COMANCHE, Texas (KWTX) - Three rodeo horses considered to be like “family” to the owners were killed during an attack from Africanized bees, the Comanche Volunteer Fire Department said in a social media post. On Friday, May 9, the Comanche VFD responded to a call about bees attacking horses on FM 590. First responders said the owners of the horses sustained numerous bee stings while attempting to move the horses away from the attacking swarm. Comanche County EMS arrived on scene and quickly took the two owners into the ambulance. Firefighters arrived on scene with a brush truck. Comanche VFD says one of the firefighters and one of the horse owners put on protective bee suits to get to the wounded horses. Cameron Hamilton, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, was escorted out of FEMA’s headquarters on Thursday, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. “It’s at the discretion of (Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem) to have the personnel she prefers,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told CNN, confirming that DHS official David Richardson will take over for Hamilton effective immediately. McLaughlin declined to explain why Hamilton was removed from the post. Vicki Stuart, a 64-year-old former postal worker, admitted in a plea agreement Monday to engaging in identity theft and forgery in the 2024 presidential election. The accused admitted in court to one count each of theft and forgery, Colorado Public Radio report. Authorities charged Stuart with 34 counts in connection to a ballot theft scheme. Stuart and another woman allegedly stole over a dozen ballots in Mesa County before they could be delivered to their intended recipients and fraudulently cast them. “I feel like I am guilty for the part that I played in it,” Stuart told Judge Brian Flynn about why she accepted the plea deal. Washington, DC CNN — Driverless trucks are officially running their first regular long-haul routes, making roundtrips between Dallas and Houston. On Thursday, autonomous trucking firm Aurora announced it launched commercial service in Texas under its first customers, Uber Freight and Hirschbach Motor Lines, which delivers time- and temperature-sensitive freight.
