  1. HeavensAngel, ShaMarshie, even though the CO may have told you 1 month at your interview, AP can last much longer. The CO told my husband 2 weeks and his AP lasted 3 1/2 months. Once your case goes to AP they can take as long as they want to issue the visa. It can be days, weeks, months or even years. I hope and pray that your AP comes to an end very very soon, but please understand that you could have a long road ahead. My advice is to wait at least 60 working days before you contact them. Because before the 60 days if you contact them they will give u the typical response, that your case is in AP contact them after 60 days.

  2. Heavensangel, it's not guaranteed that they will respond to you within 5 working days. They may give you a time frame, but they usually don't follow it. It would be best if you just email them and wait for the response. I generally waited a week for a response, and if I didn't get one after 1 week I would email them again.

How long have you been in AP?

My husband was in AP for 3 1/2 months. His was a fairly quick AP. During that time, his case updated 17 times.

Just send all the documents they requested ASAP. You will see case updates once they start working on your case.

  3. Because your case was put in AP your status will now say "Administrative Processing" until the embassy is ready to issue the visa. For people that are approved during interview, there case usually goes to AP for a few hours or maybe 1 day and then their status will change once the visa is printed & issued. Everytime the embassy looks at your file your you CEAC "Status Updated Dated" will change. You want to make sure you are watching this date regularly as this will help you to know how often they are looking at your case.

  4. it seems that the CO's saw something on your file which caused you to be put into AP. Honestly, it doesn't really matter if you saw "approved" on your file. The CO's word is the final word. Now you just have to wait. You should never make any type of marriage or travel plans until you have visa in hand because you never know what will happen. Even though they tell you 1 month, it could last longer. They told my husband 2 weeks and he was in Ap for 3 1/2 months. Our AP was fairly short. AP can last anywhere from days, weeks, months or even years. I know this doesn't put your mind at ease, but just be patient and Inshallah your visa will be issued soon. Did they keep you passport? Usually that is a good sign.

  5. Thank you. It still says Ready - since Sept 3rd and one update Sept 10th. We sent our fifth email last night, but I'm thinking this will go unanswered too. The embassy won't take visa questions over the phone, but it sure would help if they did!

    Hopefully...

Which embassy do you email? KBL or ISL? Maybe you should try emailing the one you are not already emailing. Maybe they can provide you with more info

  6. This means your passport is still with embassy. Is your visa issued? If it is what it says? Printed?

No, my husbands visa is not issued yet. it still says Administrative Processing. I was only asking because up until now everytime I checked the status of the passport it always said " no status available for the passport number submitted" and now it has changed to "your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate" and "Delievered to Post"

  7. Hello all, sorry I have been away from the forum for a while.

First I want to say CONGRATS to Amhara for getting to the READY! Has the visa been issued yet?

Latest update on my end is that I received an email from the Embassy and they said that I need to submit a joint sponsor AOS. I don't understand why I need a joint sponsor as I make more than enough money to support my husband according to the poverty guidelines. I sent them an email in regards to this but have not received any response.

They also asked for proof/evidence asking why my husband came in contact with law enforcement officials in the US in 2012. My husband explained to CO at his interview that he has never been to the US before nor has he ever applied to come to the US before. They took a sworn statement from him verbally at the interview from him but are now still asking for more proof. We sent another documented sworn statement in regards to this as we have no other proof other than his passports which we submitted to them already.

I hope that this will do the trick!
