  1. Yea it does put a strain on me.

But hey, women do whatever they can for their loved ones, right?

But that makes sense, because it would be confusing.

I am not disabled enough to not work, so that would not be a valid reason.

He is on Linkedin (an electronics engineer) so maybe I can suggest to him to use it more to look for jobs.

I was just exploring my options for other visas just in case while waiting for the IR/CR1.

    Thanks!

  2. Does your husband have a job waiting for him in the U.S? If not, how does that help your expedite? Since I assume he may face an indeterminate amount of time unemployed.

    Good luck

See that's one of the things I am slightly confused about as I have been searching for jobs for him.

Should I be submitting an application for him online?

    Should he be submitting applications?

How does that work if he is not able to have an in person interview?

Does he have to have the job first before applying for the work visa?

    How does that work?

Thank you all for the suggestions!

    It has been very helpful!

  3. So I was recently informed by someone who hasn't exactly been through the IR/CR1 visa process, so I just wanted to verify if it is possible to contact the USCIS or Embassy (American or Gambian/Senegal) to inform them that I have medical needs

(Cancer survivor, vision impairment, hearing impairment) and that I am waiting on my husband to be here in the states because I need him to work and take care of me in order to possibly expedite the visa process?

I am aware of the possibility of needing a doctor's letter, but what else?

    Thanks.

  4. The only time I plan to visit is for his interview...whenever that is which is most likely around September. We are not in the financial state to have regular visits with each other halfway across the world as much as we'd like that. I am leaning towards having a super long Skype call and showing love virtually. Thank you for all the tips!

  5. Hi,

So I am coming up on my one year anniversary. I have not seen my Gambian husband since not long after we got married in Gambia in July. The docs are still in the waiting process at the Nebraska Service Center.

For those who had to spend their very first marriage anniversary apart, how did you do it? What did you do?

    Any ideas are welcomed.

    Thank you,

    Z

  6. Greetings All,

    Just recently joining.

I've been snooping around on this site for a while now and frequently visiting the example forms and FAQs and doing research as I have been preparing the K-3 Visa for my Gambian husband, Bunja.

Finally decided to join as a member, while I wait for the process and the notifications and so I can post my case timeline-I like that the most about this site.

I am also joining for the support, as I know it is much needed. This is my first time filing. I have a few friends who have gone through the same process so, thankfully they have been helpful throughout. But, so it begins.

We met in The Gambia this past summer (2014), although we connected on Facebook three months prior. Communicated every day, Skyped every week, and I stayed with him spending every day with him and his family during my 30 day stay in his home country. My original plans were to visit and photograph in his home country (I am a photographer), what also happens to be the same home country/neighborhood of my friend's husband (my friend met her husband while volunteering in The Gambia the same year I was volunteering in Ghana; through the same organization is how we met). Originally I communicated with them in regards to his family being my host family, but then realizing that he and my husband to be at the time, were close friends, it all connected either way. So in a way we met through mutual friends. We got engaged (June 27, 2014) and married (July 16, 2014) while I was in The Gambia and now, having been away from each other for months now, begins the wait process. The prices for everything are ridiculous...but anywho, looking forward to connecting with you all!
