  1. My husband has been pulled over at least three times for things like having a hole in his exhaust, a headlight not working, or the tires being under the legal limit. They charged him, with the pink slip etc, but he got it fixed up right away every time and they didn't ever take things further.

    Will this show up on the police record? And should we mention it in the Ds-230 II where it asks if you've been charged. I don't know if this is officially considered being charged, since he wasn't prosecuted or anything.

    Should this affect our application?

    No they won't come up in the check, it is only crime that cones up not traffic violations...:¬)

  2. We used the same photographer that did our wedding. :lol:

    If you're anywhere near York, it's K & L Photography and they charged us 50 pounds.

    £50 for a photo??? :o

    or the entire wedding!!!

    I found a snappy snap near my town and it cost £15 and I thought that was expensive :blink:

    oh & 50cm x 50cm is the photo size for the US....

  3. If you don't like Europe LEAVE :lol:

    Remember you said that when someone refuses you the right to criticise America by saying the same to you ;)

    She was one of those people. but my comment was meant as a joke. Thats why I stuck the laughing head there!

    Homesick can stay in the UK and criticise the UK, if she wants, for as long as she wants, we Brits just don't care. But she wants to leave the UK for some strange reason. ........I'm leaving too :dance:

  4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

    Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

    Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

    Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

    Never been interested in reading these kids books but now I might.

    ...and I agree with charlesandnessa for the first time ever. Ban The Bible, :yes:

    one of my all-time favourite Sci-Fi books - Farenheit 451 is about book burning but not on the list :hehe:

  5. I certainly can't speak for everyone, but attacking the President of the United States, or former Presidents, is essentially the same as attacking the U.S. itself. Though many Americans do the same thing, those Americans that didn't bother to go out and VOTE in the last election, aren't given any real credibility for their complaints. Unless you have voted either for, or against, the current President, you have no real say about what that President, or current administration does.

    News flash... not everyone hates President Bush, or in your case, "loathes" him. Maybe if you toned down your rhetoric a wee bit, it wouldn't come across as being so abrasive. Though many Americans like to complain about our government, we don't take kindly to outsiders having a go at it as well.

    how can attacking, sorry verbally attacking one man be attacking the whole nation?? I can't understand the blindness in that.

    He is the figurehead of your nation?? Well the Queen is my figurehead for now and I loathe her and all Monarchy stands for, Brits really don't care if you attack her we had no chance to vote her in. and I did vote Blair and right now I detest him more than Bush he is figurehead too!! Again you won't get Brits screaming Don't Come Here If You Hate Criticise or Loathe Blair.

    Surely America is more than just one person or the office of one government. Let me and my American friends have an opinion about Bush and Co. Ltd. Even if I can't vote there, I can still disagree with political craziness that may go on there. Is it really the middle ages in the US?? Where it is Treason or Heresy to disagree with the government on some fundamental level??

  6. Oh, believe me...once they issue my husband's visa, we're a dot on the horizon. Want to come to my UK visa-burning party?

    If I was to classify myself I would say I'm a old school anarchist-socialist-green leaning-fool.

    Dime a dozen over here. :lol:

    Hey Homesick I'd love to celebrate your visa burning really I would. I believe borders between nations should be removed, maybe then we'll understand each other better. (Do not call me a hippy I hate Hippies).

    and this made me smile... - from another topic -

    Both my husband and I are:

    * atheists

    * mindful of the environment

    * supportive of public education

    * supportive of public transport

    * in favor of renationalizing the UK's train system

    * against the Iraq war

    * against owning firearms

    * against animal cruelty

    * in favor of sustainable, ethical farming

    Is that you Homesick?? :yes:

    This really sounds like an Anarchist - Socialistic - Green leaning fool to me. You just need to add Improve the NHS and we could start a new political party??

    Good Luck to you and your hubby and Viva le Revolution.

  7. I vote Democrat and used to proudly label myself with the word 'liberal' but I'm loath to use it nowadays. It isn't because I'm ashamed of my beliefs; it's because I think I no longer share a lot of the beliefs of those who now call themselves 'liberals.'

    For example, I don't give a damn if gays want to marry each other. Doesn't affect me. I was and still am against the war in Iraq. I support public education. I support a woman's right to choose. These are standard core liberal beliefs. However, I find myself repulsed by the moral relativism, anti-Americanism, and pro-Socialist tendencies of western European liberalism.

    As we Western Europeans find ourselves repulsed by American Republicism Empire building. Can Europe have no opinion? Do we really have to cowtow to the US world order, there are other nations in this world you know. If you don't like Europe LEAVE :lol:

    If I was to classify myself I would say I'm a old school anarchist-socialist-green leaning-fool.

  8. Wait wait wait....people still take what Clinton says as truth??? :blink:

    We all know Clinton was too busy golfing to catch terrorists.

    I'd still believe Clinton over BUSH any faking day. BUSH is corrupt. Clinton was just foolish enough to get his #######-out not such a #######-up really.

    And was BUSH not cowering in some deep underground bunker post 9/11 to make an appearance in NY for nearly a week?? Bush ain't trying to catch Terrorists really he's trying to mess the middle-east up for good. Then China will take over the dominator game. He's stirred up the world big time :help: .

    My my aren't you one opinionated individual. Did you sit over in the UK your whole life pondering politics in the US, and then take a special interest in the Clinton and Bush presidencies to form these totally unsubstantiated notions of yours? I just find it a little hard to swallow when someone moves here (or is trying to immigrate) to the US and then starts to bash it relentlessly. I certainly don't go to someone elses country and slam it, and I don't appreciate it when someone from another countrly does it to the US.

    :thumbs: everybody wants to slam the usa but they all want to live here

    LOL, I've noticed that too. I know a guy who has lived in the US on various visas since 1978. His kids grew up in the USA and are basically as American as apple pie. ALL HE DOES is ###### and bash the USA. When I told him I was coming back to America (he's English and I live in England) he basically begged me not to return. Yeah, fat chance. He says he's 'thought' about going back to England, but he thinks it would be worse there than it is in the US (true). I tell him not to bite the hand that feeds him, since he could never have been as successful in the UK as he has been in the USA, but all he wants to do is praise Queen and Country but refuses to actually endure the hardships of life in the UK. He's full of ######.

    OK where the hell do I slag off the USA??? George Bush oh yeah I go for him. But where do I bash the US? George Bush is one tyrannical American not the whole freaking nation. I loathe George Bush, yeah OK, so does every American I have met. They can't believe he was ever voted in the first time let alone twice, they are ashamed of him on many levels.

    As for the sitting in the UK pondering US politics. We get international news broadcasts over here, America has a big say in the world. You want me to go back to Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan...... I will, just thought I'd keep to recent history and on topic kinda.

    ... can't any immigrant have an opinion?? Without the whole flag waving fraternity of VJ jumping down my throat saying shut up or don't come here?? Do I have to kiss Fundamentalist Christian Right Wing ####### forever when I go be with my American wife?

    I have no problem with you coming over to the UK and slagging off the Queen (dim heartless tax sucker), Tony Blair (corrupt power crazy warmonger), Princess Diana (publicity seeking neurotic corpse), the weather, the pollution, the accent, our rudeness, the overcrowding, whatever, take your pick, We really don't care. Us Brits really love a good moan about these things we will join in and laugh heartily. ...and'll say please come back and do it again.

    Can I have a list of things to bite my tongue about when living in the US - I'd really hate to come across as being opinionated or ungrateful.

    Thankyou sir for letting me be here. ...doffs cap, bows & scrapes,

  9. Wait wait wait....people still take what Clinton says as truth??? :blink:

  10. The NHS ain't perfect by any means but if I fall over sick I get treated whether I have Health Insurance or not. ...and I won't own my soul to Insurance Company Shareholders either.

    I'd rather have a lower standard "free" health care than the US "pay for best treatment and be bankrupt thereafter"

    Yeah I noticed that while in the US the doctors passing out pills for absolutely anything. One woman I met was taking pills for forgetfulness!! Not Alzeheimers, forgetfulness. Those US Docs seem slightly to be in the Drug Companies greasy palms.

    Shoot man I know I'm gonna get real ill over there with some doctor ripping the last bucks out my pocket before I pass away, I just know it.... :D(L):wacko:

    *shrug* Or you could stay in the UK and use the NHS. Up to you.

    When I lived in the US, my doctor never gave me any pills just for the asking. If she suspected some kind of bacterial infection, she actually RAN TESTS to make sure before prescribing me anti-biotics, whereas in the UK anti-biotics are simply thrown at me if I ask for them, and they're not targeted to a specific infectious agent because obviously THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. :lol::lol::lol:

    Why everytime some immigrant criticises the US system they get told to stay in your own country. You lot are right fascists sometimes. What is so wrong with paying higher taxes for health care? You pay them to wage wars!!

    I can always hop a plane to the UK fall out of it and get my free health care. Do it the opposite way and you're financially crippled.

    & of course they do your bacterial infection tests in the US they are charging mega bucks for it. And making a handsome profit.... They do have private clinics in the UK too you know!! They'll snatch your £££'s big time too.

  11. Osama in Pakistan?? because BUSH Warned him to get out of Afganistan before attacking. BUSH is corrupt always was always will be.

    Source, please.

    don't expect to see one ;)

    Yeah OK I lied for my Oil Companies profit for big $$$$$'s and my own twisted anti-religion beliefs to wage internet war on GWB.

    Don't stop me believing that BUSH is corrupt, war-mongering, lying, coke sniffing, vote rigging, Geneva Convention breaking, flag waving, Uneducated, backwards thinking, script reading, stoneaged evil dictator though.....

    call me the village idiot for my mistake it was Clinton's Governments #######. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/ne...id=1003087654...

  13. I'll believe he's dead when I see his head on a pike.

    I'll open a bottle of champagne when I see his head on a pike. WHO'S WITH ME!

    How so very civilised of you! :no:

    I think maybe a fair trail would be better, get the truth out!! .....but I forget the US is trying to go back in time to Medieval tortures - Hanging, Drawing and Quartering, Burnings at the Stake.... Ohhh the -R a c k- of course was always fun too.

    You seriously want to see that kind of torture in the world? Sick, twisted, masocistic voyeurs? :wacko:

  14. This is close enough to the truth to make the "I-didn't-inhale" and "I-didn't-have-sex-with-that-woman" Clinton think he can get away with it. But it is far enough away from the truth to be classified as, if not a bold lie, an artless equivocation

    COKE SNIFFER BUSH

    First he refused to confirm or deny it. Later he would say only that "when I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible." Next he said that the issue wasn't relevant. Then he said that he wouldn't address "rumors." Then he said that he could pass a standard security check dating back seven years. Finally, he said that he could've passed the security check in his father's White House -- fifteen years. Though he had to think before specifying whether he could've passed it then or now. Now, no matter what he says, the issue seems destined to dog him until the day he comes clean.

    Texas Governor and Republican presidential frontrunner George W. Bush, Jr. has a cocaine problem.

    Under normal circumstances, an individual's past drug use, especially if that use occurred in the distant past, should not be relevant to their qualifications for present employment. But in the race for the United States Presidency, it is relevant on two counts. In fact, in Governor Bush's case, it is relevant on three.

    As governor of Texas, George W. Bush, Jr. supported and signed legislation increasing penalties for drug possession in that state. In one instance, Governor Bush signed legislation mandating jail time for people caught with less than a single gram of cocaine. As a candidate, Bush's handling of the cocaine question offers clues as to how he deals with embarrassing mistakes -- admit them and move on, or obfuscate and side-step. As President, Governor Bush would preside over a national drug policy that is increasingly punitive, the driving force behind the nation's ascendancy to the title of world's most prolific incarcerator.

    In 1992, Republicans asked whether Democratic candidate Bill Clinton could summon the moral authority to send young people to war, given the fact that he had successfully avoided military service during his youth. Today, Governor Bush must be asked whether he can summon the moral authority to send young people to prison, given the fact that he had avoided the DEA in his youth.

    It is becoming increasingly clear that George Junior most likely did toot a line or two back in his halcyon days. The relevant question, then, is whether or not he believes that five or ten years in prison would have been the appropriate societal response to that use. And if not, why he believes that such treatment is appropriate for the children of fathers who were not Ambassadors to China, Directors of the CIA, Vice Presidents or Commanders-in-Chief.

    The truth is that George Junior was never in much danger of being treated like less fortunate Americans who get sucked into our runaway criminal justice system. As the rich son of a powerful man, it is unlikely that he would have been pulled over, searched, or busted in a street sweep. Rich people don't buy their coke on the street, in quarter gram increments. And if by some strange confluence of events he had been caught and arrested -- rather than sent on his way with a wave of his ID -- he would have certainly had an expensive attorney, and a spot waiting for him at the Betty Ford Clinic. The judge would likely have wished him well in his recovery. It would've taken an act of God or else an act of monumental stupidity on his own part for George Junior to have ever seen the inside of an American prison for drug possession.

    But now he's running for president. And the questions keep coming. And his answers keep changing. And try as he might to create a statute of limitations for questions about his personal life, there is no such statute for hypocrisy.

    Sending people to prison, increasing their sentences by the stroke of his pen for the very behavior that he now claims is irrelevant in his own history, does not speak well for the honor or the conscience of the man. George W. Bush Jr. has a cocaine problem. But he's got a big lead in the polls, and more than thirty million dollars in the bank. He'll suffer an awful long time before he hits bottom. Right now, pathetic as it is to watch, his evasive machinations in the face of confrontation can only mean one thing. He's still in denial.

    George W. Bush. It might not be fair to characterize GWB as a coke fiend. He was more of an aficionado. If George W. Bush's drug laws were in place while George W. Bush was using illegal drugs, he would have been locked up for life. Interestingly, George W. Bush's corporate responsibility laws would have no effect on George W. Bush's business career.

    Least Clinton only brought shame to the Oval Office. Bush has brought shame on the whole USA - election fraud, lies for wars and oil money, purveyor of religious hatred......

  15. ....it was a quick ####### not full penetrating sex!!

    and Bush is a ex?? Coke Sniffing Drunkard now pretending to be Allshitey GOD?

    Like a true liberal:
    • Will never ever say he was wrong or made a mistake.
    • Automatically blame someone else for a problem
    • Never ever take any real responsibility..

    Now lets contrast these points to George W Bush and his actions...

    You know when I hear liberals speak it can of reminds me of corrupt unions and dictators. That is, they basically tell you what you want to hear.

    I.E E.G One minute liberals say the war on terror is a lot bigger than Osama, Next minute their saying I would send 20,000 troops to find and kill him..

    Ok Wise guy, How would you get those troops into Pakistan????

    Osama in Pakistan?? because BUSH Warned him to get out of Afganistan before attacking. BUSH is corrupt always was always will be.

  16. I actually feel most confident in jeans because it feels like 'me'. Dressing up makes me feel uncomfortable.

    In spite of my 'confident' jeans look, however, I was very nervous and emotional when I had my interview and I actually cried through the whole 5 minutes. The nice woman behind the counter smiled and said, not to worry, a lot of people cry.

    It really isn't anything like a job interview - they're not judging you on your dress, your intelligence, social skills, confidence or anything like that. You've already presented all the documentation and filled in the forms. They just want to see the originals, take a few things from you, have you sign a few things, swear to tell the truth (sobbing optional) and answer a couple of questions.

    So just wear what makes you feel most comfortable and confident - you may be in for a long wait outside the Embassy (so I wouldn't wear heels!) and another long wait inside so bear that in mind when choosing.

    I liked the fact you were comfortable enough to cry at the interview. You are right it doesn't matter what your wear. Just so long as you feel confident within yourself.

    I'll still be in my Mod Duds... and probably blubbing too ;)
