  1. Hi,

We filed the I-751 petition jointly and sent it to CSC on July 11. Around a week and a half later, we received the I-797 NOA saying that they received the petition on July 12. The NOA was dated July 19 and said that my conditional resident status was extended for 18 months from the expiration date on my green card. USCIS cashed the check on July 23.

    And that's it so far...

We haven't heard anything about the biometrics appointment yet. We were starting to get worried. But after reading this thread, it seems that we're not the only one in this situation.

Additionally, we've noticed that the receipt number doesn't seem to work on the USCIS Case Status Online page.

  3. Cool!

Did you request a Social Security Number when you filled the DS-260 application? If you did, wait two to three weeks since you arrive in the US to see if you get it via mail. If you didn't or haven't received after three weeks in the US, go to the closest SSN office to request it. That's what I had to do: although I had requested on the immigrant visa application, nobody processed it... So I had to go in person to a SSN office. I got it mailed a week after.

You'll need a SSN to do things like opening a bank account and work.

Getting my green card took almost two months since I arrived in the US, but that's within the stipulated time frame. You should only notify the USCIS if after 60 days in the US you haven't had any notice about the green card.

Be very patient when you get your state ID. You'll need several documents to prove you live at a specific address.

Things that were very easy to get were a library card and a cellphone contract.

I still have one thing to do: I have to register at the local Spanish Consulate as a non-resident citizen for certain purposes like voting in elections.

I hope this information helps you!

When and where do you plan to move? If you plan on sending stuff that will not come with you in suitcases, you might want to see a freight company. We used one called SIC (Sistemes Internacionals de Càrrega) SL that sent most of our stuff by sea. It took like a month and a half, but the price was unbeatable.

If you have a pet and can't fly with you, you might want to take a look at companies like BaggagePets.

    Take care and good luck!

  4. Hi,

I wish I would have seen this earlier, although I have seen that you have your interview very soon.

It's weird that your marriage certificate was not accepted. We sent ours (Certificado Literal de Matrimonio) with the corresponding translation and it was accepted. It had no apostille at all.

Therefore, how did you solve this issue eventually?

    Good luck!

  5. If you don't have your SSN card within 21 days of your POE, go IN PERSON to your local SSA office and see if your application was forwarded by the Immigration officer. It only works about 50% of the time when you tick the box on the DS-260.

As soon as you have your SSN you may work. Your passport visa and the immigration stamp is the equivalent of your green card.

    Good luck!

    Sukie in NY

Some great advice here! My POE will be in an exact week :D

    Thank you, Sukie.

  6. My pleasure!

In our case, we provided them with pictures of us since our relationship started to present: pictures from vacations and special occasions (like our wedding), with families, friends... We also included tickets from trips we have done together.

I believe we sent no more than 20 pictures.

In our translated documents, no stamp was used. Just the translator certifying her competence to process the task. However, this translator is employed by a US immigration attorney, so that might be enough to prove that she can perform the job. In Spain, for example, sworn translators use a stamp.

I hope someone can give you more light in this last matter.

    Good luck!

  7. Happy July 4th!

It was very special to get back my passport with the visa printed in it today :goofy:

I just paid the immigrant visa fee following the instructions at the beginning of this thread. However, I can't see the info on the ELIS account I created here: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

I used the same email email there and when paying the fee indeed. However, when I logged again on the ELIS account, I didn't see my case number. It is added automatically according to the instructions...

    Have a great day y'all!

    Hi,

Could anybody help me with this, please? =)

    Thank you!

  8. Hi,

I hope I can help you:

    - Any document that is not in English will need translation to English. Official documents, indeed, need a translation by a sworn translator.

    - Evidence of a joint bank account together could be any official document from the bank in which your names are together. For example, a copy of a bank account contract that shows your names would be valid.

    Have a great day!

  10. Congratulations!!!!! What a journey you had, so happy your visas are finally issued and you're so close to the end of this process :)

    Yay, congrats!!!

Congratulations!!!! I'm happy seeing everyone getting approved. Our interview is so close too. Aghh

    Thank you very much!!!

It all took 90 minutes, of which I probably spent 80 waiting. I was called twice:

The first time I was asked to deliver my passport, my birth certificate, my marriage certificate, my police certificate, the physical examination results, and the 2015 tax transcripts.

The second time I was asked if my petitioner was present, who's our joint sponsor and when do we plan to move to the US. Right after I answered that last question I was told that my visa had been approved and that I will get my passport back in a week via mail.

Congratulations to all of you who are being approved or have already been approved. And thank you very much for all the helpful advice on this forum (especially dwheels76) ^_^

  11. All the best tomorrow for the interview....the visa is yours, the rest is just formality ;)

    Thank you! ;-)

And congratulations to you. I read it was hard, but you got it!
