  1. I am filling out the AOS and EAD forms, which include completing the i-864 application (Affidavit of support). Specifically, Part 3.

I am assuming I am checking off "YES" for my wife. Her children will join us later and I understand they will go through the same process of medical, etc. to get their Visas (K2s). Do I need to specify them here on Part 3? It's just a little confusing.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

  2. Hi All,

I am just trying to understand the process for K2 visas for my K-1 FIance's (now wife) children.

    • My finance is from the Philippines received her K-1 Visa in October 2015
      • Note: 2 of her children were included on the Visa application but will travel later in 2016
    • She traveled to the US on 1/16/2016
    • We married on 2/18/2016
    • I am now submitting the AOS and EAD applications for my new wife

My question is, do I need to do anything for her children yet? My understanding is this:

    • The children will apply for a K2 Visa (assuming I do that on the Manila Embassy site)?
    • The children plan to arrive in the US in July/August of 2016
    • When the children arrive, I can then request an AOS at that time (I am assuming my wife's AOS/EAD will be approved by that time).

Any clarification will be most helpful. Thanks for all your help as always.

  3. On my timeline, I submitted a comment about the embasy review that I would update after interview (probably should have left it alone). As a result, it defaulted the Rating to Very Poor (see below), but that was not the case. Where do I go to update this info? I didn't see it accessible on my timeline.

    Thanks,

Event Description Review Date : September 21, 2015 Embassy Review : Will Update after the interview. Rating : Very Poor
  4. Hi All,

My fiance and I married on 2/18 in Arizona. When I filled out the marriage certificiate, I specifically asked them if we should put her new name (my last name) on the form. They said NO, that it had to be what was on her Passport.

Now I am filling out the SSN (SS-5), the I-486 (AOS) and the I-795 (EAD) forms and using her new name. Is there something else I should be doing to make sure the new name is accepted?

    Thank you.

  5. Hi All,

My fiance and I will be married this week in the US (she's been here for 1 month). I am working on the i-485 document to have it ready once we are married. My fiance's two children eligible to join us as part of the K-1 Visa will not be joining us until the school year ends (July 2016). Knowing that, I am not sure how to fill out the Part 3 section, B of the I-485, it asks for my info (the spouse & US Citizen) as well as my fiance's children. I am including all her children (4), but of the two that are eligible to come over within the year period, should I be checking off the box that says "Applying with you"? I know for me and her other children, the answer is "No", but wasn't sure about her children that will join us later.

    Thanks for your help,

    Charlie

  6. Hi everyone as always thanks for your help and your quick respos9. We found the CD and as most of you mentioned, it was never asked for. We arrived in the US last night. They asked her one question in the US and took her embassy package. That was it. The biggest hassle was waiting for luggage. ?

  7. All. Fiancé just finished her CFO session and has the stamp in the passport. Yay.

Question. They (CFO) provides her a pamphlet that included things to bring. One was the CD Package that WAS in the envelope received from the embassy. Is it in there? Will they open the package in the Philippines because I thought it was only supposed to be open in the US. Thanks for your help.

Btw, she received a copy but is not sure where she placed it. She thought it was not needed anymore and dos not keep it with all her papers. Thanks again.

  8. Greenbaum,

Thanks so much. She will have her passport. So we will fly to Cebu on the 14th, she has her appointment on the 15th and we will fly back to Manila on the 15th at night to take our flight to the US on the 16th in the early AM.

We are really cutting it close. Again, thank you so much for the information.

  9. Thanks everyone. Looks like we will reschedule the flight. Unfortunately, I was flying to the Philippines to escort her to the US, but now I would have to change 4 flights (and additional fees) + extend my hotel stay and it's just too much $. She'll have to fly alone. Oh well,

I appreciate all your feedback, recommendations and links.

  10. My fiancé is scheduled to travel from the Philippines to the US on 1/16. She said that she just noticed a seminar she needs to take called the Pre Departure (PDOS) for K1 Visa Holders. She checked the next available session and it is on the 16th, but we have an early flight out.

    Is the seminar required?

    Thanks,

    Charles

  11. 2-3 days after it was issue, we received it. It was issued on a Thursday and on Monday saw the status change to Preparing Documents for Delivery (something like that) and then the next day went to Out For Delivery and received an SMS message saying the same.

  12. My Fiance just received her packet yesterday and she has the same issue (Manila/Philippines). No flights scheduled yet, but since the package is still sealed, I'm assuming there is no issue. Also, the warning says not to open the sealed package, yet the Passport/Visa is within the sealed package. A little confusing. I told her just to keep it as is.
