^ that post was very sweet.
it made me feel a lot better about things.
i like how you stay so positive throughout all of this.
i am so bummed all the time and like your wife, i call my husband crying too.
some days are good, some days are bad.
we just all gotta stay strong.
and one day in the near future this will all be over.
my god, i cannot wait for that day.
the day i get my interview letter will be the happiest day of my life.

Shanny, do your timeline. It helps calculate the statistics so people here have a better idea of what to expect.
If I'm in Toronto or Montreal the same time as you, I'll buy you a Blue, or a donut at Tims, or even a quarter chicken at Swiss Chalet, whatever you like, eh? But I'm not getting my knickers in a twist about when the interview will happen. That's out of my control. All I can do is be well prepared. Then, spend my energy on things that will make our life together a good thing.
Yes, waiting sucks, if you look at it as waiting. For me, it's part of a process I signed up for, knowing beforehand it would take some time but be worth it in the end. Instead of whining and wringing my hands because my husband isn't here, I do constructive things, such as drinking more beer, letting the dishes pile even higher in the sink, wearing the same socks two days in a row, eating Rice Krispie squares for dinner, over tweezing my eyebrows. I'm okay. Really.
this post made me chuckle.
and i really needed that...so thanks.
i am gonna do my timeline right now.
oh, and i meant to say that i had the same i-129f noa1 date as you.
hopefully we both get approved soon.
take care.

my police check was $16 and it takes 10 days!
damn winnipeg.
-
jerseygirl, i have the same noa1 date as you.
think we will be in canada for awhile?
to belize, don't give up.
waiting sucks, i bloody hate it.
it is so hard being away from my husband.
but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
stay strong.

Shanny,
The processing time estimates are pure fantasy.
A better, though not great, way to estimate time to approval is to compare your Receipt Date to the current processing date and add 30 days. Recognize, however, that the movement of processing dates can and does vary over time.

has anyone here ever been approved before the 60-90 days?or does that just not happen?
it really sucks that things are taking this long...i swear to god i am in denial.
our I-129f has a NOA date of may 2nd...will i get my interview by august?
thanks yodrak.

Vancover is much better than Montreal... but once you are approved doesnt it have to be then fowarded to NVC for processing..
Sorry but I agree... It is not likely by August especially if you are having your interview in Montreal consulate.. from what I understand they are backed up 2 to 4 months. BUT you never know.
Patience and good luck
hard to tell... depends on how quickly you get necessary documents completed and back to the... most of their comments after receiving anything is "allow 4 to 8 weeks to review"
yikes.
that is a looooong time.
my husband and i had no idea that things would take this long.
i am not a patient person...man i hope this goes quickly.

Are you talking about your NOA1 or NOA2? If you're talking about your NOA2, don't you have to have an interview by the last valid date on it? I don't know, but it would seem like it. Like our K3 NOA2 is only valid until the beginning of september. So we have to have our interview before that, right? So if you already have your NOA2, then I think the interview has to happen while the NOA2 is still valid. ttyl,
mich
sorry for the confusion, i was talking about the NOA1.

yuppers, it does.

Well, my notice that I received by mail said, "it is taking between 60 and 180 days for them to process this kind of case." But my online profile at the USCIS website says, "It is taking between 60 and 90 days for them to process this kind of case." Tomorrow, May 22 will be 59 days since the NOA-1. I do hope that I get the approval very soon, by next two weeks, but who knows?
yup, the notice my husband received in the mail also said 60-180 days and then online it said 60-90 days.
i like the online processing dates better.
i am just hoping and hoping that we get approved quickly.

can i make an appointment before i even get my packet 3?
we are still waiting for approval for the I-129F, but i want to get my appointment booked so i don't have to wait once we get approval.
is this possible?
or do you need proof that you were approved before they allow you to make an appointment?
-
hey all!
silly question, but what exactly besides the checklist do I bring to the interview?
do I need my fiance's birth certificate?
anything else?
thx
Elunia28
I had my interview last week, and they asked for OF-167 signed by my fiance. I thought this form was optional and needed only if co-sponsor is used, which we didn't. Anyway, luckily my fiance was with me and he signed OF-167 right there. They didn't ask for his birth certificate, just mine. If you were born in Canada, you need a long form certificate. They had all the documents we send with I-129F, so I guess they already have USC birth certificate. They only take USD cash for the visa, no money orders or cr. cards. Hope this helps.

what is the fee for the actual visa itself?

Do you have I-797?
not sure if this was directed at me, but yes.
i do.
As long as you show intent to return, you should be fine. Keep your I-797 and like a lease or letter from your job with you....
thanks for the reply.
kinda crappy as i no longer have a job or a lease.
i am currently staying with family.
darn.
what am i gonna do now?
-
when you get touched will they only tell you by email or will it also show up if you check your case online on the uscis website?

hi everyone.
i have applied for a k-3 visa and my husband just received the NOA for the I-129f with a receipt date of may 2, 2006.
i heard that getting a criminal record check may take some time.
is it okay for me to go ahead and get one now?
or do i have to wait until i get my packet telling me to do so?
what else can i be doing right now to prepare for packet 3?
i want to get a lot done right now so i am not hurrying to get the packet out.
thanks.

hmmmmm is your NOA for the I-129f? your timeline isnt updated so there isnt much info for us to look at, however being touched doesnt always mean something "special" it just means someone is looking at it, I may not be touched again for a long while, and you on the other hand could be "touched" several times. Either way, good luck!!!!
yes, the NOA is for the I-129f.
we go the NOA receipt for the I-130 way back in april.
i sure hope this goes quickly, i hate being away from my husband.

i was also concerned about this question.
i am still waiting on my I-129f approval, but i have started filling out this form.
i think i might just say that i have crossed the border several times throughout my life but then also give them dates that i have visited the US in the last year.
this way, they at least have some kind of dates to go by.
hope that helps.
good luck.
