  1. I am slow to report back - but my husband had his green card interview back on Oct 17. During the interiew the lady asked about the medical as she was flipping through all the papers. She said that she didn't see it. I said yes it should be there as it was done. Then I kept silent and she never mentioned it again. I assume that she found it. I didn't want to open up any discussion that could lead to Tb or vaccinations in general. But my husband while here in the states went to a clinic (not a civil surgeon) and had done the Tb, AIDS and other sexually transmitted test that are asked for in the US medical. So in our case in Garden City, NY. Tb was not mentioned nor an updated medical. The medical was performed in Aug 2006 in Guyana, AOS filed July 2007, interview Oct 2007. Hope this helps if anyone is still wondering.

  2. Hello Everyone ,

Yesterday morning I received a package from the Guyana Embassy concerning my case after 5 months 9 days of Administration Review .

    The letter states :

    Dear Padmini Ramnauth ,

You have met all requirements & a visa may be issued to you. Please return any wednesday at 7:30am .Please bring your Passport & present this letter to the cashier.

    Required Documents :

Recent Medical Report & Vaccination Records DS 2053-6

    Recent Police Clearance

Updated Biographical form DS 156,156K,DS 230 SUP

Newly Birth Certificate with seal for your Fiance

I really need some advice here , plz help me out if u can, Do you think my fiance should be there with me when I return to the embassy on the 28th , Nov, 2007 ? I'm kind of worried here cause my first interview they never mention for him to be here with me & they made us wait another 8 months for a joint interview .I'm not sure if they will grant me the visa without him cause they say a visa may be issued to you .

Thanks in advance for your help

    Yours Truly Mini

    Hi Mini,

If I recall you interviewed almost a year ago, they made you wait like 8 months for the interview with your fiance. You went together then after that they send people out to investigate your family and neigbors. So now you get this letter that saids come in ANY Wed. Provided you bring them the correct info and your passport you will get the visa. Your fiance doesn't need to be there. He already went they sent people to check things out - all was fine and that is why they sent you the letter. Yes, Guyana embassy is VERY DIFFICULT but they only say "they may grant you a visa," as that is based upon you providing the proper documents. That is my personal belief which is based on what me and my now husband went through and my 50 + emails that I had with the Guyanese embassy in the past. Additionally, my husband needed to go on a Wed to pick up his passport (they held it at the embassy for 5 months!) So relax and go by yourself. If you ask around with enough people who went through Guyana you will hear that at this stage you are getting the visa provided that all the paperwork is correct and presented to them. I hope that I settled your concerns.

  3. after my husband's interview for AOS this week in Garden City, NY the ladiy said that she couldn't give us the I-551 stamp in the passport as they weren't doing it anymore. But she wrote in the passport

    10/17/07

    A#XXXXXXXXXX

    I-485 Pending CF-1

    Sec 245, G.C. NY

    DOA (her last Name)

She also said that he passed FBI name check and that the green card will take up to a month to arrive. We have AP for my husband. But as this point I'm not sure if he could travel as it "appears that things are pending" even though she said he is going to get the green card.

  4. when I filed for the K-1 I needed to send in the death certificate of my first husband since he passed away while we were married and I had to send in a copy of the divorce papers for my fiance from his first marriage - that was to prove that both he and I were able to marry. For the both of us it was each our second marriage.

  5. This post is a little old but seeing that you aren't coming to the US for a few months - I thought I'd give you my 2 cents. If your fiance has health coverage and is able to change it to a family plan upon marriage then you can get coverage on the day that you marry. You just set everthing up before hand and then call to the insurance the day you marry and say that you are now married.

I did that with my late husband who had cancer. He was covered the day we got married for hospital expenses. If he was in the hospital before we married as well as the day we married then they would start coverage when he got out. Because he was a spouse and my work offers family coverage pre-existing doesn't apply - only in the aspect as above. They covered his expenses due to cancer for 2 years - until he passed away.

As I reread your post - I see that you are coming on a K-3 - you are already married. Have your spouse add you to the policy before you get here and you should be covered upon arrival

I hope that your spose has the option of family coverage!

  6. Hello All,

If this his been posted somewhere else, please point me in the right direction and you will not have to respond. My fiance entered with a temp work stamp. He has his SS card. Question: I've been hesitating on him finding a good job because I'm concerned that after we get married the stamp will no longer be valid and he will lose his job. Does anyone have any experience on if companies check after they hire you or will he likely receive his permanent EAD before they get around to checking? I don't want him to lose out on a wonderful opportunity and I don't want to do anything illegal.

    Thanks

In an ideal world you should get your EAD within 90 days after getting your NOA1. Pending checks are cashed on time, and there is no RFE request. Sometimes it is received prior to 90 days.

The temp EAD stamp that is placed on the I-94 (sometimes when your POE is JFK) is good for 90 days. If for example you marry 1 week after you enter the US and then file say 5 days later. And say that applications were processing correctly and there wasn't a lag of processing of applications due to the fee increase. Then after you get your NOA1 you should get your EAD within 90 days. And then maybe there is no lag if the EAD comes through in less then 90 day and all goes through without any RFE's. A rare situation, but possible.

We got married 2 1/2 months after my then fiance entered the US. Then he got his EAD in 70 days, but we filed at the end of June before the fee increase and we got a NOA1 date of July 4. Which for us just happened to be the same day that the I-94 expired. So if my husband was working then we would of been lucky and to have something (NOA1) to show to an employer. In this case would he of been working "illegally" from July 4 - Sept 13???? Technically yes, but an employer may of been ok with the NOA1. Is it legal? I can't say, it would be is the employer comfortable with the situation. If you marry and file and have a NOA1 letter prior to the I-94 expiring that might make the employer happy - but things are going so slow these days. People appear to be waiting a month to just get checks cashed! I don't think I answered your question, but have presented thoughts in the direction of your question. Food for thought... Best of luck to you both.

  7. more exciting news - we put my husband's car on the road today and then around 6:30 tonight we got an e-mail that the EAD was approved. What timing and so exciting! He plans to drive cranes as he did in his country but to get the license will take over a year. So we were thinking about him doing some forklift work for now. So we drove over to a local industrial area so I could show my husband where he can look for jobs tomorrow (I figure we can print out the e-mail and show it to employers). We stopped at this one place and my husband asked this guy some questions and next thing we know he will have an interview on Sat for a machinist position. I'll keep you guys posted.

  8. I had a budget of less then $3,500. So we knew we were doing used! LOL. I suggested that we get a honda or toyota as they are known as reliable cars. We looked at 3 cars then we decide to only look at the Honda Accord, but not so old that it didn't have a driver's side air bag. The we went to craigslist.org. And I searched Honda Accord Max $4000. We also looked at autotraders.com and a local web site for the newspaper. Then we compared the prices people were asking and got a feel for price. We looked at a few. And because we were looking at a specific car we learned what was a good price. We looked for a dry engine, no oil and low milage. And over the summer we found a 94 with only 83K and we got it for $2100. It had no radio and the tires are shot, but even with purchasing a radio and the ties it came to $2,450 a great price. It took about 2 1/2 weeks for the whole process. We weren't in a rush so we were able to get a good deal. In the end we saw I think 8 cars and 6 were the accords.

  9. How about this be a thread for ANY civil surgeon that you had a very GOOD or very BAD experience with. Be it for a tranfer of info to the I-693A or a medical with the form I-693 being filled out. This thread was prompted by Magnolia posts in Site Related Discussion - Updates, Ideas, etc under the title:Civil Surgeon's Name Added on VJ?

I just read the AOS/medical exam thread on here which prompted this post. Time and time again people who are adjusting status are being hassled when trying to get their I-693A vaccination supplement form transferred. Most of the time people are getting told they need new complete exams.

I think it would be beneficial for VJ members if DR Arnold's information were posted somewhere easily accessible on here. It is simple and painless to get him to do this form for people. $10 and all you need to do is mail in your DS-3025 vaccination sheet. If his info were available on here, people would no longer have to deal with the hassle of overspending money OR having to drive miles and miles away for this.

    Dr. L.E. Arnold

    4534 Westgate Blvd., #106

    Austin, Texas 78745

    Tel: (512)444-3131

    Sheriff Uling added:

Beneficiaries that are adjusting status are being INCORRECTLY told by some civil surgeones that they have to complete a medicial exam somewhere in every state. This is not new. You might consider creating a generic civil surgeon thread so that others can also post credible and respectable civil surgeons (in their prospective areas) that don't try to make beneficiaries undergo a medical exam or charge a ridiculous fee to transfer the vaccination worksheet. Just a suggestion...

    Cheers!!!

    Sheriff Uling

Omoba said that there had been a tread floating around. Does anyone know where it is?

    and then I added this:

Below is a post by John & Annie, certainly they had a good CS that was willing to work with them. My husband did his medical and shots in Guyana. Dr. L. E. Arnold transferred the vaccinations to the I-693A. In the US my husband had his TB and STD's test at the local health clinic and a full medical at my doctor with blood tests and I will be considering going to a CS if we get an interview and would love to get a "workable" doctor who would be willing to use all these results to tranfer to the 1-693 as that would save me money. So why don't we make this a place to post become a place positive experiences with CS. Just provide the location, name of CS and your experience and money spent.

    We just did the Medical.

    The medical cost us $85.00.

We needed one additional test and that was $28.00

I called the CS office and got a list of the tests that they would normally order, went to our family Dr and asked if they would order the tests, so insurance would pay for them. The CS accepted the lab results and we did the whole thing for a total of $123.00, including the office co-pay.

I would call the local CS and see if they will accept recent lab results, regardless of who orders the test.

So folks add your comments on civil surgeons - the good the bad and the ugly. We all would love to hear! Don't forget to include their name, location, phone number (if you have it), your experience and money spent.

  11. On the chart the transfer and interview date are almost in the same location. Is it possible to:

    A) put the letter"T" before a tranfer date or

B)give the transfer date and interview date different colors or

    C) take out a few of the dashed between filed, received biometrics so that the transfer date is one line 1 and the interview date would be on line 2

Just a suggestion to make it easier to read.

    Thanks :)

Thanks SoL.! And congrats to John&Diana on the biometrics appointment!

  14. just need advice feelin kinda sad, I need some positive advice cause I am feeling bad. I am so thank ful for my husband. He left everything in the Philippines and came to United States. He asked me to stay with him in the Philippines but we decided he should come here and try it out. Maybe we didnt think it over enough , i feel so bad we are waiting for ead so he isnt working now. And over in Philippines he owns 2 houses, has all his friends, family(very important) had employment. I was always up front with him about my situation here, I support myself , live on my own, I am not rich and my family support system is next to nothing. But he still came here. And never complains. He has been great, but I think it maybe it was a mistake, I should have stayed there with him(in Phils), cause we would have everything there. Here we have not too much, just struggling.I start crying now a lot . He says we should stay here in United States cause he has commitements here now. ANy thoughts how to make this negative energy I am feeling positive? thanks I really appreciate all inputs.

Patience is the key. Now is the time to wait and then before you know it your husband will get his EAD. Draw your strength from him. He seems ok with the waiting. You expressed that he is commited to being here trust in him that he is fine with the decision that you both made. Once he has the permission to work you will not be feeling as you are now. Just relax and try not to stress yourself. I understand about the difficulties with fiances. When it worries me I just say to myself that things will ease very soon. Be sure to do things that bring you happiness as when you are enjoying things your worries will not be in the forefront.

  15. Hi All,

I'm writing on behalf of a friend and his wife who just had their interview in Guyana for a K-3 visa. It didn't clear yet and the case is now going to be placed in Administrative Review. My friend asked if Administrative Processing (AP) is the same as Administrave Review (AR)? I said that I was unsure. When my then fiance went to the embassy interview in Guyana on a K-1 visa he was given AP and they took his passport and said that it would be about 2 weeks, but instead it was 2 1/2 months with 2 visits by inspectors once to his home and a second to the neighbors. So my friend said that they took his wife's passport and that they said at the embassy that things look good and it will probably be a week. In both of our cases no additional documents were requested. So my friend is trying to figure out if it will be 1 week or 2 months!

    thanks
