  1. BoA were incredibly helpful when I moved to the USA; they opened a checking account for me with my foreign ID and set me up with an unsecured travel credit card to build credit (9 months later I have great credit) and air miles, got a joint account with my husband no problems. To top it all off my personal banker is an immigrant herself from India, and has guided me through how finances work here and been beyond amazing.

  2. So... since this came up just recently.. To those of you who have AOS'd.. did any of you need to fill out the i-693.. ik what the guides say and everything, just looking for your experiences... Also.. those of you that got a copy of your medical recently in Stockholm.. was the medical complete box ticked?

You only need this if your medical is expired, I just attached a copy of the vaccination records for my AOS.

  3. Mine was definitely left in my mailbox outside, but saying that I had a terrible postman who for years would always leave things that required a signature outside ;)

I remember when I was getting evidence for my interview I ordered copies of my birth certificate and legal documents regarding a name change from the UK and had them sent requiring a signature and they were just left outside in the rain, all of them were soaked through and I had to order new ones! Bah!

But congrats on receiving the visa Scandi! I'm so happy for you, I remember in the January filers thread that you had applied weeks before me and had such a horrible time waiting for your NOA's compared to everyone else and I'm so glad that the wait for you is finally over! (L)

  4. Im laughing at myself so hard right now hahahaha and here I thought they wanted a s-hit ton of proof that the relationship is genuine and I was worried that what I had wasn't gonna be enough HAHAHA and then you guys only brought like 6 pages.... what is life anymore

I think I had 6 pages of chat logs, with 4 screenshots of my phone per page, then a few pages of scanned photos and then a couple pages with scanned cards / letters.

  5. Omg I'm gonna give them hell with my evidence... No it's not 100 pages of ONLY chat logs, it's mixed with like photos and stuff too. I meant all the evidence combined  But I do believe about 60 of them consists of chatlogs.... uhm.... maybe I should re-organise the folder tomorrow since I need to print out more recent stuff too....

Well like you said, better to have too much than too little, if it gives you peace of mind to have all of that evidence then you should take it :)

  6. I'm sure it's been asked before but I have no idea how to search this thread.. how long does it usually take for the visa to arrive? Was thinking if there's any way I can plan for this so I can ask to be free from work that day.

Nevermind, just got an email like 2 minutes ago with the tracking.

I got my visa very fast, I had my interview on Thursday and it arrived in the mail 4 days later on Monday.

Lina, 100 pages of chat logs is crazy haha I think I took 6 pages! :D

  7. As long as you have applied for AOS then you have legal status to stay in the country until it is processed, you won't even come across Immigration Officers while flying domestically, just TSA who check for valid ID. To be safe I would take a copy of the NOA from your application if you receive it before you travel, but you shouldn't have any problems.

  8. how long does it take for EAD to be approved?

The EAD takes approximately 90 days where as the green card can take up to a year, you should also file for AP so that you can leave the country if you need to and return without any problems.

If you decide to file for these, be sure to include a copy of your AOS Notice of Action (I-797C) as a receipt, this way you don't have to pay the filing fees.

  9. I have a question to ask though... the k1 visa is valid for 4 months right, does someone know if I have to apply for the visa right away when the us embassy at santo domingo DR receives my approved petition or it has to be withing the 4 month period?

This will probably depend on the embassy you are going through, I don't think you need to apply right away. I've read of people asking the embassy to hold onto the approved petition for a year before they have their interview. Your best bet is it give the embassy a call or email them once they receive the petition and find out.

  10. May be a stupid question but what was the I-94? I remember seeing that I need to print that.

Nvermind I got that now. They also said he needed original documents of his passport etc cuz I copied them when I sent in the application. Probably best I go in right?

Yes you should take the originals, they will make copies. Also print out a couple more copies of the I-94 you will need it to apply for a state ID / license and Advanced Parole.
