  1. Shanny, we're twins. Look at our timelines. Maybe this is good luck and I'll be buying you a brewski in Montreal!

    that would be awesome!

has your I-130 been approved yet?

if not, it should be anytime now.

are you still gonna go with the K-3 or the CR-1?

i don't think we wanna give up on the K-3 just yet.

  2. my husband (US citizen) came to pick me up in canada on the june 9-11th weekend.

we only live an 8 hour drive apart.

we crossed the border sunday morning and it was a breeze.

i brought along my rental agreement, our NOA1s and some bank statements.

they looked at it, stamped our passports, entered some stuff in the computer and told us to have a good trip.

i think it all depends on the border officer.

he was so nice and helpful, he even said that i could stay for up to six months.

that was almost three weeks ago now, and i am gonna stay until mid-august.

it is so nice being here.

    :)

  3. Just to let you guys have some idea as to the timing of the different embassy's...........here's a little statistic for you. I faxed in my checklist on May 31/06 and received my interview letter TODAY!! Its June 22/06. Is that fast or what????

    :o

    wow, that was quick!!!

    and good to hear.

my interview will also be in vancouver (for k-3 visa) and i sure hope i get an interview as quick as you!

    congrats & good luck!

  4. yup, they do.

i am gonna try crossing the border (from canada) this sunday...i am crossing my fingers that i get through!

Good Luck.......................when i visited while going through the process i took my NOA1 with me, which i'm glad about as the officer asked me how our marriage worked with me in the UK & Hubby in the US, & did we have plans........i said uh huh we are currently going through the immigration process, he asked did i have any paper work for this to show him, and i did :D ...................but i also took other ties back to UK to show i would be returning

so you made it through alright?

did he ask to see the other ties back to the UK?

    how long did you stay?

  5. Canadians can stay in the US for up to 6 months per year/per visit, even if you have a visa petition in with your name on it, or a visa application in.

If you're travelling together they may make it a bit difficult for you to cross, so make sure you have lots of evidence with you that you will most definitely be returning to Canada when you say you will. This of course is not definite, even with proof of ties, you can still be denied entry. But a denial will not negatively affect your visa application.

    hi, thanks for the reply.

i am SO worried about this all.

especially because we are travelling together.

i called the border that we are crossing last week and the woman told me that they generally do not have a problem with it, as long as i am not going there to live.

so i guess i just have to prove that to them.

we are bringing our I-130 & I-129 receipts, my rental agreement, marriage certificate and my bank statements.

i do not have a job at the time, but i am helping my sis-in-law with her business.

we will see what happens, i want to visit my husband SO badly.

i will post back in this thread next week to tell you how it all went.

    wish me luck!

  6. i just want some advice.

i live only an 8 hour drive from my husband who is a US citizen.

he is coming to visit me in 2 weeks and then he wants me to come back to the USA with him and stay for 3 weeks.

(he will drive me back the 4th of july long weekend)

and then i am planning to go visit him again at the end of july for 2 or 3 weeks.

    is this okay?

is there a certain amount of time that i have to stay in canada until i go visit him again?

or will 2 weeks be long enough?

how long can i visit there, anyways?

    3 weeks, correct?

  7. thanks hockeygal.

i just got a job for the month of of june and most of july up until i go to visit my husband.

will paystubs from this job be okay to show them?

i won't be going back to the job, but they don't know that.

and what if i bring some mail with my address on it?

does that mean anything to them.

i think i am gonna call the border tomorrow morning and see what they say.

  8. i was hoping that maybe you guys could answer a few questions for me.

i want to go visit my husband in july for about 2-3 weeks.

i will be driving down with my family (it is only an 8 hour drive) and then my husband will be bringing me back to canada 2-3 weeks after that.

we are currently waiting for my I-129f for my k-3 visa to go through.

the thing is, i don't have a job at the time or a lease to show them that i will be returning to canada.

if i show them my noa receipts will this be enough for them?

it is obvious that i have to come back to canada for my interview anyways.

    will this be alright?

    or totally illegal?

i will be honest with them.

oh, and how long will they let you visit while a visa is pending?

    thanks.
