  1. I know, I know. I should be more patient....but I just want the card already!!! LOL. I just checked my case online and it was updated with today's date. I got all excited thinking it would say that they sent the card...BUT NO. I got another silly "card production" message! Grrrr!! This is the third one I've received since my interview. Maybe this time it is the real thing. We'll see!

  2. well, i had my interview today and it was a breeze!!!

we had to wait like an hour and a half because they were running majorly behind, but once it was our turn we were done in like 15 minutes!

the woman was soooo nice, and offered her help with any questions we had once the interview was over.

    she was very helpful.

she really only asked me one question - how did we meet and when?

other than that, she asked me those yes or no questions that were on the application and she said everything looked good, stamped my passport, took a copy of our identifications and told me i would see my 10 year card in the mail in a few weeks!

i am kinda laughing at myself right now...why the heck was i so worried? LOL.

but yeah, it is finally over.

good luck to the rest of you, be patient and don't be a ball of nerves like me...it literally was a complete breeze!!!

  3. Hi All,

We received my wife's AOS interview letter (as expected because of her K3 visa) a few days back but since I 've been too bz at work, I couldn't post it earlier.. Anyways, its scheduled for Aug 29th, '08. Its about two months away but at this time, I am just glad to have an AOS interview scheduled. Some progress... correct? :D

Wish us lots of luck and please keep us both in your prayers. Thanks.

Good Luck to all who are still waiting..

    Regards.

    congrats!

it looks like your wife will beat me to the finish line.

my interview is on september 4th!

good luck to the both of you.

  4. Someone who filed a few days after me in April has just been notified of their interview date - in September. Those of us who have been transferred to CSC are likely to have been approved before then and without all the hassle of the interview itself.

LOL!!! this is me!!! I am really happy to get the interview, but I agree that those of you at CSC will get likely get approved before me. But I have a K-3 visa so an interview was pretty much a given anyways. I really think that September is a bit far off for an interview, isn't it? I would love it if something sooner popped up. I guess my local office is just backed up that much.

  5. I agree with Zil. Also, Canada recognizes dual citizenship, so what would be the advantage of not becoming a US citizen? Also, if you were only a LPR of the US, you would loose out on some (~50% I think) of the retirement benefits that you would be able to get as a USC. There was a thread detailing this several months ago. I'll see if I can find it.

Oh, awesome. Thank you. So I guess there are some pretty good benefits of it then. Especially if my country recognizes dual citizenship because that whats most important to me.

  6. As far as I know you can keep renewing your greencard forever. However if you move to Canada later you may loose it. If you are a US citizen you can come back no matter how long you lived outside of the country.

Thanks for the quick reply, Zil. Hmmm, so becoming a citizen probably is a good idea then if my husand and I decide to move to Canada and then possibly move to the USA again. I guess it would keep us safe in case something like that did happen. It would really suck to have go through the immigration process all over again if we moved and then came back again.

  7. This may be a dumb question and I'm sure it has been asked before, but do I really need to be a citizen? Can I not just keep renewing my green card for the rest of my life? The thing is, I am Canadian and there is NO way that I want to lose my citizenship to my own country. My husband and I will likely move to Canada one day. Not sure when, it could be 5 years, 10 years or 20+ years! We really have no idea but the thought and desire is there. So I am just wondering if I really need to apply for citizenship in the USA. Can I live here without it? Do a lot of people do this? Is it even legal? Boy, I have a lot of research to do, don't I? Please forgive my ignorance, but a little insight or a point in the right direction would be nice. Thanks in advance!

  8. OH MY GOD!!!!!

WHAT A GREAT START TO MY WEEKEND!!!

Guess what I got in the mail today???

    MY INTERVIEW LETTER!!!!

No email updates or case status updates online, just got the letter!!!

My interview is scheduled for September 4th in Omaha, NE.

    Time for some wine!

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Great news!!! Keep them coming.. Where did I put that Dom Pérignon bottle again?:whistle:

Hahahaha! I know! Good thing I had some wine on hand to celebrate!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the congratulatory wishes.

It is nice to see that the April filers are making some progress.

  9. EAD is always valid for 1 yr, regardless of what kind of visa you arrived on (K1 vs K3). If you dont get your GC within the yr, you'll have to apply for a new EAD.

not true. i got my k-3 visa in october of 2006 and got my ead in february of 2007. my ead doesn't expire until october of 2008. (same day my visa expires.) but perhaps things have changed since february 2007...which very well may be the case.

  10. it seems like AOS approvals take a lot longer for K-3ers than they do for K-1ers. Does anybody know why this is? I really don't understand why. I sure hope I hear something soon as both my visa and EAD expire in October. I really don't want to apply for another EAD, but it may be worth it. I really cannot lose my job. But what a waste of money that would be if I applied for another one and then got my greencard in time. Ugh, I really don't know what to do.

  11. Thanks guys.....I didn't know that K3 could also be transferred to the CSC, plus I have been married since 2005, do you guys think they gonna give the 10yrs GC without an Interview ??

    @mariepoe, congratulation on the transfer

    i sure hope they do.

i've been married since 03/2006 and filed for AOS in 04/2008.

i would be tickled pink if i got my 10 year green card with no interview!

    let's cross our fingers!!!
