    Hello everyone,

    Its been almost 5 months since I applied for my N400 application. Can you please share from your personal experience, how long did you guys wait for the interview from the day you applied? I am already freaking out..

    Thank you

    I applied at the end of September/18 and my interview will be in April

  2. Hello guys,

    I just received my 10 year green card and noticed what may cause some trouble:

    Example :
    In passport
    Given name -Jane
    Surname - Smith Doe

    In 2 year green card (expired):

    Given name -Jane
    Surname - Smith Doe

    In 10 year green card:

    Give name - Jane S

    Surname - Doe

    Does anyone have this same problem? I saw that to correct it I have to send it back...which sounds like a terrible idea...

    Please let me know of your experiences.

    Thank you!

  3. Hello,

    Does anyone know how long it takes after the "card was mailed" for the tracking number to show up?

    My status changed today to say "card was mailed" so I called USCIS to find the tracking number, the tier 2 representative told me they didn't have it yet but he also told me they would mail it to my OLD address! At that point I start freaking out because I changed it as soon as I moved, more than 3 months ago and I even called several times over the past few months to confirm it was updated. I moved from NYC to Chicago so I am pretty nervous about where my card will end up going.

    Thank you!!!!

    Edit: to add that I asked the tier 2 to please do something so that it could be sent to my current address and he informed that unfortunately nothing could be done and that I would have to wait until the card is returned to USCIS.

    TLDR: How long after "case was mailed" before tracking number shows up?

  4. Hello guys,

    I am confused: on the  https://egov.uscis.gov/  says "card being produced" but on the case history it says "We received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, and we are working on your case. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you." so I don't know whether to be happy or not...also if I check my case status on https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do without signing up into my account I can only see "new card is being produced".... I have been so nervous and anxious about all of this that I doubt everything...did anyone else get this weird "contradictory" information between the status and the case history?

    Also on my.uscis.gov it still says "We have received your case" and it is dated February 27, 2018 (which is an odd date!).

    Edit: I just saw that @AliaAlia has the same update on "case history"....

  5. @Coogah I traveled internationally twice with my I551 stamp, on the first trip I was alone and so I was taken to secondary inspection and they didn't ask me any questions, just got my papers, looked at it and stamped my passport, it took less than 5 minutes. On the other trip I was with my husband, the US Citizen and I was not taken to secondary inspection (mind you that we dont share last names).

    Dont worry, it should be easy, especially if you are with your US Citizen spouse.

  6. Maybe someone can shed me some light:

    §319.1   Persons living in marital union with United States citizen spouse.

    (a) Eligibility. To be eligible for naturalization under section 319(a) of the Act, the spouse of a United States citizen must establish that he or she:

    (1) Has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States;

    (2) Has resided continuously within the United States, as defined under §316.5 of this chapter, for a period of at least three years after having been lawfully admitted for permanent residence;

    (3) Has been living in marital union with the citizen spouse for the three years preceding the date of examination on the application, and the spouse has been a United States citizen for the duration of that three year period;

    (4) Has been physically present in the United States for periods totaling at least 18 months;

    (5) Has resided, as defined in §316.5 of this chapter, for at least 3 months immediately preceding the filing of the application, or immediately preceding the examination on the application if the application was filed early pursuant to section 334(a) of the Act and the three month period falls within the required period of residence under section 316(a) or 319(a) of the Act, in the State or Service district having jurisdiction over the alien's actual place of residence;

    When is an application filed early pursuant to section 334(a) of the Act? Does anyone here know? FYI I was in compliance with the (90 days before the 3 year anniversary rule).

    Thank you!!!

  7. Don't even tell me about it...it is 100% my fault for not reading the guidelines or for maybe entering the date my lease started and not the date I arrive in Illinois as beginning of residency, but in any case, the online form alerts you in case you try applying before the other 90 day window (in my case 90 day before the 3 year anniversary) and so it should somehow alert of the 3 months in the same state as well...

    I just saw a old case of someone here at visa journey that applied 92 before the 3 year anniversary and was denied.

    That's why I am considering withdrawing my application, it may look better to withdraw than to get denied.

  8. Hello,

    I recently applied for citizenship, but I guess I didn't do a good job reading the requirements and missed the 3 month residency requirement. I had recently moved to Illinois from New York and at the day I applied for citizenship I was officially living here for 88 days (2 months 27 days).

    I say officially because I signed my lease in Illinois 88 days before my application, but I had arrived in Chicago 2 days before (so 90 days) and spend those days with a friend.

    I understand I will get a denial based on the residency requirement, to avoid wasting more time, waiting for interview, etc just to be denied, can I withdrawal my application?

    I feel so stupid by making such a terrible and avoidable mistake.

    Thank you so much for any help/advice.

  9. Hello,

    I need some urgent help!

    I currently have an I751 case pending, I placed an expedite request, got an RFE from USCIS which contained my I751 receipt number but a different receipt number under the instructions for answering via fax, which made me confused. I decided to put the different receipt number on my case tracker and it is from a case dating back to 2014, so it is not ours, we weren't even married in 2014. I want to remove the case from the case tracker. I am afraid USCIS will somehow see that I am tracking someone else's case and that it will get me in trouble. I cannot figure out how to remove the case from my dashboard. Does anyone know how to do it?

    Thank you!!!

  10. Hello everyone,

    I moved to Chicago several months ago and have been waiting for my permanent GC to be processed over the past year. My extension letter has since expired, and I have a stamp in my passport that permits me to re-enter the country that will expire in October/18. I submitted my N-400 two weeks ago, and wanted to confirm how my case will be processed given that it seems Chicago handles some things differently. Am I to now expect that my GC will not be approved until my N-400 application is expected to be processed (Oct-19), at which point I will only be approved for my GC and will have to wait another year before  coming up for citizenship? My GC was supposed to be approved any day now, and I am concerned that my process will be extended almost another year because of the things I have read here that Chicago is the only office that will not simultaneously conduct interviews for the GC and citizenship. Please help!

  11. Hello everyone.

    I've been looking at this post for a while and decided to share my case. NOA1 is June 19, 2017 (EAC17263XXXXX) and today I got the very first e-mail saying they are still reviewing my case and last action was on June 13, 2018.

    June 13 happens to be the date on the RFE I got for an expedite request. I called mostly to inquiry the status because I was about to start a new job and they were asking for my green card and the Tier 1 representative basically pushed me into an expedite request. It turned out that my employer accepted the other documents I provided and now I don't know if I should answer the RFE or simply let it go. Does anyone know if not answering an RFE for an expedite request may delay the case?

    Thank you very much and congratulations to all of you that have already been approved!
