  1. Hi everyone, just got back from manila.. My interview was last August 9... and i'm APPROVED!!!! woohooo!!! thanks for all the help from you guys, I remember when i was still starting this whole k1 process and i thought it was almost impossible, but hey, I got my K-APPROVED card now and I can be with my fiance soon... and that's all that really matters. Until i have the visa with me, I will finally have control of my life again and not at someone else's (USCIS, etc.) hands.:dance::dance: I WILL SOON BE FREE!!

    :luv:

  2. You will be fine, Don't worry about it.

I have had the advantage of meeting many Consular Officers during my lengthy US Government employment, overseas. I have learned some inside information, which I will share with you.

Consular Officer's have a primary mission, among other things, validating Visa petitions. They are people, with subjective opinions, like anyone else.

You know your SO, you know his/her life history and you know the detail of your meeting and continued relationship. That is the crux of the questions, period.

Point of clarification: Everyone on this site says "Consulate". That is misleading information.

    Capital City = Embassy

    Other Major City= Consulate

"Consular section" = The department within an Embassy or Consulate, that deals with Visa issues.

Having been to over 60 countries myself, this is factual information, not speculation.

Anyway, Best wishes for a quick reunion with your SO.

Thanks! yes you are right. I shouldnt worry too much because i know my relationship with my fiance more than anyone else, and it is genuine. I guess it's more of the fear of the unknown i am feeling right now. At least you've pointed out to me and reminded me that, yes, they are just people no more no less :) It's nice that you've already been to over 60 countries, many (such as I am) dream to travel around the world but never had the opportunity...................... YET;) Since I am still young, it's not too late to fulfill it. As what they always say, "if you don't have a dream, you will never have a dream come true" have a nice day! :)

  3. djcess - I can't tell you hold long the interview is but I did find this Manila Visa Interview Testimony helpful.

I appreciate the link.. very informative

my fiance and i visited the embassy last june just to get an 129f app and for her too see what it looks like inside, its very busy and crowded, we observed both the happiness of approvals and the tears of denial right there in the corridor, but i tell you this as i tell nenita; be strong and believe in our love and devotion for each other, the person interviewing you is just doing there job, they know its important to you, they see many women each day for the same reason just stay focused and be prepared and you will do fine, say a little prayer and put a good luck piece in you pocket.best wishes and good luck to you both.

Thanks.. your advice is very powerful. "be strong and believe in our love and devotion for each other" this touched me a lot because my nervousness and emotions are clouding on me, it is almost difficult to remember the basic thing that kept us going through this rough distance, and until now we're still in this race. Thank you very much! I will surely remember that. (F)

You will do fine. If you know your fiance(e) real well you will not have any problem answering the questions.

Just relax and keep your answer short and simple. Do not go into a long explaination unless you have to in order to clarify your answer. Also do not offer up anything you are not asked.

I will be praying for both of you.

STAY POSITIVE AND GOOD LUCK

Thanks! i had to highlight that one since it applies to me hehe.. I'm the type of person who talks hundred words ped minute and really fast especially when i'm nervous. I will carry that one with me! ;)

  4. Just relax and avoid to be tense .... interview takes 5 mins from the window area for showing original documents. And 10-15 mins interview with the officer cubicle.... well that happened to me in Phils. attended our interview for K1/K2 with my husband now. :) we went there 630am and went out 830am, it takes more time in falling inline to go inside from the guard till the waiting to show ur assigned number.

you gonna be alright! cheer up! goodluck!

Thanks rebelheart! Someone told me that we should be in business attire? please correct me if I'm wrong. I hope we can at least just wear semi-formal.

  5. BEFORE MY INTERVIEW! I feel sick, I can't sleep and i know i'm panicking too much! A lump showed up behind my ear and side of my neck.. my doctor said I'll have to stop the stress or the lump will get bigger and we'll have to have it operated.. :crying: I'm taking antibiotics right now. I just can't help it..this feels like judgement day and I know that I can't mess this up. I'm waiting for this day for sooo long I got to pass this.

Does anyone know how long an interview takes?

  6. ok, i'll just do it one step at a time. I need to go to the states asap when i (hopefully) receive the visa since it has been 1 year and 8 months we're apart now. We've agreed before he left for the states that he puts all his time in his work and be stable so we could be with each other sooner. i can't have him visit me because his vacation leave is still very short. So, help us God! By the way, my interview is 4 days from now. Eeecks! I am sooo nervous!!!

  7. Getting qualified for the I-129F is one thing. When you go through AOS don't you have to show more income verification? and 3 years tax returns? what are the standards then?

I'm not 100% sure ... @ the start of all this ( before finding VJ ) we did in fact have the standards for AOS and I-129F confused  If i'm not mistaken they do require 3 years tax returns for AOS but the exact income standards for those 3 years i have no idea ... My Fiancee has met the poverty guidelines for a family our size for many years .. so we decided not to worry about the details. Some consulates require you to show 3 years of tax returns even for the K1 .. (Vancouver canada requires 3 years worth from my Fiancee) But i'm under the impression it's just to get a better idea of his history

what if we dont have that? do they send me back to my country?

  8. Thanks!:) My fiance has only worked for 1 year and 2 months in his job, is that stable enough for them?

Hmm.. that's the problem. You see, my fiance lived here in the Philippines to study since nursery. He just left for the states last year after college. He went there to provide us a better future. His present job is his 2nd job, and he's doing good. He was promoted to manager in just 6 months and his boss always tell him how valuable he is for him and his company. Is my situation a problem when I adjust status?:(

  9. Hi everyone! if my fiance earns $37k a year and his ITR for 2005 only showed $24k (since he started working on his present job last june 2005) Will that be a problem? Considering we dont have other assets? :( we have the employer's letter, bank letter, bank statements and w2. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

    P.S:

We don't have anyone to co-sponsor us.

  10. hey john i have to thank you for starting this thread and for the advice:) now i have some advice for you. go take some viagra to keep up with the wife that looks half your age.

Ok, now this is getting out of hand. There's no need for insults.

    N- NOT FUNNY AT ALL
