I DO see what you mean about the high school certificate thing
I'm glad the same wording made you happy. Definitely a national police certificate!
I bet you're excited about the interview!
Kinda
My priority atm is the medical @.@ Not a fan of doctors
I also don't have an interview date yet, as I was waiting on the consulate to give me notice as to what to do about my police certificate. I think I might wait till Friday, or Monday when I'm at the medical before I send it in... perhaps... @.@ too. much. waiting.
-
Wow... yours IS pretty
See? Highschool certificate x.X It appears to be the same wording though, so that makes me happy.
-
Congrats to Kath for being in your house!
Weird you guys are saying the police certificate looks lame, I thought mine looked pretty cool with all those different security features. Mine was from Sydney. Maybe they've changed it. Make sure your certificate says "name and fingerprints" not just "name". I know the name only one is a lot less impressive than the fingerprint one.
Security... features?
I just got a blue piece of paper saying "Police Certificate issued by Queensland Police Service. This is to certify blahdeblahdeblah'. Says it checked my name and fingerprints, and has my date of birth there too.. all in Lucinda Calligraphy font :\
It at least has an actual signiture though, not a photocopy, and came in a qld government envelope...
okay, now I'm *really* concerned...

Thanks Niphredil!
Yeah that part asking for DS-230 part I sounds wrong but since it only required your signature I would resend it and mention you sent a copy already to the NVC a while back. As for the police cert, I went with my wife when to the Penrith Police station in NSW and she will be getting her Name and Fingerprint check sent home instead of the embassy.
When you send the DS-2001, are you supposed to put all that extra documentation with it? Or are those items you bring with you and personally hand in on your interview date?
From my understanding, the only thing you send back with DS-2001 is DS-230 part 2 unsigned (and part 1 if you haven't done it and they send it to you) and the e-mail correspondence letter if you want e-mail correspondence (with, since mail takes about 4 days to get to me, I will be doing
)
Everything else is a 'you must have before you send off DS-2002'. It however doesn't mention the Medical, and from talking to the receptionist, that will take about 1-2 weeks to compile and send to me (yay for living in the bush x.X, can't go and pick it up), so I'm hoping I'm not jumping the gun if I decide to send in my form this week (still waiting to hear from them in regards to the police certificate x.X).
I must admit, I am worried about the police certificate because.... :\ it looks like a grade 8 highschool certificate for being best in class x.X Oohh snazzy blue paper. I was expecting something saying "address - stayed for so long - no convictions. *next line* "address - stayed for so long - no convictions"*, not something I would confuse with one of my highschool certificate :\

Congrats Niphredil! Can you tell me what the Packet 3 letter consists of? I am hoping that my wife gets that letter soon!
Lessee...
Information pack telling whats to happen next and what paperwork you need to acquire (birth certificate, wedding cert etc)
Police Certificate Information (which is wigging me out a bit)
Medical Exam information (lists all the doctors you could go to) as well as the Medical Examination paperwork
DS-230 Part 2 (no part 1 as I had already sent that to USA)
DS-2001 - notification of applicant readiness
and another piece of paper asking if you want correspondance via e-mail.
I received nothing in regards to Affidavit of Support, or as mentioned before the DS-230 Part 1 (even though all this paperwork says to send in DS-230 part 1 x.X how can I when they already have it?)
The police certificate is wigging me out a little because I already had it done in August, and it's mentioning that QLD and NSW police are to send the certificates to the embassy itself, so I flew off an e-mail to ask if it's alright if I just bring it with me to the interview. I wouldn't think it'd be a huge hassle......... (yeah, and last time I assumed, our file had gone missing for 7 months and we didn't know x.X)
The operator services are still 'out of order' atm, I think it's only till the 14th though. So hopefully their e-mail service is at least operating x.X

Packet 3 came =)
Now to organise medicals and flights and photos oh my!
-
WOOHOO
NVC finally completed our case on the 17th. Phew.
Though I do amuse at the idea of it going out of overworked American workers because of the fee rise, to now go to overworked Australian workers because of APEC
Out of the frying pan and into the fire, but that light is definitly looking a lot brighter at the end of the tunnel!

I think it's 'copies' of I-864, but with original signiture.

Lessee. At school I was competitive swimmer (regularly came second... I was a sure bet for it) and soccer, played baseball and always looked forward to P.E (well except for the teacher, he was an ###).
Got out of school and moved to where I had to walk 30 mins up and down a hill *each way* to go to 'University'.
and now for the past hmm 5 years, I walk for 45 mins- an hour 5-7 days a week, and once in a while do the Claudia Shieffer workout video.
... and I'm still obese :\
Only time I lost weight was when I was on a diet of water, diet coke and an egg...
-
The one I visit is http://www.matesupover.com/index.php . It has a map where you can enter your details and find others living in the same area, and I think they sometimes have 'meet-ups', but seeing as I'm still stuck in Australia, I haven't really contributed much
-
I think the wand still has a choice... *shrugs* I'm confused about it all, thats about the only logical conclusion I can come up with atm

I am not sure and I will have to get back to the book (since I've only read it once), but does Neville actually use the Gryffindor Sword?? I remember it's something metallic and shiny, but I cant recall that it's actually the sword.
Hmm, correct
"In one swift, fluid motion neville broke free of the Body-Bind Curse upon him; the flaming Hat fell off him and he drew from it's depths something silver, with a glittering, rubied handle-" Page 587 - The Flaw in the Plan.
... which as far as we know, is the Gryffindor Sword, and it had to be a magical object strong enough to break a Horcrux, which we knew the Sword could do. Course, it could be a 'replica' goblin-made sword *shrugs*., not sure if Goblins do... OOHH hang on... oh wait nm, the copy is wizard-made (page 245 - the goblin's revenge). I thought for a moment that the goblin Griphook made a replica and exchanged that for the real one. Oh well, I tried
And you bring up a new interesting point about Tonks and Lupin's kid. Maybe thats where the 'new' HP series will come in? gotto leave room for a sequel ;P Isn't that like a golden rule
-
Thats how I get.
One time, I think it was like my 3rd trip over, I had this weird sensation over me whilst waiting in LAX. It felt like... I was going to a friends house that lived down the street.... except this street was on the other side of the world.
The first time I had no idea what I was doing, and I had flights all over the place. In LAX, I actually got on a bus to get to the next terminal I needed to go to... which was actually right next to it XD, and then later in DFW, I WALKED from one terminal to the next, which most definitly wasn't next to each other.
Your head goes all over the place. If I have an hour before my flight leaves, I *try* and relax, but I'm a bundle of nerves, but then 20 mins before we go, I'm sitting down, drinking a coffee and reading a magazine.... till 5 mins before we leave and it's a mad dash to finish the drink and make sure my boarding pass is in my pocket for the 20th time
I also have this weird fascination with Airports *shrugs* I suppose it's the thrill of seeing my hubby again mixed with fun and adventure
-
If you're *really* worried, I'd try and find an online picture of the airport and try and find what terminal you'll be in, which hopefully should be easy since you're flying United all the way.. more then likely wont have to change terminals (unlike DFW
)
http://www.flysfo.com/web/page/index.jsp
I'm guessing this is the airport you'll be going into. If it is, United appears to land in at G Terminal. United Domestic is at F, right next door to it
3 hours, being as you are going all the way on the same airline, shouldn't be much of a problem. ALSO! when leaving Australia, ask the check-in person if they can book you all the way to your destination. If they can give you all of your boarding passes, you wont have to check back in after going through customs/immigration. I regularly do that with Qantas/AA.
-
This is the problem we had too. As far I knew, we get married *had to be outside USA though*, and then you send in some paperwork to USCIS, wait a while, and voila, greencard.
I thought USCIS did *everything*.
After waiting 7 months, and finally found visajourney, I found out we were supposed to receive something 2 weeks after sending it in. Nothing. Found out, they liked the money, but not the paperwork and have no record of us *but they could tell us they had sent us a case number?*
*shrugs* they certaintly make it frustrating ><

http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/befor.../baggageChecked
for Qantas
I've heard if flying domestic, just explain you got off/onto an international flight, and they may waive the costs, but I think it's to their discretion...
-
May wanna try with the actual airline site you're using.
Generally it's something like that. There's carryon + a purse/notebook bag too. Domestics are a pain since they're usually only about 1 bag.
Who are you flying with?
-
A boy named Albus Severus will get beat up on the playground.
.. and Scorpius won't?
Course, he'll make the ultimate revenge and become SCORPIUS, RULER OF THE UNIVERSE, but till then, he's gonna get beaten behind the sheds till he's black 'n blue

I'm Australian...
'nuff said
We're the GODS of being asked stupid questions XD
Actually, it hasn't been so bad. They've done the whole 'joking around and asking stupid questions about riding kangaroos and living next door to the Prime Minister', but sometimes....
I had a friend once ask me, in all seriousness, which I guess was what threw me..... if Australia had an Army.
*blink blink*
Okay, fair enough question. Except she had this annoying habit of informing you she was an ARMY BRAT and has 'travelled the world' (the world meaning Germany).

CONGRATULATIONS!
time for me soon enough!
My anxiety has relieved - just a little.
Apparently, there was a snag at NVC with my husband's AoS papers, in regards to joint sponsorship. Basically, they didn't put in 'N/A' where applicable, and just left it blank. *rolls eyes* Nit picky, but I guess anyone could come in afterwards and put in anything if they were devious enough.
So here I am, waiting to find out if they've sent the paperwork back yet or what, so I give him a call, and get his mother instead. She's sending it back tomorrow, but needs to call NVC again just to make sure thats all (because both herself, and her husband sent JS in, but they only sent back his, not hers, and hers has the same mistakes too. *shrugs*)
I blab too much
Anyway, so I'm thinking they send it in, 14 days to process, finally gets sent to Sydney. Till I call my husband. Apparently, it's processed!! It just needs this last paper, and then it's off to Sydney!!~ *dancetime*
*phew* And I need my Rubella shot and chicken pox, but thats easy enough *well, cept Chicken pox as it's a 6 week vaccine x.X* and well, even if they aren't required for the medical, I'd still rather have it. No problems with needles here... it's the getting nekkid part I don't like
-
You made me think about that KateandNik, and like you, whilst I dont want to get caught up in the wordplay, maybe the Horcrux was embodied within the curse itself, and not exactly the body/soul?
The Horcrux, when Voldemort attacked the Potters the first time, was created when the Killing Curse... failed? Rebounded? Whatever. Maybe it was contained within the power of Lily's sacrifice? Just throwing these ideas around.
When Voldemort attacked Harry in the last book though, since his wand was so powerful, it could destroy a Horcrux, but because of Harry's resolution that he had to die, and was willing to die because of Love (Lily's Sacrifice), it only attacked the Horcrux?
I dunno, I'm grasping at straws
There was another who could have killed Voldemort - Neville. He was born the same day/time as Harry, but Voldemort picked Harry to be the one that the prophecy foretold. It was explained in the Half-Blood Prince. It's also why I am SOOO happy he got to at least kill Nagini - however, I'm still unsure how he was able to get the Gryffindor Sword out of the hat since the goblin took it. Maybe it's a miniature 'room of requirement'?
-
Ok I have some questions... well.. I went back and read the last 3 chapters again and i thought something was missing
first off.. where's Umbridge? (spelling? ;p) I know she's not a death eater but i thought she would join LV in the battle to kill Harry, her enemy No.1?
She's at the Ministry, but thats about it. They had to steal a locket from her. It's an interesting chapter as you get to see whats going on outside of the Harry Potter 'bubble'.
Also she never mention what occupation Harry finally become as he always dream of being an Auror.. i just wondering what he's doing anyway.. and who's the head master of the school and if Hagrid still alive.Hagrid is still alive. Harry mentions to his kids to not forget his invitation once they get to school. And Neville Longbottom is the professor of herbology
there's someone missing in the last battle but now i couldnt think of who would that be right now but while i was reading i was like.. and where iss......anybody have those feeling?
I had that too, but what they spoke of McGonogal was enough to make me smile and laugh. Herding a bunch of tables and ordering them to attack... priceless
Though I wish we got to hear more about Tonks and Lupin's battles, though I understand why it wasn't (since Harry wasn't there to witness it, it's not told in the book, unlike Fred).
The thing I liked about the book was the 'humanising' of Dumbledore. One of the stereotypes I dislike is the 'wise old sage' who never gives wrong advice and is ALWAYS kind and gentle. Gandalf and Merlin for example. They never really explain that they too were young once, and had their own dreams and desires, and that those desires may not have been exactly kind and caring.
She really made Dumbledore a LOT more believable... in a book full of unbelievables

"working people have no border". LOL, are they trying to make out Illegals are like 'Doctors without Borders'?
And 'Immigrants are not criminals'. Why yes, thats true. LEGAL immigrants aren't. It's the ILLEGAL... you did go to school right?... that are by their very definition, breaking the law.
I swear, I think these people think 'Illegal' means happyfunfunftime....

Thanks
I guess, being so late now into it, I'm worried about stuffing things up x.X They'd be processing it now if my husband hadn't forgotten to send something either
(We're not sure what though x.X) Supposedly sent on the 19th, but as usual, when NVC says they sent something, and when they actually DO, are 2 separate things...
