  1. The overused shoes

When I went to Davao for Christmas vacation in 2001, I found what I think was the best shoes I've ever had. It was a blue and white slip-ons with a flower on its strap. And I bought the shoes for 500 lang! Feeling ko pa, suwerte ako dahil last pair na iyun. And it was my size!

Sobrang natuwa ako sa kikay kong sapatos. At napakalambot niya! I wore the shoes everyday because they would match anything... denim, slacks, capri pants, skirt, dress. Gamit ko siya in the office, at the mall, in church, even at the beach!

Saka on sale.

    The shoes that got away

Black and white siya.

Lesson learned: Kung magpapaligaya sa atin ang isang bagay, seize the day!

  2. Thank you for the info, patiently waiting.

    Much appreciated.

I have the IRS Return Transcripts.

Looking at the IRS website, a copy of 1040 direct from IRS is about $39 for each tax year.

It also takes about 60 days since the day of request.

I assume that Manila Embassy meant the IRS Return "Transcripts"?

Maybe i'll just submit my own copy of 1040 (non-certified) in addition to the IRS Return Transcripts?

What do you or anyone think?

I was just thinking that paying $39 each for every tax year ----let's say 3 years (for 2 separate petitions); = almost $240........ is a bit much..........and I guess its too late to order that.-----(interview is in April)

Although not required, Consuls prefer 3 years of tax returns instead of just the most recent tax year di ba?

I hope Manila Embassy will accept IRS TAX RETURN /ACCOUNT "TRANSCRIPTS" instead of demanding certified copied of 1040s :crying:

Thank you, patiently waiting. We missed you here! (F)

    Francel

Does anyone know here what kind of background checks (Philippines) are done in Manila Embassy just before issuance of an Immigrant visa. My parents are done with the USCIS and NVC background checks. (IR5) Their interview is on April 2007.

What about (the background checks) in Manila Embassy? The background checks I'm referring to are like: Passport validity, authenticity,,,,, Department of Foreign Affairs check, Credit card companies check, etc. I'm sure I know my parents.....But I have not been with them for 6 years....so no one can be sure if they have any records. Who knows? Only God knows.

My parents are cleared by the NBI and Police Offices. No record. Frankly, all their NSO Birth, Marriage certificates are true. However , I am not sure what other circumstances can prevent them from getting an immigrant visa. Help! Any info will be needed. Please. Thank you. :help:

Addendum: Finished/passed Medical at St. Luke's already. Is there a service I can hire to check their National record myself? Filipino Private investigators?

Since your parents already have their passports, NBI clearance, BC, MC, and passed the medical, there is nothing to worry about. It means, they have cleared all that needs to be cleared from the Philippine-side.

For the American side, the embassy will verify proof of relationship and has probably already conducted a background check on this. During your parents interview, make sure they bring with them NSO copy of your own BC (to establish your relationship with them) and some photos of you in your younger days growing up with your parents (especially graduation pictures). Baptismal certificate, phone records, emails, letters and a record of your money remittances to them would also be helpful.

Further to our PM exchange, the embassy is not consistent about the W2 and 1040. In the one website, they indicate that faxed W2 and 1040 are acceptable http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwfirfe.pdf (see page 10 "Income Tax Return Requirement). However, in another link, they also state that it must be certified copies (unfortunately I am unable to find that link now). Only faxed copies are mentioned to be acceptable so we must assume that photocopies may not be accepted.

    Hope this helps.

I only sent Lyann a copy of my 2006 1040 (not certified) and W2 form.. i also included a Letter of Employment and copies of my last 3 paycheck stub.. the consul didn't ask for the IRS transcript.

  3. VISA DELIVERED 3/16 IN BACOLOD CITY.. LYANN IS FLYING TO SFO ON FRI THE 23RD :)

Thank you all for the nice welcome back.

But the truth is, the body pain is caused by too much diving. We did 2 dives each day and we were able to log 14 dives each. We saw a thresher shark, manta ray, sea turtles, and all kinds of fishes and corals. While Doug was ecstatic seeing those sea creatures I was half-terrified. Takot kaya ako makain ng shark!

Thanks again sillygirl for being the list caretaker. Vic&El, where was visa delivered please? It seems like we're not hearing from davidjack, binow, and jamrok so I will remove their names. Good luck to all interviewees this week ~ 49Bstreet, maylet, kismet, iya, boch and EllaJosh.

Edited to add: Oopps, speaking of jamrok, he just posted. Thanks for the news jamrok.

  4. I had my medical a week ago and blood was extracted out of my vein... i noticed that the medtech didnt have to pull up the needle while taking the blood like that of the skin testing (I KNOW THIS FOR SURE COS I AM A NURSE)... there was severe pain where the needle has been inserted but didnt mind it at all... when i was back at my hotel i then noticed that it was inflammed... i thought all the while that it would be gone in 3-4 days but then it left a mark after a week... they better know how to do it cos a hematoma on the left arm is very ugly :( .. this is how it looks like....

  5. APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!! :star::dance: :dance: :star:

I heard from Mari and we are approved! In fact ALL the VJers were approved today! Seems like February is "Clear The Backlog!" month.

Congrats to all the new Visa holders!!

Mari said her interview was very easy. The final interviewer was nice and friendly. He even allowed her to arrange for Visa pick-up at the embassy. Sometimes things can go just as you hope.

Also, Mari had a great time at the dinner the night before. She really enjoyed being in such a warm and friendly group!! I wish I could have been there and lifted a glass with all of you. Thanks Gary for hosting!! I'm looking forward to seeing the pics.

Mari and I are so grateful for this site and the great contributions from so many people. We couldn't have done this without ya!!

    Eric :D

Congratulations.. i'm so happy for you guys :)

  6. Hi Everyone- Well its getting close to the interview. I dont know whos more nervous-Myself or Marie  But anyway-I was hoping someone might be able to tell me a good place for Marie to stay at for the interview and medical exam. The total time will be about 2 weeks I think but depends on how long it will take for the Visa to be issued. She insists it doesnt have to be anything real nice, just so its clean and has cable television and a shower. Something kinda cose to embassy also-she is worried about getting caught in traffic. Thanks Ahead of time- Gary

    check this out!!!

    hotels very near the areas:

for medical : City Garden Suites and Hotel Soriente

for interview : Miramar Hotel and Bayview Park hotel

  7. Hi Lyann and Joone! Congrats once again on ur interview sched. Its getting closer now.

I did my CFO last January 24 - I arrived at PRISMS (Taft) together with WOF and VJ girls (Steve-n-Ana, Thersch, felnfrank and Lebby) 12:30pm and registered for 1:30pm session, theres a film viewing about abused filipina married to a Dutch and then open forum discussion and one and one counselling - they asked for pictures, divorce decree and asked about our love story. got my certificate of attendance at 4pm then hurried to CFO main office (quirino - 50pesos by taxi) to get the green certificate.. and then the STICKER later on when i already have my visa. CFO main office closes at 5pm so its better to be able to attend the seminar earlier so you can accomplish everything in just 1 day. I paid 400+300 for the CFO.

And i did my medical Jan 25-26. 1st day started early, we lined up at 6:45am then presented my Appointment Letter to the guard and got a number 160 and forms to fillup and a working flowchart, then when my number was called i gave 1 visa pic and went upstairs to pay PhP4,655 and the medical process begins - X-Ray, Blood extractions and Urinalysis, Vital signs and Physical checkup and Immunization interview and then checked out at around 2pm and told to comeback the next day at 10am. At 2nd day, arrived 10pm and then after a few minutes my name was called for vaccination and then went to the ground floor to wait for the result and called around noon and gave my passport and 2 visa pics., they handed me the Xray film and the vaccination worksheet.

All in all, it was an easy experience except for the waiting when your name be called. Coz its not first come first serve there.

Hope this helps and if you dont have the Packet 4 yet, try downloading first the packet 4 found in the US embassy website or in Sheriff Uling's signature so that you can compile now the documents needed for the interview.

And im just an IM or text away for any clarification or questions! Hope to meet you in Manila. :star:

    Ingat lagi,

    Mari

thanks fof the help!! - Lyann

  8. are you referring to the other country police certificates listed as required documents in the Appointment Packet? if so , you are only required to submit the other country police cetificate if you lived overseas for six months or more after reaching the age of 16.

for the medical, bring copy of appointment letter, passport and I think 3 passport style photos.

check Sheriff Ulings signature, you'll find lots of helpful links there.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!
