You should have the visa in well under a year, I filed in early August 2015 and had my interview in early June this year. And that was with a checklist from Nvc, otherwise it would have been done in 8 months overall.
-
Mine took 3 working days to arrive and was a cr1. I did tell the lady that I was travelling to USA in a weeks time when she asked, so don't know if that speeded it up. I'd be very surprised if you didn't get your passport back in time.
-
Lol. I arrived yesterday. I probably had the easiest port of entry ever. There was nobody in line, somebody took me to the office and took my package. Sat me down, looked at my petition, he then looked at me and said "so tell me how you both met." Then just before I answered, he interrupted me and said "ah f**k it, I'm stamping your passport, welcome to America." And that was it.
I've emigrated. And love Texas.
Good luck all, and don't give up faith if you have an application going on. It is so so so so worth it in the end.
-
It depends on the crime whether or not you need a waiver. I have a conviction for theft and an arrest for a fight, all they did at the interview was thank me for being honest with them and for providing details of it to NVC. They didn't ask for any details about it at the interview.
It will be under scrutiny of course, you are applying for a green card not a library card. The best thing you can do is be honest.
-
Well my visa arrived yesterday morning. My interview was last thing on Monday. So that's basically 3 full working days from interview to receiving visa. Rapid quick. I'm going to be emigrating on Friday!! Wow. The process is a bit like a one day cricket match. Slow start, but gradually getting faster and faster until it's all go in the last over.
-
So what part of Houston are you thinking about?
I'll be living near post oak Blvd. And 15 seconds walk to work!! We will have to be a one car family for a couple of years so it's perfect.
-
No issue
Thanks again!!!
your green card is going to be mailed to the address on the paperwork attached to the envelope/ to late to change it and as you don't know where you may live, get your mail picked up by family
our envelope with green card said "DO NOT FORWARD"
Try to change address if you can with immigration
Tell the immigration officer the address as they know it and tell him the circumstances / be honest
I thought it can be changed with uscis? If not, the address they have is her parents house so it's no problem.
Thanks for your help.

Hello. I got my passport back with my visa stamped in it today, with the sealed envelope.
The back if it states my final address will be in Michigan, where my wife lives, but I will be arriving in Houston, staying in a hotel as we look at properties, then moving there.
Will there be an issue with having one state as my final address and another as my port of entry?
Obviously it will be changed with uscis once we move.
Thanks alot, and good luck to anyone with an application going on at the moment. When you get that visa through - it is the best feeling!!
Ian.

Yes they ask for it, not the actual ds260, but the confirmation page with the bar code on. It is odd that they don't ask for it on the interview letter, but they do definitely ask for it at the interview.
I got the impression that they more or less have made up their mind even before the interview as to whether to Deny or approve.
-
NVC asked me to take my latest tax return to the interview, but they didn't ask for it at the interview. Another thing they didn't want were photocopies I made of everything. They also didn't ask for the letter I had from her employer or her wage slips. Nothing at all.Great news Ian, Happy for you!
What's the story with financial evidence? Did they ask you for I-864 and tax returns/transcripts? Having a bit of a mare on that one over here! Other than that I think I'm all prepped!

I had my interview a few hours ago. I've just got home so here's a quick review"
First step - security. That was pretty easy, phones are now allowed. He also noticed from the xray that there was a spoon in my rucksack. At this moment, I knew I was in the hands of highly trained security. This was followed by an accurate observation that I had grown a beard since my passport photo. By now, I even began to feel sorry for ISIS.
You then walk around the building. Go inside, hand the girl from TOWIE your passport and your interview letter.
Then walk into this waiting room which I can only describe as a clinically obese version of a Doctors waiting room. There's a huge TV screen which shows numbers and everytime it's time for a new number it goes "PING" and puts which window you should goto. There weren't many people there. And I was the last to arrive for the 1:30 appointments. That's another thing - if your appointment is for 1:30, get there on the earlier side as you'll be seen quicker.
After an hour, "PING" I was called to give in my birth certificate, passport, interview letter, wedding certificate, police certificate, subject access report, courier letter and ds260 confirmation. She did not ask for the newest tax return that NVC wanted, or a new i864, which confused me a tad.
Then I got fingerprinted and sat back down.
After less than an hour, I was sat in the obese waiting room alone. I fell asleep in some weird yoga position where my head was under my armpit and left leg on the chair beside me. Then PING. Interview time.
The interview lady was lovely. Proper warm hearted and lovely conditioned hair (I didn't ask but I am assuming that she uses tre semme deep moisturising).
All she asked me about was where we met, first time we met in person, what we did and what we have done since. It was really easy as I've answered these questions a thousand times in general chit chat with clients and friends.
Then she said "youre approved." I smiled smile and smile so much that I forgot my teeth were English for a second. The interview was less than 5 minutes. And I was in the embassy for less than 2 hours.
The process can exaggerate concerns in your mind, at least it did for me. My first concern one was a conviction and another arrest a few years ago. Immediately she put me at ease and said they weren't a concern. This made answering the questions much simpler. Another one was an admin error on my subject access report giving the wrong place of birth. Again, no issue. And my final concern was forgetting some document so small but delaying the process (for example - if I hadn't have posted an earlier topic here, I would not have known to have taken the ds-260 confirmation). And for this, I have the forum and its members to thank. When I look back at how many forms, documents, fees, stages that are needed to get this visa - today's result fills me with such happiness. The help from this forum - not just on an advice level, but psychologically and seeing others in the exact same situations of missing loved ones... it does make the process that tad more bearable. So thank you all. Especially NichNick for usually been the first person to answer and always with the correct one.
Now, I cannot wait to start our new life in Houston. We already have a lease agreement on a condo and received the contract today too. I will be leaving the UK the day after my passport arrives, so hopefully later next week!
Thanks again all. And any questions, just let me know.

Actually I'm glad I read this. I just checked. I must have got my new passport just before I filled out the ds260. It has my new passport number on it. Phew!
-
You haven't made an error though, you've just changed passports. Tricky one that. I also changed passports. I will let you know if it effects anything at my interview.
-
Oh god yes, I forgot all about the ds-260. Thanks for that.
Yeah, I'm taking more stuff than I really need (just incase).
Best of luck to you too!!

Hey limeys. I have my interview on Monday. I can barely believe that the day is here.
Do I have everything?
- My passport
- My Birth certificate
- Our marriage certificate
- Police Certificate
- Subject access report
- Photocopies of all above documents
- Wife's tax returns/w2/tax transcript/letter from employer/wage slip
- Passport photos (American size)
- Interview letter
- Letter confirming I've registered and paid for courier
- Proof of relationship like flight/hotels/joint phone account (although we sent lots of proof in the original petition so these probably won't be asked for).
- Payment for final fee.
Is this everything?
Thanks for all your help through the past year.

I thought as much. My employer is going to give me a letter stating my currently salary/payment scheme which has been elevated since I filled out my I-864 by several thousand. When we filed all of this paperwork at USCIS, I gave them my tax records from 2013-2015 along with the proper tax return transcripts, plus pay stubs and so forth. The only information that they requested was my 2015 tax transcript for my husband to bring to his embassy interview.
Other than the tax transcript, would it be wise to fill out another I-864 and supply all the paystub and employer letter info just in case?
-
Just adding this is my husbands forum account I am using to post this, just to avoid any confusion
-
Hi all, I am filling out an extra copy of the USCIS Form I-864 for my husband (the owner of this account) to take with him to the embassy.
I am paid a base salary, which has been raised to $39,000 plus a monthly commission of up to $500 per month. I am looking at the portion where they are asking for my "Current individual annual income." Do I just use my guaranteed base salary, or should I average out my commission and add it to the base salary for my total salary? That is what I did for the first form that was sent and approved, but I've had a raise in my base salary since then (by not much at all, but hey), also they lowered the requirements to hit the bonus so I've hit the full $500 each month thus far. Also, I receive an extra $800 quarterly bonus. That averages to nearly $51,000. I know when I applied for loans and such over the years, they just want my guarantee base and not my payment scheme details. What should I enter on that particular line since my 2016 forecast is higher than my 2015 actual? I've been employed by the same company for several years now,
Should I go back and figure out what I wrote for 2015 using after-tax figures and averages, or should I work with my current higher figure and work letterhead letter confirming my new title and my now current payment scheme? Or is this myself putting stress on a situation where I am well above the 100% poverty level?

I'm from the UK too, I have my interview at the embassy in two weeks. Also on a Cr1 visa. The process is long and difficult at times. You are going to be apart for long periods. Fact. But enjoy the time you get together as much as possible. The hardest part is the initial getting the petition approved at uscis as it's a long time of hearing nothing, no updates until it's approved. Once you get your petition approved and it's at NVC then the time flies by as there's always an update and some kind of progress, it feels like it actually moving forward. It's worth the wait buddy. Good luck and feel free to message me if you got any questions.
-
Eye test? I wear glasses so it's obvious that my eyes are not the best. What do they test?
I wear contact lenses, I told her and she didn't ask me to take them out. So you'll be fine.
-
The cough test is to check for a hernia I believe. So perhaps I showed other signs of hernias.
The bollocks test actually had me more worried than the visa interview. But then I remembered that they're just bollocks. And bollocks to a doctor are like eyes to an optician. That philosophy got me through.
-
I went for my medical yesterday. All went well. I was a little worried about my blood pressure as I tend to shout during episodes of channel 4's 24 hours in Police custody. But it was fine.
Bit worried about doctor checking my bollocks. There's a hot doctor and an average looking doctor. I was praying I'd get the average one, but no - doctor Hot called me in. I just thought of my sister in law during the examination and it was fine. One rather awkward moment when my cough was weak and she said "harder please," but apart from that all was good
good.
Process was as follows:
Fill in form
Nurse checks immunisation records
X rays done by another person
Then the doctor does the check up (eye test, pulse, breathing, weight, blood test, blood pressure, height)
And finally payment. She said no news is good news, and the blood test results take around 3 days to arrive back.
Good luck all.
Sent in missing police certificate, but six more weeks for Case Complete?
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted · Edited by IamIan
Case completes are taking 6 weeks now? It was around 30 days when I did mine. But yes, you will have to wait more or less the same time that you waited for the checklist. There's no way around it, at l.
It is worth it in the end, and after case complete everything happens really really quickly and before you know it you've got your visa.
