My husband had his interview at the Tampa office this morning at 11:20. And it was over by 11:33.
APPROVED!
The officer was super friendly. We had forgot to list two cruises that we had gone on in the travel section of the application. They were so long ago and we were going off of stamps in his passport for the travel. And of course you don’t get stamps in your passport on cruises. He was able to update his travel section at the interview, and it was no problem at all.
The questions he got asked were: Who is the father of our country, what are the political parties of the United States, what is the rule of law, what war did the US fight in the 1800s, who is the vice president right now, and what ocean is on the West Coast?
For the reading and writing portion, he had to read where is the White House? And he wrote the White House is in Washington DC.
Oath ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow!

No officer at the interview will give you certified copies of anything, because it does not yet exist. Should you have the oath ceremony scheduled the same day, like some few people on here did, then you might ask them, but ONLY after the pledge of allegiance is said at the ceremony. Nobody even gets it before then, it is handed to everyone after the ceremony of oath is over.
If you don’t mind me asking, what are you really needing the copies for? I’m a little confused.
Honestly idk what I need this for. I just read on here (VJ) to ask for certified copies at the end of your interview if you are approved?

I am on USCIS’ website and it says this. So I am so confused. Can we literally send in a non-certified copy of a naturalization certificate??
”You do not need to obtain a Certified True Copy if the U.S. government asks for a copy of your certificate for official U.S. government business. For example, if the U.S. Department of State requests your Certificate of Naturalization when you apply for a U.S. passport, you may use a normal photocopy that has not been authenticated. You may use a normal photocopy of your certificate for legitimate U.S. government business.”

Without oath ceremony, you are not citizen yet, so I assume this case would be that some offices arrange oath ceremony just after the interview same day and they give you the naturalization certificate same day. Not all offices do same day oath ceremony though.
Correct. But say they do schedule you for next day, at what point can you ask for certified copies? At the ceremony? With the officer at the interview?

I read on here (VJ) somewhere, that at your interview you can ask for certified copies of your naturalization certificate. Did anyone do this?

Thank you both for your replies! This is good to know!

Hi!
When applying for naturalization my husband wanted to change his name (he’s Latin so he has two last names. He wanted to drop one.) Now that his interview is scheduled and he’s had more time to think about it, he has decided he doesn’t want to change his name.
Will this be an issue? Or can he just tell the officer at the interview he does not want to go through with the name change?
Thanks!

Oh my, I hope you tried calling early in the morning. Someone in another forum got through today to them and updated us on their issue. Keep trying to call and when you do request a 2nd tier. Did you explain to the uk embassy rep why youre asking about your application and that you need the passport to attend an important interview? Try to escalate it and explain.
Do you need your birth country passport for the interview? My husbands Colombian passport expired in May and the consulate in Orlando and Miami has no appointments until next year. He was able to snag an appointment at the Atlanta consulate for late August. So all he has right now is his expired passport and GC.

Relax …. It’s only been almost 5 months since you’ve filed. They told us a year n we waited longer for other processing. Just use the time to study the civics n print and prepare your paper work.
When you see people who applied after you getting interviews it’s disheartening. Especially when they’re at offices that are quoted longer waits than our office. Disheartened but not stressed.

Hi February fillers! How are things progressing with your applications? I see many March and April fillers already being scheduled their interviews, and I feel I might be among the few February fillers with no interview notice yet! Very discouraging 😔
Same. February 8th here and nothing. It’s so disheartening and discouraging.

Can someone with pending online n-400 look at their account see how the uploaded documents are listed?
Is it in order? is the green card the first item?
Mine are not in order

Tampa, which usually has a faster processing time must be lagging. Cause it’s been crickets for us since feb 9.

Do you think there is a difference in processing time for 3 year rule vs 5 year rule? I know less documents have to be sent with 5 year rule. Wondering if that makes it faster or not?

Thank you so much! We are going to complete and print out a new travel section so he can take it to his interview.
And congratulations!!!

Hi all,
My husband applied for naturalization back in February. When we filled out the application we forgot to list a 7 night closed-loop cruise (Fort Lauderdale - Mexico - Jamaica- Fort Lauderdale) on the trips outside of the US. When we listed all the trips we were going off of stamps in his passport. Because the cruise was 4 years ago it completely left our minds and we forgot to list it. There was never passport stamps, as it was a closed loop cruise.
Now we are freaking out that we forgot to list it. Has anyone experienced this? Should we upload a document to his online account in the evidence section mentioning this? When he has his interview should he bring it up and tell them or wait for them to ask? Of if they ask if he needs to alter anything with the application.
Any advice to help ease our stress would be greatly appreciated.

So if you are applying with the 5 year rule do you skip the marriage questions on the application? How do you choose the 3 or 5 year rule when you are filling out the application?

Apply under the 5 year rule which has fewer documentation requirements
But do you have to send it all the marriage docs? Because the application asks if you’re married. By marriage docs I mean marriage license, tax returns, mortgages, bank accounts etc.
thanks again!

It applies relative to the “resident since” date on the green card
Thank you! Also since he could technically apply under the 5 year rule since his green card says resident since 2016 do we still need to send in all the marriage proof docs? I know the form asks if your married or not. But if it’s the 5 year rule then do they need all that?
