration process I learn I have no right to express any of my crazy opinions without being told to shoot myself !!

What don't you like about hearing a different flavour of thought. I forget you only want Vanilla, safe and comfortable.
