Hey everyone! I just come back from my interview and it went very well, a very smooth process overall…. And yes, I passed!
Here is a short summary:
Once at the office (San Jose), I waited about 10 minutes before an officer called me in. She was very kind during the whole interview, she first asked to see my appointment letter, my passport, my green card and ID (I applied for N-400 based on 5 year LPR eligibility rule), and then we started with the test. She only asked 6 civics questions:
- What is freedom of religion?
- where is the Statue of Liberty?
- Who signs bills to become laws?
- When was the Constitution written?
- What did Martin Luther King, Jr. do?
- Why does the flag have 50 stars?
and then she proceeded to ask me to read "what state has the most people", and to write "California has the most people".
The rest of interview consisted of questions on my identity (full name, marital status, employer, address, date and place of birth, etc…), and then the usual yes or no questions regarding criminal activities, and then questions regarding my willingness to take the oath.
After that they had me wait another 20 minutes to receive my Oath ceremony notice, the ceremony is scheduled for April 28. Voilà!
Good luck to everyone ♥️

If you check the documents tab within your USCIS account it should have a copy of the letter there.
Oh yes, thank you! My interview is scheduled for April 20th (my FO is San Jose, CA)

Congratulations! When is your interview?
Thank you! It doesn’t say, will it get updated later on with the date, or will I know when I receive the interview notice by mail?

Just randomly checked my account, and my case got updated to “Interview was scheduled” yesterday! I didn’t expect it to happen so soon (I filed on Dec. 21), I’m so excited!
also congratulations to the December folks who got approved!! 🥳🎉

So happy to see December folks getting their interviews scheduled! Congratulations to all of you, you are almost done with this whole process (bye bye USCIS)!!
I’m not expecting to hear anything before March / April on my side (my FO is San Jose, CA), but seeing your messages makes me hopeful so I keep checking my account from time to time 😁

I filed this past December (my local office is San Jose as well) and haven’t received the interview notice yet, but according to the immigration timelines for the N400 in San Jose, the wait time looks to be a bit all over the place between same day to over 2 months between the interview and the oath ceremony (but for most it’s about 1 month) https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=San+Jose+CA&op1=8&op2=&op4=1&op5=5%2C10%2C11&cfl=0

I just submitted online today! And now the waiting journey begins 😁 !

My case was transferred beginning of December from WAC to NBC. Never had biometrics and I just got my 10 year greencard approval letter in the mail.
So hopefully everyone who have had the same case move happen to them will be approved soon. 😊
That’s great news! Congratulations! 😊

Hey all,
I received a notice today that my case (WAC) was transferred to the National Benefits Center.... Hopefully it means someone is going to work on it soon.

I hear ya... I just emailed my lawyer asking for guidance, as my window for the N400 opens up in 2 weeks. I'm a bit torn, not sure if applying now will help or slow things down even more
😕

HA! and today it says "Any day now!" - this estimate is all over the place... *sigh*
Same here!
Right now I am debating whether It’s better to wait until this process is over before applying for citizenship.... Or just send everything now, and be done with it.

Hey all!
After hiatus of 2 years it's go-time again. Because my husband and I are the best procastinators in the world, we didnt file till the 26. And my GC expires at 11/7. So let's hope I get that receipt before that. I also got a new job, were I need my license for starting wednesday 😅
I actually live right next to the lockbox here in Phoenix, but they didn't let me drop it off. It had to be send out and send back in again, took 4 days 🙄
Just to be sure, I read everywhere that travelling is fine with with the receipt. Do I need to do anything extra? I have a big trip to Japan coming up in December.
Yes, to travel outside of the US you will need the original extension letter and the expired green card 🙂

I'm starting to feel depressed... We had our interview last wednesday, it went fine but since then we didn't get any news, we don't even know if our petition was approved, nothing... I guess having the interview the day before Thanksgiving didn't help, but still...
And also no news about the EAD/AP of course.

I need to wait for the EAD card to issue a ssn?
No, but you need to prove your immigrant status. You can bring a copy of your I-94.

Hello everyone please help just checked my status and its ready for interview it has not giving me a date of when exactly am panking what do I do?
Your status is "ready to be scheduled for an interview" or "interview is scheduled" ?
If it's the latter one, you should receive the appointment letter in the next days, I received mine the day after the status updated to "interview is scheduled" (and they normally give you the date of the interview in the online status).
And if your status is "ready to be scheduled for an interview", then it just means you have to wait for your local office to set an interview date (which can take days, weeks or even months).

HI VJ,
I have been working on getting my wife on as many of our accounts possible for our end of Nov interview.
So far I have:
-2 joint bank accounts
-Authorized Credit card user.
-Power/Gas Utility Bill
-Comcast Bill
-Beneficiary of 401k
-Beneficiary of life insurance
-Open enrollment document showing joint health care for 2018
Own car but CA requires an EAD for an ID/DL card to put her on.
The lease is in my name, however I am not sure if I can get her on, since I am the primary income earner and that's all the land lord cares about. I'm dont believe I can change this.
Is the joint lease needed?

The date was notified with the change of status on the USCIS website. I will receive the appointment letter in the next days I guess. My NOA1 is 08/28, so I was surprised I wasn't expecting it now, especially that my office (Sacramento) is processing February 2017 cases as of now according to the USCIS website.

Thank you!
I didn’t load anything but scans of my green card and marriage certificate with my application.
The IO only asked for my passport, my green card and ID. I did bring more documents with me just in case (marriage certificate, my husband’s birth certificate, tax transcripts) but she didn’t ask to see anything else. There is a list of what you need to bring on the interview notice, and it depends on what rule you applied to N400 (3 year rule vs 5 year rule).
Good luck with your interview!
