  1. Hi All,

I wonder if any of you experiencing the same thing with me, I am K1 Visa holder,I entered U.S. since 21 Feb. I have filled my I-485 since March 12, I checked on the courier tracking that USCIS received it on March 13. We haven't heard any news since then till now, I am waiting for the NOA1. I read in the other forum that mostly people get their NOA1 within 3 - 8 days from the date of received the documents.

I really hope to get NOA1 and we can track our status, I start getting bored here with no activity. I really dont care about Green Card, all I care is the work permit that let me be able to work and be function professionally.

Try to be a little patient, as the NOA1 hardcopies take time. If you see that your check was cashed, you may have more to go off of.

As for the status, it really depends on the adjudicator you have and how nice they are in updating your status. AOS is different from K1 in that they don't really update your case status that often unless you have an RFE. Since our original NOA1, we haven't had any case updates.

  2. Great news! I thought it was an April Fools joke, but I just got an email that my wife's cases were updated. The status for EAD says "Case Terminated Benefit Received by Other Means". Her AOS status says "New Card is Being Produced".

I can only assume her AOS has been approved without an interview!!! (and much much faster than we thought)

WOW so happy for you!!!! Yay february filers!!!

  3. In order to answer your question, you need to look at a copy of the DS3025 to ensure your husband had all his vaccinations completed in Botswana. The doctor there should have given him a copy, and if not, he should get in contact with their office to request that. He does not need another medical if it hasn't expired yet, but he may need more vaccines. So you need to get that form handy. As for travel within the U.S., you don't have to worry about his status. It's only when you leave the States and come back that you will be denied entry without advance parole.

  4. I definitely suggest going to the office, and when you do, request to speak to a supervisor. A lot of the times, these state employees are incompetent, but the supervisor should know more. If they cannot fix it, they will claim it's out of their hands and they can't do anything because they sent the information for verification to DHS. If you call USCIS, they won't have any information, because the department that works on social security cards does not have an open line to the public. We had to involve our congressman to get our SSN faster, and even then, it took over 6 weeks.

  5. I think it was MASH. She said only nine of her fingers would scan and that it wasn't a big deal!

    yep you're right!

That is odd... Only my pointer finger was taken... No other prints done?

On the top right of your biometric notice, what code does it classify? I copied this from another user:

Code 1 is for fingerprinting of all 10 fingers. This is electronically sent to FBI the same day, they run it to match thru their database to match it with criminals/persons of interest and send the results the same day (or the next) to USCIS. Code 1 is very important as it is part of your security/background check and determines admissibility for GC. Code 1 expires after 15 months e.g. FBI needs to check their database again.

Code 2 (right index finger only+photo+sign) is for the generation of cards for immigration benefits e.g. EAD, GC etc. If you filed for EAD, you definitely need code 2 or the card can not be generated. Code 2 is done everytime we apply for a benefit.

Code 3 (fingerprinting all 10 fingers+photo+sign) is a combination of both, when USCIS wants to get a security check done on you as well as generate card.

  6. Anyone had any experience on what they do when you have cuts?

I just papercut myself, 3 hours before my appointment. :ranting: It's superficial and on top of my finger but there is a faint line showing. I think I might just have delayed my biometrics appointment.

lol don't worry. Just show up at your appointment and see what they say. I heard another user say that they couldn't get fingerprints from one of her fingers, so they just used the other ones and everything ended up being ok.

  7. Yes you can use her income alone regardless of if you file jointly.

    From the I864 instructions:

"If you provide a photocopy of your Federal individual income tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every

Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS
transcript of your Federal individual income tax returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint income tax return

with your spouse and are qualifying using only your income"

  8. Hi everyone,

I've been following this thread so thought I'd share my timeline with everyone too. I'm adjusting from a J1 work visa. Got married at a court house mid January and submitted everything shortly afterwards.

    AoS Timeline

    2/1/2016: sent away AOS package

    2/12/2016: Receipt notices PD 2/9

    3/7/2016: biometrics notice

    3/14/2016: request for initial evidence

    3/21/2016: biometrics completed

The RFE we received was regarding the affidavit of support and two pages with blank boxes. Our lawyer has told us these requests are common and should not hold the process up any longer than a week/two weeks. We are waiting now on the notification that they have received our revised paperwork and then hopefully be scheduled for interview! It's so great to see people's processes moving along quickly - so psyched for you guys that have interviews already!

Good luck to everyone. Thank you all for being so helpful.

Thanks for sharing your timeline! Did your lawyer tell you to leave a ton of boxes blank? Seems fishy...

  9. Hello, I'm confused about which office to go to based on the biometrics letter I received for adjustment of status. The address on the letter is: "USCIS Raleigh, 10954 Chapel Hill Rd. Suite 101, Morrisville, NC 27560", but when I look up the address online, USCIS lists a different address in Durham as the Raleigh/Durham field office: "301 Roycroft Drive Durham, NC 27703".

When I tried searching the biometric address online, I found that it moved it's Durham office to the new location in Morrisville. (http://www.edgertonimmigration.com/blog/2015/11/24/raleigh-durham-asc-office-moving-closed-on-12315-and-12415/).

I'm a little hesitant to drive all the way out to Morrisville if there's still an office in Durham. Is the USCIS online database more correct or the biometric notice? Are there any users here from Raleigh that can comment on where they went?

  10. Again, really depends on who's desk you land on/ how busy your local office is. I am going to go ahead and assume that whoever is processing my case is slow as molasses or the local office is backed up because people who had bio's after me have already heard back. My bio was March 9 and my case, according to the USCIS site, has been untouched since Feb 18 :(. Also, like I mentioned before, cases like Simon's (ie. non K1) seem to be moving quicker.

All that said, I hope yours moves along quickly.

One of the users above posted that they were transitioning from a K-1 and received notice of an interview. Their biometric was on March 9th I believe, so I hope everyone in that time frame gets good news soon!
