  1. Hello,

I posted this in the military forum as well; yet, I decided to reach out to as many people as I can to ask for answers.

My husband is currently in AIT training, and I am filing a green card application for myself.

    1. What should I put in G325A for his employer and current address? Do I put "US Army" then his base address?

    2. Do I list the annual income that is "expected" for him in the form? He has been receiving his bi-weekly pay in BCT/AIT trainings yet the amount is far greater than what you would get as a reservist - because you are considered on active duty while in training.

    3. Do I check that he is on "Active" duty even if he is a reservist? (Is there any other way of indicating that he is a reservist?)

    Thank you!

    1. Yes put US Army and the address of his base.

    2. List only his income that he is receiving. I don't think you can use projected income.

    3. I'm not sure. Hopefully someone can help with that question. My husband is a full time reservist which comes under active duty. I'm nor sure about part time reservists.

Good luck on your AOS journey :)

  2. Hello,

I went to my local SSA office today (Gainesville, FL) to follow up on my application for my SSN. They processed the application on July 15 and said they were still waiting for verification from DHS. I checked SAVE when I got home and it says that DHS has returned the case to the agency. The problem is that it was returned to the WRONG SSA office. It was returned to Maryland SSA office. Has anyone run into this problem before? I'm not sure who to contact to correct. My local SSA office, Maryland SSA office, DHS?

    Thanks in advance.

I also checked mine on SAVE today and it says the same thing, that it was returned to Maryland office. Maybe its the SS office that deals with new number applications? I applied in New Orleans on June 10th and still haven't heard anything either.

  3. They will probably ask for photos with family members and friends. Most people seem to be asked for this evidence. It is considered a big red flag if no one knows about your relationship.

They will also be looking for more evidence of bona fide relationship than 1 joint account and some chat logs. I would begin getting more evidence together before filing.

  4. I organized my documents and paper clipped them. Then i mailed them in a cardboard envelope that said do not bend. We over nighted them to the Chicago address instead of lockbox.

Yes include as much evidence as possible. Pay stubs, w2s, photos, tax returns. I included signed statements from my sister in law about our relationship too. Any joint accounts, medical insurance and leases are great. Include as much as you can.

    Good luck with your journey.

  5. The state of Louisiana requires a full Green Card to obtain a DL. They govern under a particular law that is different from most states. I cannot go to a different location as it has to be State issued where I actually live.

I'm also in Louisiana (New Orleans) and checked the website several times to make sure but it clearly states you can apply for a drivers license with a pending I-485 and an EAD. I would go to their website, print it out and take it to the OMV.

I just noticed we are both from the UK and both living in New Orleans lol.

  6. i am already in the us for over a year now. you was talking about the k1 interview in cairo embassy i already passed that. i am asking about the interview letter for the green card in my local office in charlotte NC, thanks for ur response anyway. plz if any body knows there help would be much appreciated

The case is only ready to be scheduled for interview so do not expect the letter yet. Your online status will change to case has been scheduled for interview when they actually schedule the appointment for you. For me it took a little over two weeks to have my interview scheduled but I know of others on here that have waited months.

    Its just luck unfortunately.

  7. Thanks . I'll be looking out for the response. Did you get the response around the same time you got approved?

I had put in 2 previous requests as I had tried to expedite my EAD but I think I just slowed it down to be honest. On my third service request I didn't receive the email that was supposedly sent so I called and spoke to tier 2, they told me I had been approved two days prior. All in I think it took 108 days for my approval.
