  1. I have posted in other sections but I never did an introduction thread. I am in the UK, my OH is in the US. We have 2 daughters both 7 years old (both will be 8 soon! Nov&Jan), One is with me and one is with him. We're starting our K-1 visa process December this year and I am just getting all the necessary files etc in order, including making sure my vaccinations are up to date! Hello!

  2. Hi guys

I have an interview coming up on the 18th of October and my medical exam is on 15th and 16th this month. Most of the vaccines they require I had them administered already when I was under 5. I have been given a polio booster. My worry is I do not have my clinic card to show I had most of these vaccines. Any idea of how to go about it? I am not a fan of being poked with needles either.

You are better off asking this in a separate thread as the Opening post is nothing to do with the medical. However, as far as I am aware you need written documentation proving this. Your options would be to get it printed at your doctors or to have them done again.

  3. Hi

As I've written on a previous forum, I have previously suffered from depression and anxiety. Even though I have not been on medication for sometime my doctor refuses to write a letter stating I am not a harm to myself or others. He says he has been advised not to do this for immigration purposes any longer as this has brought on law suits to practices in the past. Has anyone been in this situation before? Do you think a copy of my medical history will be enough? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would ask to see another doctor. Some will do things and some won't.

  4. Something important, many people forget is the written letters of intent to marry, within the dates of the I-94.

I also hand wrote a description, of the way we met, and the places we traveled, and it was complimented, by the CO at my wife's interview. It was 4 pages long, and hand written.

I know that is not required, but I am Mr. "overkill" sometimes, as I will always give you more infor., than you ask for.

Also, the first thing the CO asked my wife for was.,.,.,..,"do you have any pictures???"

Depends on the country, different CO's ask for different things.

You seem really "on top of things" and taking this and being ready when the time comes, so you can go over it many times, and refine if you need to.

We are living apart at the moment and both have kids, we are a family. It's really hard living apart after being there for 6 weeks in the summer. The girls miss each other and with the time difference it's hard for them to be able to talk in the week. It's important to me we get this right the first time. Not to mention everything else medical wise I need to look into. I know that people have said in England they don't ask for anything. But I will take pictures and we are allowed phones so if they want to see all our emails/phonecalls they are welcome to :)

  5. We sent in some photos of us with family (one was taken at a tourist attraction so date was printed on it too) and copies of boarding passes and passport stamps. At the interview I wasn't asked to bring any proof, but had photos and more boarding passes (had 2 more trips to the US plus a Canada one) but they never asked to see it. London is a low fraud location so assuming no other red flags (age difference, history of K1 visa applications etc) you need very little proof of ongoing relationship. Since UK is an ESTA and you can travel as a tourist then very little reason to commit fraud to get to the USA.

I've never applied for a visa to the US, although my daughter is a duel citizen. I don't think there will be any issues with it. I know I have to get certain extra documentation because I have asthma (mild) etc. But otherwise I think it's fine.

  6. Always good to prepare for this process. As our resident UK expert (Nich-Nick) said during the London interview they do not ask for any additional proof of an ongoing relationship. We were in the same spot, we like to talk more than type so this is what we did.

In the I-129F pack I included:

    1. a brief outline (and I mean brief) of our visits and that we chat daily on Skype/FaceTime.

    2. Passport stamps from visits both mine and his

    3. Boarding passes from each of our last trips

    4. Pictures from FB of me, Tim and family members.

That was it. Very simple. It showed we communicated and tried to see each other when we could.

There are some embassies where they need to "front load", London is not one of them. When I was preparing my information I tried to focus more on the posts from other K1 couples going thru London...even for the early stages.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks I've got a lot of stuff I'll be doing over the next 2 months including going to the doctor to find out about vaccinations etc. I want to be ontop of everything that I need to do for my side of things because I've a tenancy to make mistakes on forms and I don't want to delay it!

  7. Some consulates want ongoing relationship things and will look at photo albums and email and chat logs. London will NOT want to see any of that. None. Zero. So don't get in a panic over what you will take. This is what you need at a London interview.

    Appointment letter

    DS-160 confirmation

Passport: must have at least eight months validity left

Birth Certificate: must list parents' names.

    Adoption Certificate: If applicable

Name Change Deed Poll: If applicable

Divorce Decree or Death Certificate: If previously married

Police Certificate (and Subject Access Report if it says "no live trace")

Court and Prison Records: If applicable

    Military Records: If applicable

    Photographs: one US passport style

Evidence of Support (Affidavit of Support): I-134 and one proof of income

Translations: All documents not in English

New letter of intent from USC if petition has expired

Visa Fees: receipt from paying online

My mum never put my dads name on the birthcertificate, will that be an issue?

  8. I know I am getting a little ahead of myself as we haven't filed the I-129f yet. But I'm just trying to think what I'll do at the Evidence of an ongoing relationship. I have a skype subscription and we mostly call. If we do text it's very short like 'call me' or something and it's a text he sends to my email. I never deleted them and I literally have thousands of short emails.

I'm sure they don't want to see near to 7000 emails and it'll probably be closer to 10,000 by the time they want them... In that case since it does show his number in the email. Do I just copy various pages of my inbox from different dates? Do they need to see content of the message or just that messages have been sent?

We have boarding passes I am copying for the I-129f and when I go for interview he'll of visited me here in England so I'll copy his boarding passes to take with me to interview and take pictures etc (there will be a lot). We don't facebook (I think we sent like 10 messages on there in the past year) and we rarely skype message as we actually like to talk rather than type. So I see that as pointless as adding. I'm assuming they want to see from when we apply (december) up until the interview (whenever that may be?)

Sorry I know it's a long way off yet but I like to understand the process fully so I can make it go as smoothly as possible.

  9. A note to anyone else reading this thread. They no longer give decree absolute with a red stamp. That stopped in 2014. They have a black stamp. Because of the common mix up with the judges signing in the US I am paying to have a judge sign my decree absolute and it costs £60. I'm waiting for the form to come though now so should hopefully have it by the end of this month.

  10. I have a copy from the court. I also have another 'original' which was sent to me. However neither have the red stamp they are black so I am guessing I'll need to get one with the official stamp from the court, since these seem to be copies.. So I'll contact them tomorrow to ask about getting an official copy. I will read those links now.

  11. You list all children anywhere it asks for names of your children. It's biographical and not applying for a visa for the child.

Not familiar with the wiki you reference so will give a short description to the parts--

Petition by US citizen processed by USCIS (part of Dept of Homeland Security). To be approved you show:

--He's a USC (birth certificate or passport)

--You have met face to face within last 2 years (the boarding passes, photos, passport stamps)

--you are both free to marry (your divorce decree)

--You intend to marry within 90 days of your entry (letter from each of you stating free to marry and intend to marry)

Concerning your boarding pass evidence. Everything is photocopies. Don't send your originals.

Handoff from USCIS to Dept of State, who issues visas. The approved petition gives you permission to apply for the visa. The handoff is at the NVC (National Visa Center). all that happens there is your case will get a new case number, a Dept of State number. Yours will be LNDxxxxxxxxxxx and means it will be processed in London (LND). NVC will send it to the consulate in London.

Visa Application to consulate in London. This part is all about your qualification and your documents. Each family member submits a visa application form. Your daughter won't because she has a U.S. passport. No need to explain in a cover letter. Just don't do a visa application for her. You will take your documents like birth certificate, divorce decree, police certificate, Affidavit of support and proof of fiance's income, etc to your interview. (Answers your payslip question...it's not until interview) In London you need no further proof of meeting up again or your relationship taken to the interview.

Hang on and I will tell you about a tip for your divorce decree. You don't have a signature.

When you say police certificate is that a CRB? I have a recent CRB from this year as I volunteer with kids, but I didn't know if it was something different. Thanks so much for all this information it's really helpful!

  12. While I don't know all of the answers you are looking for, I can give you some advice. Since you've been divorced, make sure its a divorce decree with the Judges signature on it. We ended up getting a copy of my fiance's from the county clerk office, and they also had it certified just in case (we mentioned it was for immigration). I've read of a few people get RFEs for not including the right certificate.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the affidavit. Do you mean the affidavit of support? That is not included in the original application, and is usually taken to the interview at the US Embassy in your country. So no need to worry about that until you get your NOA2, or even the interview date, really. As for the expiry date, on the USCIS website, they indicate that previous versions are accepted, so you should be ok to still use that. Your fiance will just have to sent the the appropriate forms (like tax return and pay stubs, etc.) in the post when you start assembling the papers to take to your interview.

As for your proof of relationship (pictures, boarding passes, etc.) you don't need to worry about not having the return boarding pass in December. My fiance and I assembled out I-129F packet during my last visit before I left, so I didn't have my return for that trip. I don't think I actually had any other boarding passes included, I just photocopied the pages of my passport with the stamps in it. All they really care about id that you have proof of meeting within the last 2 years, and you have that so you should be good :)

What we did for our proof of meeting/relationship was that we had a page for each visit, listed the dates and a short summary of what we did. Then after that was printed out, we put each photo in its own sandwich baggie and stapled it to the blank space below the description.

    Hope that helps!

I wonder if it's different. My decree has a stamp from the court house and is the same on both. I will give them a shout tomorrow (hopefully I can get hold of them) and ask if I can have one signed by the judge but I assumed the original decree was appropriate. Thank you for that infomation!

  13. Ok my OH and I are applying for our K-1 in December.

So far I have started printing forms as on the wiki and have pictures from each trip plus all my boarding passes, my divorce certificate (as I was divorced). I have a few questions about the application I was wondering if anyone might know the answer to.

My daughter is a US citizen (my ex is American but I never lived there, nor applied for a visa to move). How do I approach this on the application? Include a cover letter? She doesn't need a visa as has a US passport and SSN.

I have a trip booked in December which is when we will file everything so we can go though it all together and make sure we have everything we need. But the affidavit form expires in febuary 2016. Is that form supposed to be done closer to the interview date? Do they want the payslips from closer to it as well? I had initially thought we'd just do everything in December and I'd bring my copy back with me.

We have a trip for him to come and visit me next year, but no trips planned for me to visit again as we are saving money for wedding, living expenses and visa costs. I thought we could include pictures from Christmas this year and my boarding passes that got me here, but I won't be able to send the return ones as I will need them to get home with! Will that be ok?

I think thats everything for now as there is a really good wiki section on this site which has answered all my other questions!! :)
