  1. My husband and I had the same problem. We had to file taxes but I had no SSN.

We went to a local hrblock office and I'm so glad we did. They were able to file our taxes and ITIN number for us.

They may also have someone qualified to notorize your passport etc (they did this for us).

I think we paid around $150 for the whole process but it was worth it to lessen our stresses as the AOS process is stressful enough.

I would recommend calling a few of their offices local to you and enquiring if they have someone qualified to deal with ITIN numbers.

  2. Hi guys,

Hope you all had a good weekend, Just wanted to give you an update on my case.

Update: My husband called USCIS on my behalf because it has been more than 75 days and still no EAD. They insisted that I had to be on the line and give my permission as the applicant or they wouldn't talk to my husband (petitioner) about the case. They had us put in a service request and said they would respond to it within 15 days. The weird part is they asked us if one of us is affiliated with the US military. My husband is. Has anyone else been asked that? I wondering why it matters to them when doing a service request if you're in the military?

I was asked this too and my husband is in the navy. They actually process service requests faster for military members and their families.

Sometimes it takes a little longer but usually i get a reply within 48 hours of filing the service request.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm on the skyla now, which is the baby sister of the mirena. I looked up complications with mirena, and you definitely have the right to sue the company. I'm not sure if it's worth all the effort, but this has really had a negative impact on your life, and you deserve any and all financial compensation for the damages (even though that obviously cannot make up for what it has done). Again, I'm so sorry. I'm kind of freaking out now about the skyla...I wish doctors informed people more about these extreme risks.

Don't worry yourself over it. My gynaecologist seems to think this happened around a year ago.

I started having my cycle every two weeks and having extremely painful cramps around the same time (before this I had no pains and had a cycle maybe every 6 months) Just be aware of those symptoms and if you believe something is wrong go straight to your doctor to get a checkup. Most people are fine on Mirena, I was just one of the unlucky ones.

  4. So sorry that happened to you. It's understandable that you don't want to go into a lot of detail about it. I was offered Mirena recently at a doctor's appointment but decided to go with the pill instead . However, I had been thinking about getting it somewhere down the line. You experience has definitely changed my mind.

Thanks for sharing and warning other women. I'm glad you have a strong support system and a caring husband by your side. Please don't give up anything can happen. One of my best friend's sisters was told she could not have kids but ended up having a set of beautiful and healthy twins without even trying.

Thank you for the kind words. I hadn't planned on going into detail but I guess its better for people to know. In order for me to have no further complications and pain in the future I was advised that sterilization is my best bet. My husband and I decided that my health is more important than a 'What if' so we are taking the doctors advice.

I know this doesn't happen to most people but the complications of mirena are not widely known.

  5. I know how you feel, my doctor told me it would be a miracle to have a child, it's good to know your husband is so understanding and is helping you in this hard time

If only you can sue that horrible birth control company that did this to you

We hadn't made a plan to have a child yet if ever but when the choice is taken away its unfair. I'll keep you in my thoughts. I hope your dreams of having a child will happen with ease.

  6. I think this is a personal reaction with your body and not something people should just generally avoid. I have several friends on the Mirena and it's fine--I'm sorry this happened to you, though. What exactly went wrong? You can PM me if you want.

I understand a lot of people have the mirena without issues as I did for the last 10 years. When I went to get it renewed again the doctor discovered It has perforated my uterine wall and become embedded. I know this seems unusual but after doing a little research it has happened to more than a few.

Most people have no issues but I just wanted to put it out there to be careful when choosing birth control and be sure its the right choice for you.

  7. Thank you so much. Its not too serious and I should only be off my feet for a few days. I won't go into much detail but I would like to warn anyone against getting the Mirena birth control. It is because of this that I need surgery and can now no longer have children. I have the most supportive husband ever and I'm thankful for that. I just wish I had the EAD sorted before this. It would have been one less stress.

  8. Hi guys,

I've been posting in the March filers thread because I sent my AOS/EAD/AP application on Feb 29th. However, my EAD/AP still hasn't been approved and my case status has not changed from "case received" on the tracker. Today is now 70 days so I called USCIS and talked to a rep but, they just told me my case has been received and to call back after 75 days.

It seems silly to make me wait 5 days when they could start a service request now. I thought they would have better information for me than the tracker but they just told me the same info as the tracker.

Is there anyone still waiting this long for EAD/AP approval? The waiting is driving me crazy.

Congratulations MASH it seems like you also waited a long time for EAD/AP!!

I'm on day 98 and still not heard anything on EAD. When I called to enquire they told me the 90 day cycle restarts after they receive a reply to an RFIE. I've made an info pass for Monday since I know this hasn't been the case for anyone else.

I'm also having to have surgery tomorrow so I was hoping everything would be in place before tomorrow. Hopefully the wait won't be much longer.

  9. No they don't need to be certified by USCIS. It says somewhere on the medical form instructions that any doctor at a military base can perform the exam. It took a couple of weeks to get mine all done since I needed several shots and tests done but better than paying $100s and they were very thorough. Just tell the receptionist at base why you need the appointment.
