  1. I noticed quite a few people here received letters saying USCIS would reuse their biometrics. I received that letter too. One step closer to the end!

@noz Are you at CSC or TSC? I also mailed my paperwork on the same day and it delivered on the same day as you. But my money order has not yet been cashed... If it doesn't get cashed tomorrow, I have a long weekend ahead (Veteran's day is on Monday)....

    I'm at CSC.

I know how it feels, I was looking at other people's timelines and seeing their checks were cashed 5 days after delivery while mine wasn't hadn't been cashed and wondering why (even if I knew it didn't mean anything and I just had to wait).

As often with USCIS, all I had to do was wait. I'm sure yours will be cashed soon :)

Of course now I'm wondering how long until I get my extension letter. I see that some people at CSC have been waiting for 3 weeks after their text notificatons and still haven't received it. My green card expires in 11 days so I'm a bit nervous.

  4. I can only speak about my experience, which was different because the countries involved were not the same.

I am French and my interview at the US embassy in Paris. I lived for one year in Indonesia so in theory I would have to submit a police certificate for Indonesia. However when I checked travel.state.gov regarding police certificates I read this:

Unavailable for applicants inside and outside Indonesia. Indonesian police certificates require initial processing at a local or village level, which is nonstandard in nature, can be subject to capricious decisions by officials and may require nonofficial payments to proceed further.

So I did not bring it with me to the Interview. The day of the interview, the first person I talked to, who took all the documents from me asked me for a police certificate for Indonesia (she Indonesia listed as a country I lived in the past 5 years). I explained that I had read that it was not required. She seemed unconvinced but didn't argue much.

Then I talked to the interviewer and she didn't even mention it. I was approved on the spot.

So in my case it was not an issue. I believe it will be fine for you too. travel.state.gov does have the right information and states the rules Interviewing Officers have to follow. You might want to bring a print out of the page stating that you do not need it in case they don't know.

    Good luck!

  6. Hi guys,

I had my interview this past Monday. It was fairly painless and overall went pretty well.

The only problem is that I had my K-1 interview just under a year ago, on November 4 2015 but my medical was on October 27 2015. AOS interview was on October 31 2016 so it's been just over a year and the IO said I may need a new medical done. She said her supervisor will make the decision.

What I didn't expect was that she said my DS-3025 wasn't complete because the doctor who filled it in my home country didn't check the box "US vaccination requirements complete". I remember a thread here on VJ about wether you need a new medical for AOS or not. It said that some doctors will check the box and others won't but that usually the IO will see that the vaccinations are complete not worry about it.

She literally said "It's not marked as complete, although I see you have all the required vaccinations. I think you'll need a new form anyway, regardless of the fact your original medical expired".

Today I got a RFE in the mail asking for form I-693. It seems that's it's only asking for the vaccination record part of the form, but I wonder if I should have the whole medical again or not.

    Here is what it says:

"The Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that you submitted is incomplete. We need additional medical information to complete your case. The civil surgeon must complete the Vaccination Record on the Form I-693 and it must have original signatures."

It's funny they say that because I didn't submit Form I-693 in the first place so it can hardly be incomplete.

Anyway, do you think it's safe to just have vaccination record section filled out and send that back? Or should I do the complete medical examination?

    Thanks for your help.

  7. Hi guys,

I finally had my interview this past Monday!

The interviewing officer was really nice, she asked me a few questions like how many times I entered the US and what types of visa I used to enter.

Then she asked me all the questions on the I-485 form, I had answered yes to "Have you ever been arrested, or [....] or fined?", so she asked me to explain. I was happy to see that she had clearly read the attachment I provided with the I-485 to explain why I answered yes. She said it shouldn't be a problem, but she'll have to ask her supervisor.

We showed her our joint bank account and credit card as well as joint health insurance.

The only problem is that I had my K-1 interview a year ago, on November 4 2015 but my medical was on October 27 2015. AOS interview was on October 31 2016 so it's been over a year (barely...) and I may need a new medical done. She said her supervisor will make the decision.

What I didn't expect was that she said my DS-3025 wasn't complete because the doctor who filled in my home country didn't check the box "US vaccination requirements complete". Today I got a RFE in the mail asking for form I-693. It seems that's it's only asking for the vaccination record part of the form, but I wonder if I should have the whole medical again or not. I'll make a new thread for this.

I see most people who are still waiting are having their interviews scheduled now, that's great news :)

  8. Anyone here with San Francisco office? They seem to be taking their sweet time... :(

    Yes they are...

I looked at the AOS statistics for San Francisco office yesterday (here on VJ) and saw that someone has an interview scheduled for the end of September. That person filed for AOS in December 2015.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?cfl=0&op1=6&op2=d&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,9,10,11&op8=San%20Francisco%20CA&xfr=&vtype=1&interview=

So we have plenty of time left to wait!

  9. If you entered as a K-1, you still need to have a vaccination supplement completed by a civil surgeon in the U.S. This would be Page 9 of Form I-693 only, to be submitted in a sealed envelope with your adjustment of status application.

That's not quite true. It depends on how your DS-3025 was filled. See the thread below for details:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

  10. My understanding is that you have to have a USCIS-approved doctor have a look at your vaccination record and fill in either the DS-3025 (before the K-1 interview) or the I-693 (before submitting AOS). Immigration officers are not supposed to know the equivalent US vaccines for the ones you had in your home country.

I know the names of the vaccines are different in France than they are in the US. A regular US doctor won't know what vaccines I've had by looking at my French record (that's what the doctor told me at my K-1 medical).

I would go see a civil surgeon here before submitting my AOS if I were you.

So to sum up I would say:

    1) No.

    2) Yes.

    3) Unsure about that one. They might just ask you to bring the I-693 at the interview. I would guess it might not delay EAD/AP since they're different applications. Just a guess though.

  11. Actually I did try to call USCIS and I heard the recorded message saying "Please allow us 30 days to send your card". I waited to get someone on the line and then she told me actually wait 60 days!

I had a look at the link provided above, it seems like I'm not the only one who has been told to wait 60 days.

This process is slow but so much better than waiting for the K1. At least I'm here with my wife now :)

  12. My EAD status has been stuck on "New card is being produced" since May 14. I just called USCIS and was told that even though the instructions for EAD say you should wait for 30 days after "card is being produced" to enquire about your case, USCIS now tells applicants to wait 60 days.

I did receive my approval notice for AP on May 24.

So it's been 19 days since my card is being produced and I should wait another 41 days to even be allowed to enquire about my case?! That's 115 days from submitting the petition! Quite a bit longer than 90 days...

    Has anyone had similar experience?

  13. I had a similar issue for my interview. Every week that date would change, but there would only be one date available.

France now has this strange process where the embassy sends you a letter with a date for your interview, yet you still have to go online to register and pay the fee.

I was worried because the date chosen by the embassy for my interview was greyed out and the only date available was a week before my interview was supposed to happen. I emailed them and they told me they use this only to collect the fees and get the address to send the passport to. I logged in the following week and this time I could select the right date.

Not sure how Taiwan works though. But you can try checking next week. Or email the embassy, that's what I did. They were very helpful.
