  1. As already mentioned I married to US citizen in 2006. I got my EAD and SSN afterwards and eventually a job .

    Hi Ans,

Don't worry, you'll get your US Citizenship eventually....:) In the meantime, enjoy your new US 10yr Green Card and Permanent Residency status for awhile (the next 2-3 years) until you apply for US Citizenship.

Oh yeah, you're lucky to get the 10yr card instead....(and that in itself is worth the compensation for having to wait so long!)

Wish I could have done the same, as it would have saved me $545+ and 10+ months of USCIS hell going through the Removal of Conditions stage recently, especially for a card that I'll hardly ever/never really get to use (only for about 6 months or so on a 10yr card..grr...), as I would have to give that up for US Citizenship anyways!..

Oh well, I can't complain about that now since I now have my 10yr green card (errr...6 month card...) and eventually citizenship...

By the way, I'm curious as to how you survived so long in the USA without legal status while your AOS green card case was processing?...Did you have any problems with not have a green card, SSN card, or other US identifications and documents?

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too.

I wish i could have applied for naturalization earlier . But just because of FBI name check issue now i am 2 year behind the normal schedule. Most of applicants who applied in 2006 for adjustment of status and got Conditional Resident card , this year they can apply for naturalization .

Anyhow I am happy that at least they sent me 10 year card and i do not have to apply for removal of condition .

  3. Thanks, the information was very helpful.

FYI!!The reason I got my card after such a long wait was FBI name check and clearnace. 2 months ago i made an infopass appointment to inquire about my case and they told me your case was approved in June of 2008 but no body bothered to inform you and we would send you a new card. Now my new card is 10 year one with date of permanant residence for June of 2008.

By the way I have been married to Us citizen for almost three and half years now.

    Hi Ans,

Wow, I can't believe that you had to wait 3 years for your green card! Why the long delay, I wonder?... :o

Either way, glad that you got your 10yr green card recently. Lol...at least that is some kind of compensation from the USCIS for having you wait that long, since by waiting that long you got your 10yr card instead of a 2yr one and don't have to go through the I-751 removal of conditions stage now.

As for applying for US Citizenship, I would probably go by your "residence since" date, which is "June 2008", when you officially became a Permanent Resident and is on your 10yr Green Card. From that date, add 3 years (if you are applying based on marriage) minus 90 days, and that's when you can apply for US Citizenship (assuming that you have met the residency, marriage, and other citizenship application requirements too). If in doubt though, as the USCIS further about this.

As for going to social security, if you had a social security card before, then yes, do update them of your new current permanent residency status, especially so if your previous card was a restricted SSN card.

And if you didn't have a social security card before, yes, you definitely have to apply for one of those, as it very commonly used here in the USA and you certainly do need one of those!

As for after US Citizenship, you have to update social security again, about your new US Citizenship status, but your number and card stay the same with you for the rest of your life.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.

  4. I remember long time ago my name was in the list "ANS" Please update my case . My case approved on May 27 with production of card ordered . Thanks

    =======================================================================

Does anyone know exactly at which point of the AOS process the FBI name check is initiated? At our interview the officer seemed to indicate that it is started soon after the USCIS originally receives the AOS application. Also, we were wondering if the name check is only performed on the "alien"?

I have no idea....i wonder if Lorelle knows?

One would think it begins after biometrics are taken.

What disheartens me about Wes' card is that his bios were taken 12/20/05. The file was touched on 12/28 and shows no movement since then.

Now we all know that is completely incongruous because we were interviewed 3/9/06 and the file was certainly 'touched' that day......for pity sake I had my own two eyes on it!

I realize that one can't rely on posted dates on USCIS.gov but give me a break. The date makes it look like the fingerprints were put in the file and there has been nothing done since.... :(

  5. I received welcome letter on May 27 , 2009

. I am so happy after three years of waiting finally my case ( I 485) get approve. I encourage every body with I 485-I 130 pending adjust of status who are beyond timeline processing time to make an info pass appointment and inquire about the case. At info pass apoointment on April 25 ,2009, I just asked it is almost 3 years and why my case is still pending. She said well your case was approved in June of 2008 but we forgot to update the case and inform you.

  7. I received this memorandum. Bottom line is that USCIS should provide green card to applicants of I 485;I 607,I 687,I 698 if FBI name check is pending more than 180 days. Please review this memorandum and correct me if i am wrong. I hope it is a good news for people like me who have been waiting for almost 18 months now.

  8. My wife (petitioner) called USCIS on --/--/07 about status of application. Today i received a letter from USCIS mentioning that your I 130 was approved last year on July --.If you did not receive approval letter you need to file I 824 and send $340 money order.

We did not receive any thing about approval before in mail or email notification and beneficiary (me ) waiting for FBI check.

    what is I 824 ?

Why should i file $340 while on form it is said filing fee is $190?

  10. I just e-filed my I-131 application for advanced parole, but when I clicked on the 'finish' icon to show the PDF receipt, my browser crashed.

I saw that there was an email address to mail if the pdf didn't open and you wanted to request a copy, but unfortunately I didn't note it down before the browser closed/crashed.

Does anyone have that email address, and know what info I have to send to it?

The reason I want to check that it filed ok is that firstly, if I wait the recommeded time to receive a confirmation by post, it will be too late to re-apply if my e-filing didn't work. And secondly, the e-filing form asks you to write down your reasons for wanting to leave and re-enter on a piece of paper, but didn't apear to tell me what to do with that written information. It seems for the seperate online instructions (which I should have read more thoroughly beforehand, but foolishly assumed the e-filling process would explain everything as I went through it), that I also need to provide two ID photo's. I can't however send any of this additional information to the local service centre without a copy of the e-filing confirmation which I don't yet have. You'd think they'd send a confirmation by email!?

    Thanks.

(I tried calling the national helpline number... anyone whose tried this is probably already laughing. Why do they even bother to set up a help line wich is engineered as far a possible to NOT help you. Once I called enough times to get someone who was willing to speak english, I was finally asked if I had another question, other than the one I was calling about, which I'd like to ask... so, other than what I'm calling you about that you refuse to help me with, is there anything I'd like you to help me with. Crazy!)

    *tut*

E-Filing.Support@dhs.gov, is the email . But you have to tell them about the receipt number/ and A# . i was in same situation as your and i got confirmation in 2 days.

  11. send your renewal application to Chicago per instructions.

For status we put: Post AOS interview pending FBI namecheck

For USCIS office (under have you applied before) we put our local office where we had our interview.

Thanks for your quick response. As i am doing it online i cannot find these options while filling out.Do you suggest me to do it online by e-filing?
