  1. What it means is that she is on the hook for the next 10 years to support you financially so long as you stay in the USA. The contract ends when you decide to become a US Citizen, you die, or her co-sponsor dies (if she had a co-sponsor sign).

Sorry- this is not exactly true.

The contract is between the sponsor and the US Govt.

All it means is that if you claim and receive any kind of public benefits/monies ( medicaid, welfare...etc) then the sponsor is liable to pay the govt back the money you got from the Govt.

The Govt can claim from the sponsor, but as far as I know- that doesn't happen to often.

If he doesn't mention them on VJ, then everyone needs to leave him alone about it. There's a line here that I don't wish to see crossed again. Researching another posters personal life outside VJ and then revealing your findings on VJ should not be an acceptable practice. Message boards are fun and games and when one person crosses that line, others will too and there's nothing more toxic to a message board than that. So if Gary doesn't want to talk about something, please leave it be. This is a request to everyone involved.

I agree 100% . However you and I both know it's NOT ME ' researching and revealing' personal stuff.

  3. They're here and they brought a 'Carl's Jr' with them....and a place called 'Five Guys and a Burger' or something.

The property market is still moving rapidly and loads of new houses and subdivisions are being built. Job market has been steady , Mark's ( my husband) company has expanded, opened a 2nd office in Houston & hired quite afew new employees over the past 2 years.

    YAY Texas :D

..but it IS hotter than all heck in Summer :/

  4. ..., as has western Europe!

    I disagree.

IMO having lived in England- it's what I would call a socialist democracy over there. Govt in on everything, sky high taxes, entitlement reliance...list goes on and on. Not that it's a bad place, but nothing much like the US...but the US is getting close!

edit- and I wouldn't call anything about that 'healthy'.

  5. If you want to truly help, then keep your nose out of it. If this girl's father cannot convince her to forget about the guy, who do you think you are to change her mind? Putting your nose in another person's business is giving a bad name to kanos coming to the area. You're acting like they are too stupid and naive to handle their own affairs and need being saved by the big great white man. Her father knows he's trouble, and no doubt everyone else does to. You really need to stop portraying the village as being these helpless tribal natives who don't know what they're doing. You're just setting yourself up for an eventual big fall if you keep it up. They know thousands of times better what works there than you do with your few weeks of vacation time in the country.
