Hi everyone!
This website helped me a lot when I filed the CR1 visa.
Now, it´s time for me to remove my conditional residence and I need your help because we are working on my file.
My question is about the Form I751:
My conditional Green Card was issued with my maiden name (in my country we have 2 names and 2 last names, however, my GC has my first name + the first initial of my second name and my 2 last names).
It has caused me many issues because being an "international name" when I wanted to fill forms in some websites, their systems are not prepared for accepting many names and what I want to do it´s to change my 2 last names for my husband´s last name.
Can I use the i-751 to change my last name?...Then... How do I fill the blank?
In the 1st part, I write my 2 names + his last name and in the part "Other Names Used" I write my current name (as it comes up in my current GC?)
If anybody can help me out, I´m going to appreciate it so much !!!

Hi Marrienne ! When I read your post, it was like reading about my background (degree, working experience, training, etc...) And really understand you...
Let me share my experience with you:
I'm living in the south of California 7 months ago and I waited 2 months to receive my SS Card...well, after that, I started to apply for different jobs.
First, I looked for something similar to my previous job (I was an executive of commercial banking in one of the largest banks in my country)... I didn't have good luck, as you, I couldn't get interviews, only emails saying another candidates have the profile they need.
Then, I changed my mind and I looked for administrative assistant position...I got some phones interviews but at the end, the same story: "thanks but no thanks".
The truth is that I have applied to more than 120 jobs in 5 months. Yes, more than 120...and after changing my resume 4 times, after creating like 50 cover letters, aftee reading a lot about the labour market here and watching videos on YouTube about tips for the job search, I decided to apply for different jobs like retail positions. I could get many interviews ...but again, I wasn't chosen.
I got depressed, frustrated, sad, for months I couldn't sleep more than 3 hours at night, also I thought about going back to my country, with my husband we talked about divorce... believe me, these months have been very difficult for us. I have a debt in my country and I need to send money there to pay it and my husband had 2 jobs, now he has 3 jobs because of the expenses at home plus he's paying child support because since I got here, the mother of his son doesn't want him to share with him (and she doesn't want me sharing time with him), and now he's paying her $ 800/month for his son. You see why we need him working 3 jobs and he is sleeping only 4 hours Monday-Friday...
We don't have babies and we can't have, because we're not able to pay our baby's future expenses.
After crying so much every day and every night, I decided to open my mind and to follow an advice I found on YouTube: you must accept the "small" job to get the "big" job later.
One month ago, I got a temporary job that it's helping me to get some money, also I got an on call position and last week I got a part time job.
The positions are not what I want of course, nothing administrative, but these are my first steps to get the job I want.
Also, I'm being a volunteer in a non profit organization, it helps me to know people, to get references from here that are important and to be far from home because I was getting emotionally sick.
Also, I started the College to improve my English and to be more confident when I interact with people from here. I know that my English is not perfect but I'm working on that.
If you want some advice or to share with somebody and if you have more tips about how I could get my jobs, I will be very happy to help you, just write me a message to the private.
I wish you the best !!!!

Hi !
I live in SoCal, I got the GC in March and SSN on April and also I am suffering every day looking for jobs. I have a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and more 17 years working on commercial banking and customer service but I haven't had good luck yet.
The last 2 months I'm applying for for jobs EVERYDAY but I don't get anything.
I've got some interviews but that's all, and I feel so bad...Sometimes I wonder if coming was the best decision (I had a very good job in my country and stability, now I feel stressed without money, my husband is working 2 jobs and I am so frustrated about our situation).
I don't know what else I can do...
Mineira, I suggest you continue being honest, I feel your sexual option won't be a problem here in CA.
Wish you good luck on this long way !

SSN should not be required to be added to health insurance and as a general rule many persons have been added to insurance without disclosing or having one. It's not their business to know.
Oh thanks for the info...we didn't know!
When we went to the doctor appointment they asked us about my SSN...
-
Well, days are passing and without the SSN I can't do anything here...
Imagine that I got sick and I am not included on my husband's health insurance yet, so everything was a mess ... private appointment, medicines ...oh my! I was so stressed!
I will go back to the SD Administration Office this Wednesday...I hope to get it that day !
-
I suggest you to get credentials to valid her studies here in USA. Because her degree will be nothing here if you don't make this paperwork first.
Look in Google what are the offices close to you to fill the forms (you can do it online too) and pay for it.
I did it and I am waiting my credentials, I went to AERC in the city of Covina, CA (they take 2 - 3 weeks).
Good luck !
-
Well, we went to the SS Administration Office and they told me I need to wait 30 days since my arrival to US, to get personally the SS card.
Our case was CR1 visa.
I hope you have better luck than me ... I need to wait 12 more days ummmm. ..
-
Hi !
I arrived to US on Feb 8 and still waiting for my SSN and Green Card as well.
We will go tomorrow to the nearest SS Office to see if I can get the SSN asap, I need it to apply for jobs and to start my own credit ... ?
So you both can try going to the SS Office to ask... you don't lose anything!
-
Oh great, thanks all !
I´ve heard about the secure credit card as well but I dont know the meaning of NPR´s and LPR´s .....please help !
-
Hi VJers !
My question is, being in USA, what´s the first step to create my own credit score?
Somebody that can give me some options please?
In my country I worked on a large bank, and I know how to take care of my finances, my credit in my country is excellent, so I need to do the same in the US.
Also I want to apply for my own car in few months...
Thanks a lot !

And I want to thank to all the people who helped me here. I could not have done it without you !!!!
I pray for all of you that are still waiting their CC, interviews, approvals and to have the visa in hand !
This is a matter of time and patience. Don´t lose hope.

Hi VJers !
Just to tell you that today a miracle happened, and my visa is ISSUED !!!
Thank God, we can continue with our plans now.
So don´t lose hope, try to write or call to the Embassy or Consulate of your countries to ask about your cases.
I did it on Dec 17 and I received an answer the 30th..... and finally my visa is done today !
Good luck to everybody who is still waiting in AP.
Blessings

Hi PriyaB!
I'm not sure if I sent you this link already. just some info I found about AP.
Thanks for the link...
I have read it and it´s very useful
My heart is broken...it´s a horrible situation to be on AP
Our visa was approved Nov 25 but I took my passport with me because of our 1st wedding anniversary (we went to an island in Mexico)...
I sent my passport to the embassy through DHL as soon as I came back to my country, and we are still on AP.
I have written to the Embassy but they don´t reply... I have called them and nothing...
We don´t know what else to do........
-
Hi VJers !!!
Please I need your advice...I´m getting desperate
My interview was November 25, I got the approval but I couldn´t leave the passport because next week (December 3) I went to Cancun where I met my husband for our 1st wedding anniversary trip.
The official who attented the interview understood the situation and told me that when I come back to my country, I can send my passport to the Embassy through DHL.
I did it, and Dec 9 I went to DHL to send my passport. Embassy received it the 10th.
Since that moment I go daily to CEAC and my case is in Administrative Processing and they are updating our case every day but we don´t get the "ISSUED"
I have written them twice and I don´t get any reply...
What can I do?
Please some advice will be very veeeery appreciated !!!!

OMG! OMG! I'm so happy right now!!! I didn't think it would be possible, but guess I got really lucky!!!
Yesterday, I sent an email to the embassy, requesting a reschedule of my interview to an earlier date! I just told them that this distance between my husband and I has been taking its toll on us and that I really miss him. Also, that I'm eager to start a normal life, as husband and wife!
They called me today!!! They re-scheduled my interview for the 28th of December!!! The lady was so nice She asked me why I want to do my interview earlier, do I have already my flight tickets or something? And I told her it's not that, i wouldn't risk paying thousands of euros before having my visa in hand. The only reason is that I really miss my husband and I want to be with him as soon as possible. And she giggled and told me okay, we'll reschedule you for December 28th, at 1 PM.
I'm so happy!!! I can't wait for hubby to wake up so I can give him the news! (He doesn't know about the email that I sent).
That´s awesome !
Congrats !

Hi VjersI´m copying my experience here in this topic too to share with you that my interview was today 25th at 11am in USA Embassy in Lima - Peru. And finally: APPROVED !!!!!!First I want to thank God for this huge blessing !!!And also thanks to all of you, that could help me with my questions, thanks dwheels because you suggested me to ask about the support with my passport and they are going to help me: I only need to go to DHL after my trip to Cozumel Island, then I can leave my passport in DHL office and Embassy will send it to DHL again including the visa.Just for your information, these were the questions:- Do you speak English? - I said yes (but my interview was in Spanish)- My complete name- Where and when did you meet your husband?- What happened after you met him in that app? - She refers about when we met personally and also I talked about my B1/B2 visa, so she asked for my old passport.- What do you like the most from your husband? - In this part, I got emotional talking about him, I was thinking about his face and the way he is with me and awww he´s my sunshine !- Why did you start the paperwork on March if you got married on December ? - I explained because of the wedding we did not have the money to send the papers before.- Also she said: Dont you see him since the wedding? - I said no, because I went to USA for his birthday in October, so I don´t see him since last month. She took my old passport and with my B1/B2 Visa...and she has cancelled my tourism visa with a big stamp. Then she said: your visa is approved, you can get your passport in 5 - 10 days (because it´s Thanksgiving tomorrow + Black Friday, so I´m losing like 4 days this week)Oh myyyy... such a wonderful moment !!!!!!In that moment I asked her a support, because we will have our honeymoon next week (it´s our 1st wedding anniversary) and I need my passport to go to Mexico, so she asked when I will go back and gave me the option to send my passport through DHL and they will receive it, stamped it and send it back by DHL.That was all... many questions but I answered them with a honest heart and I´m sure she realized it.I wish you all good luck on this process.... It took 9 months for us, but finally is done !Thanks Visa Journey !This is a great forum, I´m not going to forget you people !!!
