  1. Has anyone ever had to do an I-134 Affidavit of Support instead of the I-864?

My husband recently became sick and has started a new job, and needed joint sponsorship for me. After informing NVC about this, they told him to d/l the I-134 form and fill it in. Everything I find seem to point to I-134 being for Fiancee visa, not spousal.

Anyone else heard of this happening? Or is it a special case? :help:

  2. :\

I was really worried about only having a month to get everything organised. Seeing as how I probably wont have NVC approved before August anyway*, maybe I should stop stressing about everything. Hmm... nah! XD stress stress stess

    * Whenever DS-230 decides to arrive ;_; driving me nutso....

  3. a pen.

Sounds silly, but I don't know how many times I've passed my pen around to others to fill in their customs forms...

and take a coat. Either you will be very cold, or if not, you could use it as a pillow :) and you wont look silly trying to inflate it ;P (Unless... you DO try to inflate the coat :P)

  4. Can't really help with regards to Sydney with reschedualling, however:

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=Sydney

Near the bottom of the page is a list of doctors that can perform the medical, and there are 2 in Perth. Maybe give them a ring to find out if they still do them.

I'm worried about my medical too :P check out http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry864641, and also check out the 'Land Downunder' thread :D just for all us silly Australians

  5. x.X wow thanks! It... still confuses me :P but I am reading them and it's clearing up some other things :D (only had to go back 40 pages ;p)

I think it's the vague wording in the 'official' explanations thats doing it... especially with 'originals'. *shrugs* Doesn't he send the 'original' to the NVC? Or does that mean original tax returns?

NVC don't take into account postal mistakes :P and well... taking into account weekends and all the holidays we aussies enjoy, it sure does seem like 2 weeks, though actually.. it is really only a week and a half o.O maybe I'm adding in a few days for them to get their butts into gear and working on it lol. This DS-230 sure is taking 3 weeks though..

  6. excuse me for being awfully silly :P

There's just so much information on this site that keeps crisscrossing between the different visas that I get confused.

I was under the impression, for a IR1/CR1/I-130 visa, you need the Affidavit of Support at the interview. Now, I maybe getting confused between the I-864 and the I-134, however, reading through http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html, it makes no mention about *ME* having to provide it at the interview. So is it just something that NVC sends the embassy and I don't need to worry about it?

Being as things take 2-3 weeks to be delivered, whilst it's not James's Shortcuts, any way I can cut the time down is good in my eyes, and I'm just trying to pre-empt any sidetracks. If my husband has to send me any forms, I'd like to know now, since he seems to take 2-3 weeks to get to the post office, let alone get it delivered x.X

  7. How about this. Would you prefer to sit next to a quiet 'obese' person who probably wants the ordeal over with as much as you, or sit next to the unruly 8 yr old brat who wont shut up his yugioh game, or be stuck in the back with the 20 or so teenagers going as part of a camp and will.not.shut.up about who they sucked face with the night before? for the full 13+ hours?

There are a lot of things that happens on a plane that make it more uncomfortable for me, then sitting next to a 'fatty'...

  8. Go to the Gold Coast in Australia during the winter. Best of both worlds! Nice sandy beaches AND cool weather :D *without it being bitterly cold or scorching hot!*

Thats where we had our honeymoon :D *course, doesn't really have to be the Gold Coast since we have a buttload of beaches*

and hey, Australia is kinda europe-y :P we are their convicts afterall XD

  9. How about, if you want to be comfortable, you pay for 2 seats... no matter WHAT size you are.

And at what point would you force someone to pay for 2 seats? What is 'fat enough' for you? And would there be different sizes for men and women? Because I know a lot of 'skinny' women who just happen to have big hips.

Just remember, for as uncomfortable as you are having to sit next to them, they're probably twice as uncomfortable about being there (and I'm not talking about the seat sizes)

  10. I'm not a big pizza eater, only time I do, at least on a semi-regular basis, is whenever I'm in USA.

But atm, it's either Damme Good Pies in Little Rock (I think they've branched out a little) or Larry's Pizza franchise. Come on, chocolate dessert pizza?! OH HELLS YEAH :D

  11. My recollection of that information is about a year old, so things probably have changed.

If you're really that worried, I'd delay it by a few more days, to allow for postal messups and giving them a chance to resend it *shrugs*

I'm so paranoid about it I probably wont even start to seriously consider the trip till I have it in my hot little hands *because anything can, and will, go wrong* x.X but thats me ;P

  12. I was under the impression that you're told at the interview if you pass, and that the next day, you can pick it up at the desk, or have it mailed to you.

Course, what I think happens and what actually DOES happens, tends to be 2 completly different things :P

  13. I finally got over my shyness about confronting automated voices and called the NVC hotline :P Whee, my DS-230 is on it's way!

I've already d/led it from the site and have filled out a 'Tester' version. Whilst I haven't been to too many places since I was 16, it is nice to think about it beforehand, it's a few days less spent working on it.

Dave will hopefully get his AOS in sometime next week (which should be when the 230 arrives), then he can send an e-mail regarding his condition. Whilst I doubt it'll help with expedition at this stage of the game, it certaintly can't be a bad thing either. You'd have to be pretty hard-hearted to refuse someone a greencard because their husband is sick :\ Silly thing is, he'd probably be done with chemotherapy by the time I get there x.X

Grats on the interview date Rings :D I suppose even with an interview date its hard to just not go out and buy a ticket huh? As is, I'm already checking out 1 way flight costs from LA to LR... ahh it's about time they put in CHEAP one way flights, instead of the "Oh, we're trying to rip off business flyers by having 1 way flights at DOUBLE the return cost" x.X

  14. :) thanks

Whilst I've only been talking actively for a couple of hours, I have been reading the forums for a while, and it is nice to have a site like this.

Back when we were first going through this, I had *zero* idea of what was going on, and I guess thats why we waited 7 months before phoning, because all I knew was 'that it'll take a while to come'.

NO idea about paying for anything or police reports or even an interview! Just figured they'd do all the running around, which is why it took so long, and one day they send you a card and a 'Welcome' letter :P

I complain and worry now simply because things ARE happening, and it's making me anxious. I just now have an avenue that'll listen :P My US friends all kinda go "blaghhuh?". Oh they miss me and want me there, but they're not going through the process. This is a great site with great people :) thanks

  15. Welcome Niphredil,

Wow, you've had a long journey, I hope things go more smoothly from now on!

Tell me about it. They need to get it right so people will stop dying o.o. It seems nearly everytime I go over for more then a month, something bad happens (wait, if I go permanently, that may not be good thing either o.O)

    2000 - Childers backpacker fire

    2001 - September 11th

2006 - Steve Irwin and Peter Brock o.o

And these things happened THE DAY I LEAVE. (well cept for Brocky o.o)...

and NOW my husband has Hodgkins Lymphoma, maybe the bad luck is getting in early this year :\

  16. Thanks Rings and cool beans! :) I don't feel like I'm way out in the boondocks now :P

I guess I just have the jitters now. Something is always worrying me x.X if it's not flights, then it's the medical, when it's not that, then it's wondering if I have everything, and if not that, good ol 'am I wasting time?' :P

So close, yet to far away...

  17. hehe thanks

I'm up in Queensland, in a little town right between Mackay and Rockhampton if you happen to look. I'm actually hoping that they DON'T go all interview-happy on me due to having to organise flights and hotels. I think thats what has me anxious, having to organise all of that, and the possibility that there wont be flights, or there'd be some big shindig in town (lol Sydney as a town) that I wont get a room or... rawr. :\ Dont want to go through all this and fail because of 1 small insignificant thing...

I'm a little county girl, not into the big cities :P as is, I'm moving to ARKANSAS XD

  18. Hi there :)

I'm kind of a returning visa journey-ist. As you can see from my mis-shapen journey, USCIS lost/failed/took the money and ran with our last petition, but they seem to have finally taken their head out from between their buttcheeks and actually did something :)

It's only now that I'm starting to get nervous. Before, I was so pessimistic that nothing was going to happen like last time, and now that things ARE happening, I'm caught offguard. I dont want it to take forever, and yet, I dont want to go so fast I mess it up hehe.

I've been reading about the medical exam and am happy to hear it's not the psychological thriller I'm expecting it to be (I'm NOT a doctor person, random stranger poking me in weird places, NO SIR! hehe)

So hopefully I can try and be of some help :) I suck at writing down dates, so my timeline maybe a bit... difficult :P
