I'm in the same boat! Everything arrived there October 22nd, did my biometrics on the 16th November, my AOS case was updated to ready for interview on Nov 25th but I've heard nothing about AP or EAD. Freaking out as my twin's wedding is back in Scotland in 2 months
-
Yup, totally understand! I just moved here 4 months ago, and got married in October. The last couple of weeks in Scotland were absolute hell. I was crying all the time. My anxiety was stopping me from functioning. It SUCKED! I've been with my partner for 4 years. It doesn't make it any easier. I mean, why should I choose one person over ALL my friends and family?
But at the end of the day, I just did it. It was so hard saying goodbye at the airport, but once I arrived and started settling in, it slowly got better and better. I still don't have my work permit, so it's been a few months of decorating the house and looking after our new puppy.
Yes, it's super hard, and I miss home every day. But I'm with the love of my life and I'm glad I chose to move here. There are times when I miss my family so much, but they are only a skype call away. And we are lucky that we can afford to fly home at least once a year to see them, and they can fly out here. I know it seems really permanent, and I think that's the most difficult part. You can do it!

No no, your passport is NOT included in the sealed envelope as you need to show it to security etc at the airport
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I just had some small things as well, and I used Parcel Monkey. They use a lot of carriers like Parcel Force and DHL and give you a list of your options so you can choose which company to go for. I shipped a medium size box that weighed 8kg and it only cost £40 as opposed to sending it directly through the Parcel Force website which would cost more than double that. So yeah, they are worth a shot if it's just small stuff you have
You will still need to fill in a pro forma invoice that lists everything in the box and an estimated value (it explains all this on Parcel Monkey), but put at the top 'Personal Effects - No Commercial Value' at the top so they don't charge you customs. Mine said it would take 2-4 business days but ended up taking 2 weeks due to slow passage through customs, but it arrived in one piece and I didn't get charged anything.

I'm pretty sure fingerprints are only needed if you have a record. Also, my police check was free (maybe the commissaries charge?). I went to the local RCMP station and they did it in 10 minutes while I waited. The difference may be because the other poster was a foreigner living in Canada.
Nope, sadly because I wasn't Canadian but lived there for almost 2 years, the London Embassy asked me for a full police certificate (not just a criminal record check) which needs fingerprints, but yeah, the regular police certificate/record check you can get through the RCMP and doesn't require fingerprints
I believe St Kitts requires fingerprints if you don't live there anymore, it's pretty standard for countries that you used to reside in to ask for that.

Also, the US does their own checks, no need to get those yourself.
Oops, didn't see the last part! Yes, it was because I was a foreigner

Thank you!!
No problem, good luck!

Thanks for that, i was looking everywhere online for where i could get my fingerprints taken. I will call them tomorrow and find out more details about it. Do you know by any chance how much they charge?
Well I got mine done as part of the full police certificate and it cost me $75 I think...so it'll probably be less just to get the fingerprints done. I emailed them through the website and they were really fast to reply so I'd try that as well.
Here's a link on the info from their website:

Thank you for your response. I was really hoping you would say I would not need it, as its a real struggle i hear to get this police clearance from St. Kitts.
Anyway thanks again i appreciate it!
Aw no! Hopefully it's not too difficult
You'll probably need to get your fingerprints taken in Canada to put in with your police certificate application. I got mine done at Commissionaires and they were very helpful and efficient.

I'm pretty sure you won't need to get a US police certificate as they will do all the checks once you send in your application anyway. But yeah you should get one for St Kitts & Nevis as you were there for so long that it can't be classed as a vacation. I'm from the UK and lived in Canada for 22 months but visited home every 5 months and I had to get one for there. Hopefully it's not too difficult to get

Try using Airbnb instead - I rented a one bedroom apartment not far from the embassy for around £120.

Yeah, they actually did email me a copy with the doctors printed name after I wrote the above, so I'm gonna include that and the original and a note saying why there's two just in case. I don't think it would be a big deal, but it would be interesting to hear if others that went to Knightsbridge had the same thing.

Hi all,
Just a quick question. I have all my vaccine's up to date and was just about to send in my AOS packet when I noticed that the Doctor didn't print their name on the D-2035 or check the box that says I'm up to date (although I read somewhere that they are not required to check the box with K-1 visa's). Their signature is there, and everything else is fine, I'm just wondering if this is a huge deal or whether I should go ahead and send it in anyway. I've been trying to email a copy to Knightsbridge in London where I got it done but they are being slow about replying. Anyone else had this problem?
Cheers,
Caroline

You can take your bag/phone etc into the interview now, so no need to drop them off first
-
Yes, I got mine on a Saturday
It took 2 days from the email for it to arrive.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm hesistant to just 'wing it' because I've had to make a major claim before, both with a medical issue and lost baggage. So it seems that regular travel insurance isn't the way to go.... while browsing, I came across a one-way travel insurance company called Go Walkabout - have any of you heard of it? It might be the answer!
-
So I can't really find any answers to this in the forum, wondering if any of you have any good ideas...
I'm moving to the states on August 23rd, and getting married on October 3rd. I'm applying to Covered California for temporary health insurance to cover me for the time before our wedding, but what has everyone done for travel insurance to cover lost baggage, cancelled flights etc? All the UK travel insurance companies I've seen require you to be a UK resident and return to the UK after your trip, so it's no use.
Any ideas?

I got an email saying that DX group had my passport & visa 2 days ago, but when I go to track it, it says "Your item has been sent via 3rd party. Please contact your service provider." Anyone else had this?

Ended up getting the correct size passport photos at a local passport photo booth. Called "Photo Me" quick and easy US passport photo!
Hi BryterMoon! Whereabouts was that passport photo booth? I need to get a photograph too and there's virtually nowhere that does it where I live - last place I went to did it wrong as well! May as well just get it done in London.
-
Paranoid.
Probably! But is this something that you've experienced personally? Because neither the embassy or ACRO will give me a straight answer on it.

Thanks Nich-Nick

Does anyone know if the medical results take 3-4 business days or just regular days? It's just I had my medical on Friday, and I checked the CEAC tracking and it says it was updated today. I was stressing over the x-ray due to some previous health issues with my lungs so can't wait til I get given the all clear and it gets sent to the embassy! Apart from that, the medical was super easy and everyone is SO nice. Especially the female Doctor from New Zealand.

Hi guys,
I just got back last week from 2 years living in Canada. I've got my medical tomorrow in London. My UK police certificate has my Canadian address on it (as does the I-129F but I'm not worried about that). It's going to be weeks, I imagine, until my interview - should I get a new police certificate with my UK address on it or do you think it will be ok as is? The embassy in London know of my change of address.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid
-
Hi all- a quick question. We've just scheduled our medical exam for next Friday (May 29th)
I've got mine that day too!
God I hate medicals ha ha. And it's like pulling teeth trying to get my GP to give me my vaccines - apparently they assess you now and determine whether or not they want to give them to you based on where you are going! So looks like I'll be paying a bunch next week for vaccines.

Just thought I'd add to this topic! I visited my fiance over the weekend, entering through customs at Toronto Pearson Airport. The customs officer couldn't be more disinterested. He literally just asked, 'why are you going to the states?' and I said 'vacation' and that was it! I even had booked my tickets as 2 one way tickets because it was cheaper, so asked if he wanted to see proof of my return flight and he said no! Super easy! He didn't ask me any questions about who I was going to see, or mentioned anything about the K-1 visa, so I'm assuming it doesn't pop up in the system.
I'm visiting again next month for 3 and a half weeks so I'll let you know how that one goes! Hopefully it's just as easy
