  1. Is there way to check the status of my petition on the NVC website? I know the petition's at the NVC, I called on May 19th and got the case number. Do they have a status update web page like the the service centers have? Or is it all by telephone?

No... Since K-1 visas have a short stop at NVC, it doesn't enter in the automated system and you can't check the status in their web page!

The only way to get information is by e-mailing them or calling! I emailed them last Tuesday and they answered me today, saying my petition was already sent to Rio de Janeiro!

    Good luck!

  2. Hi.

My interview was scheduled to June 6th, but on My 17th I got a call from the Consulate in Rio saying USCIS recalled all pending aplications due to a new request.

After researching and calling the whole world I found out that this was a worldwide thing.

Anyways, anyone else in Brazil had the same problem?

I was told we are 20 cases in Brazil.

    Let´s exchange informations.

    Hello!

As far as I'm concerned, that's not true that ALL pending petitions were recalled! I know about some cases that are being processed normally there...

I guess the major problem is in relation to Vermont SC.. Because most of these petitons were applied after March 6th, when the IMBRA law started to be applied... So, they didn't have avaiable time to do the necessary background checks required to this new law in these Vermont cases... That's why they had to take them back!

But as I've been noticing, all the other petitions were delayed a little bit because of this! I hope everything to be okay for all of us as soon as possible!

    Hugs!

  3. Well... We're in the same situation, then! And for us to know where our papers are we can do two things: call NVC and talk to an operator to find out when they sent our papers to the Consulate or call the consulate to find out if they already have our papers... Anyway, it's necessary to have patience because you may need to wait for about 40 minutes to talk to someone, either in NVC or in the Consulate!

I've been pretty upset these days, because Chris doesn't want to call NVC! He says I'm being impatient!

I e-mailed NVC and Rio Consulate twice more than one week ago and didn't get any reply so far.. Can't call Rio because the call would be too expansive for me to afford! I don't know what to think anymore... If anyone knows something, please tell me! I'm pretty frustrated with all of this!:(

  4. Hi all

I just received a notice from NVC, comfirming my petition will be forwarded to the embassy. Is this mean that they already sent to the Consulate? or will be sent to the embassy soon? Any advice on this?

    Bill

    Congratulations!!

Well, I don't know if they have actually fowarded my papers to the consulate already, but it's just because Chris doesn't want to call NVC to see if they have already sent the papers and because my consulate does not answer to my e-mails and it takes too long to be able to talk to an operator there... It's a 40 minute long-distance call (on avarage)... Too expansive for me to afford! So, I just need to be patient and wait for someone to answer my e-mail in Rio de Janeiro! It sucks, though...

I suggest you to call NVC in the middle of the next week to check if they have already sent your petition... Try to call early in the morning or next to midnight (NVC time)... It's easier to talk to a live operator in these periods!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. I have never tried to call the Consulate so I am not sure what the normal wait time is.

I have been e-mailing the Consulate over the past 8 weeks (the last time was 10 days ago) and they have answered in as short as 2 hours and as long as 8 days (which happens to be the last time I wrote). Did you receive their auto response saying they will respond in 7-10 days?

Hopefully this helps a little. They should get back to you in the next few days.

Yes, I received the auto-reply only for the second e-mail I sent and they said they would respond this within ten business days... Damn! It's too long!

    Thanks anyway, dear!

    Hi.

They usually make you wait for about 30 minutes before talking to you.

It´s always like that. I know because I have been calling them in a daily basis.

I doubt that they are not answering your email because of the IMBRA delay.

This has nothing to do with them since the only thing they did was send the petitions back and inform us.

They are usually pretty nice at the phone and if you wait for 30 minutes will have your issue solved.

Please, also if anyone has news on this recalled petitions send me a message.

I had my interview cancelled and I´m totally holpless.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this... :(

I hope they can take the necessary procedures ASAP and you have your interview scheduled soon.

Could you please update your timeline for us to know how your process is being done?

    Thank you!

  6. Hiya, guys!

I'm getting frustrated... I tried to talk to a person in Rio de Janeiro Consulate and it's taking too long for them to answer... I couldn't wait more than 30 minutes in line, because the call would be too expansive!

Anyway, I tried to contact them by e-mail to check if they already have my case... I e-mailed them twice: last friday and this tuesday and got any response so far...

Is it because of this IMBRA thing that they are getting crowded with petitions and don't have time to answer the e-mails and people enough to answer the phone calls?

Have any of you tried to contact them lately? I'm getting desparate already... :crying:

  7. Ah, I forgot to say that they didn't answer to any of the 4 e-mails that I sent them before receiving their letter... :(

Anyway, I think that you should start calling and/or e-mailing them about 2 weeks after the approval... But try to do it around 7:00 am or late in the night because, since the K-1 petitions doesn't enter in their automated system, you will need to talk to an operator to get right informations about your case!

As I could see in the timelines, the waiting time between the NOA 2 and the package 3 at home uses to be 1 month and half...

    Hope it helped! ;)

  8. Pretty much meaningless for a K1 visa, as they do almost no "value added" processing. They receive it from the USCIS Center, and put Dept of State control numbers and case numbers into the system. They send you a letter telling you that tthey have it and will be sent shorly to the US Consulate involved. Usually by the time you receive the letter, it has already left. Wont spend more than a week there, and no need to even get involved with them.

    Ditto! :)

  9. I see posts and timelines with NVC receipt/send dates.

How do you get notified of these actions?

Does the petitioner USC get notified when the info gets to the foreign Embassy?

    Thanks for replies.

    Larry

NVC seems "weird" to deal with this communication thing! My USC fiance got a letter from NVC in the mail two weeks and half after the approval with the case number assigned, and saying they were fowarding the petition to my Consulate! But I see a lot of people that doesn't receive any kind of communication between the NOA 2 and packet 3... That's confusing...

  10. Ahhh, dear.... If after talking to him he doesn't take any attitude in order not to make you upset, tell him to stay with his ex, then! And ask him to do what he wants with his f¨%#@kin reputation!

It seems really obvious that he's using this reputation thing as an excuse not to take the decent attitude of telling her he doesn't want her to sit in his desk or to call his cell phone at evenings with no serious professional reason! I'm not telling that he has a "case" with her... But yes, it's evident that he likes her attention!

Well, if I were you, I would never accept this! I think it's moment for you to make him decide... If he doesn't stop being idiot and doesn't attend your request, quick his butt and move on with your life... It wouldn't worth it to stay with a man that doesn't respect you!

    Do love yourself!

    (((hugs))) :luv:

  11. Thanks Priscila!

I did received a letter from NVC stating they were forwarding our papers to the consulate in Rio, but it took so long to get here that I had called NVC prior to the letter. I gave them my USCIS case number and they told me the date they had been sent. I hope this next part goes quick :star:

Humm... Didn't understand it yet... So, you received a letter with your new case number and saying they would send your papers to NVC in one week, like mine? Why did you provide USCIS case number instead of the new RDJ number to know when they sent your papers to Rio?

  12. Hi Everyone!

I received my NOA2 on April 11 and now I am waiting on the packet 3 to be sent to the consulate in Rio to my Fiance Lucas. I was wondering if anyone here knows about the interview process there? Also when they say "pass the medical" what do they mean? What are they testing and need to know?

    Thanks Jenna

"pass the medical" means that the beneficiary has no health problems concerning to what's required by the immigration doctor and that has all the vaccines updated!

I am in the same situation as you, so I don't know exactly how the interview is in Rio de Janeiro! But I've been hearing that it's quite simple and that they don't use to do so many questions! "Carol and Marc" have detailed Carol's interview experience... But I do not know the link... CAROOOOL!! rsrs

Anyway, how did you get to know when NVC sent off his papers to Rio?! Did you receive a letter?

Chris received a letter by them with the case number and saying they would be fowarding the papers to Rio in one week or so, but I haven't heard anything else about the date when they sent the papers to Rio....

  13. Hi, everyone,

My fiancee is Chinese citizen, but she is studying in Canada as foreign student. She has the legal study

visa till 2007. I am going to apply the K-1 visa for her. Can she interview in Canada? or she must go back to China and complete the interview? Anything I need to do when I submit the I-129F to request the interview in Canada? If she can interview in Canada, which embassy in Canada she should attend? She lives in Alberta. I hope anyone can give me the answer.

    Thank you

As far as I'm concerned, the interview ALWAYS takes place in the country where the beneficiary is native from! So, she would have to come back to China to have her interview...

As per the I-129F......it uses the word 'resident'.........not native of. Ones country of residence is not necessarily ones native country.

Yes, I know about the diference... I just thought that it was obligatory to the beneficiary to have the interview in the country where he was born, but thanks God I can see now I was wrong!

    Good luck, Alameda! :luv:

  14. My k-1 was approved on April 13th from CSC, and l called NVC on April 28th and also received an email reply that they had received my petition. On May 5th I received a letter dated May 1st from NVC stating,

    "Dear Petitioner,

The State Department's National visa center has recenlty received an approved I-129F petition filed on the behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

I called today, and they still have not sent it. I dont understand why it is still at NVC.

    Meriem (F)

What the hell?! Probably mine is there at NVC yet as well... :(

I mean.... "Probably mine is there at NVC still as well..."

Have you tried to call them? If you do let me know what they tell you. They told me today, Even though I received the letter last week, they are not done processing it. That normally it takes 2-4 weeks processing at NVC. I kept referring to the letter I received and she said, "You will receive a second letter once they are finished processing it. Just makes no sense. There are petitions that are arriving to NVC after mine and have already been sent to the embassies. :(

    Meriem (F)

Hmm... But did they already gave you your case number?

I don't remember if Chris told me they said in the letter that they would send a second letter... Can't remember... Damn it!

  15. I have made an appointment to meet with my congressperson! That was one of my friend's suggestion too. Do you think they could actually help?

I never received any letters, nor did my fiance, warning us that our case might expire. I would think continually haranging the Embassy via email might be evidence enough that we still intend to marry! Would writing letter to the Embassy help at this point? Can they recall our petition?

Yes, after the interview, they gave him a paper requesting additional documents

Hm... Dunno about this, but concerning to the Congresman, I've seen a lot of people that have been helped by this person! Anyway, it doesn't seem to be fair the reason for them to have "denied" your visa! If the problem was only the sponsor thing, I agree with you... What would assure you that you would be approved if you applied for this visa again?

So, I think you really MUST appeal and contacting your Congressman is a good attempt to have your petition recalled! ;)

  19. A new scam is being pulled on women mainly in broad daylight.

What happens is that when the intended victim stops at a traffic light, an almost NUDE, good looking, tanned, muscled young man comes up to her car and pretends to wash the windshield.

While he is doing this, another young, handsome athletic man opens the back door of the car, jumps in and insists the woman drive off with him to some lonely spot, where he has his way with her .

They are very good at this

They got me three times Friday and five times Saturday.

    #######????

    ....................I couldn't find them on Sunday .

    #######??
