  1. Sorry I know I've probably done this one to death but I thought I'd ask. My daughter is a US citizen so won't be needing a K-2 when I apply. She doesn't have to have any additional immunizations for immigration purposes. I am in the process of getting her Hepatitis B boosters (next 2 in Jan and Feb) and updating mine even though I don't need it for my application. Is there any reason why she would need a hepatitis A vaccine as it's not required by her school to enroll? I had only had it done for travel purposes before she was born so I'm not aware that she'd need it for any other purpose?

  2. The petition can be approved by showing you have met in person within the last two years, which you are doing with you boarding passes and passport page photocopies showing immigration entry stamps. Ongoing relationship is not actually one of the requirements. It's just something people do to an excess sometimes. London will not even be interested in chats, phone calls, etc.

Another base you have to cover is proof of US citizenship. Best is US birth certificate. Second option is all pages of US passport. UK birth certificate is not until interview.

Also required is that you are free to marry and intend to marry within 90 days, etc. That is covered by each fiance writing/signing a letter or statement stating such. And if there were previous marriages, something to prove that the marriage(s) no longer exists like the divorce decree or death certificate. That covers free to marry bit with a legal document. Compile that with your forms you have mentioned and the passport photos with names pencilled on the back. Some candid shots together like you plan is a nice touch. It doesn't have to be an album full. One from each trip is good and maybe something with a family group.

If the divorce decree is one from England, I can pass on a tip for that. Just let me know.

Do read the instructions written by USCIS so you don't miss anything. Sign everything. Make out the check exactly as they say. Don't put stuff in binders or page protectors. Make one photocopy of the entire packet including the check. That's for when you start second guessing yourself. You can look and see what you sent. The UK person does not need a photocopy of the packet for anything done over there. Mail it Priority Mail at the post office and you will get a tracking number to know when it was delivered.

It's not as hard or scary as you believe when you are first starting out. :)

I'd been getting things ready for my SO as he is moving into a bigger house for us and also very busy with his work. I told him he just needed to get a passport photo and copy his long form birth certificate. Pretty much everything else on that list is stuff I have. I need a passport photo and then I was going to send a Christmas picture or 2 along from this trip (depending on when we send the application) as well as a copy of my boarding pass from this trip.

My SO is doing the paperwork, I am just getting it all ready so I know we have everything. My divorce decree is an English one, it has the black stamp which is now the correct color as they changed it last year, but I have a copy of the original to go in my packet.

  3. Just to clarify, you haven't officially applied for the K-1, right? If that is the case, then you definitely need to send copies of the entire passport for both you and your significant other. Your application goes through USCIS before it goes to London, and they for sure will want to see that. The passport stamps show that you entered the country, boarding passes do not.

I will get a copy of my passport stamp, but my old passport expired and I have only 1 trip on the new one, so I can send them a copy of the old one too as I paid to keep it just incase. My SO doesn't have a passport yet, he's just applying soon so that he can come visit in march.

Exactly what our plan is. I want my boy to start in August too if possible. :) I wish you all the luck will be good to follow you through this process

    Likewise :) Thanks!

  4. I don't know about that embassy. I'm going through Sweden which is a really easy embassy and I'm giving them some. We talk everyday to but I don't sent them all as it will be to much but just random dates so they can see.

I added info in the post before

I have an itemized skype log as I pay for a subscription so I'll look into it and if needed I'll print a few random pages of that from the past year. I'm hoping we will send it out by the end of December! I'm hoping to move in July if all goes well (but you never know what'll happen). The school year starts in August there and I'd like my daughter to be able to start at the beginning of the school year with out interruptions.

  5. Boarding passes are proof of having met. No not sent the passport make copies op the pages with stamps and the picture/info page.

Proof of ongoing can be chat logs, phone call logs and so on.

But I'm sure you will be fine :)

Oh ok, because I was told London embassy isn't a front loading embassy and not to send chat logs. I have skype logs for our phone calls as I call him for at least an hour every day but I read it wasn't needed.

  6. You both need G-325a and Letters of intent and proof of ongoing relationship also use passport stamps :) Looks like we are filing about the same time :)

    You don't need the G-1145

My bad it's the G-325a I have filled out and another copy for my SO to fill out.

Proof of relationship boarding passes are fine, I can't send them my passport. The boarding passes have the dates and my name on them. I also have photos for proof of meeting and I have met all his family except his brother who I am meeting at Christmas as he was ill on my last trip and couldn't come to visit. I have copies of bus tickets, flight tickets and my hotel room that I am staying in at heathrow even though it's probably not relevant. I'll have him double check before we file. He is good at reading forms.

  7. Starting to worry as we are filing next month/early Jan. This is what I got ready for us (SO is working like crazy so I have more time than him).

    • I-129f
    • G-1145 x2 (I filled mine out already).
    • Divorce Decree.
    • Photocopies of all boarding passes from previous trips (Will include from this next trip).
    • 4x photos per trip (8 total so far, going to include a few from xmas maybe).

    What I need to get:

    • Both of us need passport photos, I was going to get it done with him while I'm there.
    • I know we need to copy his birth certificate.

    Am I missing anything?

  8. Just a note to others. I requested my vaccinations back in August so I could try and get everything up to date. I have been waiting 3 months. My doctors surgery apparently has no GP until next month as the other doctors are locums. It must be signed off by a GP. We have one on retirement and the other is on maternity leave until next month then there is a huge back log. I may end up having to change doctors surgeries or getting all my vaccinations done from scratch. I dread trying to get our medical records printed for the move and so am filing the request early next year so I have A LOT of time to get it sorted.

Sometimes these things are not so straightforward and it's a good idea to get vaccinations done as soon as you can.

  9. SO and I both have little girls. I could afford to sponsor him but I don't meet the income requirement for an additional child, so right from the start I knew I'd be going to the US. My boyfriend has a nicer house, a better job, a car. I have a tiny flat in a terribly noisy building. No car, a low paid job and his family are much closer than mine are. My little girl wouldn't miss my family as much as his daughter would miss his as they are daily involved and I'm lucky if I see mine once a month.

  10. I use skyscanner to search and have never had an issue. I booked a flight for my SO for March via Virgin Atlantic and Norwegian. They had no issues that the card was in my name.

I use skyscanner to search and have never had an issue. I booked a flight for my SO for March via Virgin Atlantic and Norwegian. They had no issues that the card was in my name. My passport has always been in my maiden name and before I got divorced I never had an issue either.

  11. AMZJ-- you don't have a timeline or location yet, but do you realize in many states you will not be able to get a driver's permit or license until you get EAD?

I didn't realize that no. Thanks for letting me know. I thought you just needed your SSN to get a permit. I don't have a timeline just yet. It could end up going to TSC and taking longer. I've just noticed a lot of them going to CSC and only taking 5-6 months. Who knows what'll happen it could end up taking the 10 months they state on their website. I'm not going into it with any expectations, just hopes that my daughter can start school at the beginning of the school year as it'll cause the least disruption to her education.

  12. If it's important to work, then forget the sentiment and marry immediately. It's charming to pick a sentimental date, but it's also cool to have food to eat.

The readiness for interview form asks the intended date. You can look at it here http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html

Make up a date. It doesn't matter. They can't hold you to it. They ask for scheduling purposes.

If the child is going to public school, they have to educate anybody who shows up. Planning for shots required is a super plan because they can make you get those before going to class. Previous school records or test scores are a bonus to help with placement in the right class. As an elementary school teacher I had surprise new students brought to my classroom mid-day by the principal on many occasions. Anna couldn't walk or stand at all. Martin spoke only German. I had to wing it. All children have the right to be educated in the public school system. With a private school, there may be limits on how many they can take so waiting lists, interviews, etc to get accepted. I highly recommend starting on the first day of class if your visa timeline allows it. It makes for easier adjustment.

If processing times go as they are for many people at the moment I should hope we'd have it a few months before August. But you never know what is going to happen. It could take longer. But if we have it before, then she will start on day one of grade 3. The only shot I know she doesn't have that she needs is Hep B and I have to pay for it, so I'll be getting the first one done next month. I have to wait for my doctor surgury to employ a new immunization nurse before we can get our Hep A and make sure my Dtap (not hers, hers are up to date).

I agree, where it's lovely to have a sentimental date I would be quite happy to have a court house thing and have a proper ceremony later. I don't want to make it difficult for us by not being able to work for a long period of time. Yes I have savings, but I have to pay for the visa, flights, a learners permit (for driving), a college course (which is $700) and various other moving expenses with those savings. It's not a huge amount, but it's enough for what we need and maybe a bit left over to be able to help out with the food bills until I can get a job. But these are things I have discussed with my SO and we'll talk about it in more depth as time allows. We always do. It's just getting a time when we can talk where the kids aren't listening in lol.
