  1. Oh my god, it arrived exactly a week after our ivterview. I was so worried, I thought we were not approved and they will mail us a decision that's why its taking so long. But, oh my god, we are so excited. We will finally be married after 4.5 years of a long engagment and 6 years of knowing each other. After such a long wait I'm so nervous to see him and oh my god I can't breath :dance:

  2. My fiance had his K-1 interview yesterday, we don't know if we are granted a visa or not. He said the lady didn't ask him anything nor said anything except 'your medical report is good which was expected from a doctor' (my fiance is a doctor). And then she made him raise his right hand and said seems like everything is fine you will be notified in mail, pay the courier fee at the counter.... Does that mean we have gotten a visa or will they notify us of a decesion in mail???? she didnt' say "congratulations you are approved" or 'welcome".

  3. Marriage is marriage whether it is done with religious rituals or by the civil authority. You are husband and wife after marriage regardless of it is done along with religious ceremony or it is done by civil authority. You should get married after you arrive in the US, as it is a must for K-1. It is a clear violation of K-1, if you marry in your country and then hide it during the interview. You could be denied visa based on this fact. So why do you wanna mess it up? If you want to marry in your country in front of your families and with religious ceremony, CR-1 and K-3 options are available for you.

Should you decide to marry first in your country, then you can go for CR-1 and K-3.

I don't know much about immigration, but I explained my situation to a lawyer and I called INS this is what they advised me to do. Plus, we are not going to hide it since my finace went to England on Student visa telling them he was partially married.
