NickD - was that money to make a new system, or actually train SSA employees about the SAVE database system and how to properly use it ?

I hope it's to learn how to use it. I went to SSA on 2/1/17 to update my name in the system. I am not a us citizen I am adjusting status to LPR. I got my second EAD card with my married name. My DL revolves around this. So my license is expired and will remain so until SSA can verify my immigration status which they claim can take 4 frigging weeks. What the hell happened to SAVE?

But it shouldn't be taking that long, your pd became current months ago. Have you tried an inquiry?

    Waiting for my second.

I've called multiple times, even had a call back from a tier 2 officer, nothing. They all claim that it's rescheduled but no date...nonsense. The bureaucracy is overbearing. My appointment was cancelled since 1/11/17. Now I'm trying to renew my license and they won't do it unless my name is updated at SSA. I applied to get it updated but these people gave me a letter stating that it can take up to a month to verify my immigration status. What the hell? What about SAVE verification? Now I have to depend on my husband to take me to work, change my hours or work from home due to this nonsense. I'm also 5 months pregnant. I hope USCIS doesn't schedule my appointment when I'm due.

    Good morning!

Yesterday early am I got this email:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On June 7, 2016, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number MSC****. Your interview is on July 14, 2016. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by July 7, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

Anyone knows what is happening? I am AOS from previously J1 and B2. I knew we gonna have an interview , I do not think they will avoi the interview like the people that adjust the status from K1 , but any opinions?

I am moving on Saturday and I am worried that with that something wil be lost in the mail.

    Thank you

Hello, did you get rescheduled? Mine was cancelled this month. I showed up for cancelled appointment only to be turned away. I'm expecting a baby in June. Hope they don't reschedule for then.

You can't/don't claim your spouse as a dependent but you do get a bit of a tax credit if they are unemployed.  The amount depends on your tax bracket.

I am in the same boat. We have filed jointly for the past 2 years. I have an SSN as I worked on campus as an F1. After graduation I received my EAD and found another job. I also volunteered for VITA and received tax filing training from the college. You must attach a statement that your spouse is filing as a resident for tax purposes. Check IRS page at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/nonresident-spouse-treated-as-a-resident or consult a tax professional.

Did you file I-765 and if so, was it ever approved?

when did that change? looking at your timeline, it seems the process for you has been longer than expected :(. now based on your timeline, i'm worried that my h1b will expire before I even get an interview

This is my second I765. The one on my timeline is the first. Last night my status for i765 changed to card in production. My AOS is current but the cancelled my interview for tomorrow.

Ok, I just saw your timeline. So you filed for AOS October 2015 but your PD is Dec 2014, so it has become current. (correct?)

Yes, that's correct. I don't know which date they use for separated I130 and I485. On the interview notice has Oct. 2015 as the priority date but my I130 was approved in December, 2014. So confusing... Did you get your interview letter? What's your PD?

is this executive order or written law? I only ask this because it is the last day of one presidency so it could be reversed just as easily if it is not a written law.

No idea. I'm aware of Trump's order to hold off on politicies at federal agencies. Like I said, call and verify for your individual case. If my HR says they're aware of it, then that's good enough for me.

Do you have a source for this?

Was informed via phone by customer service rep today. Also spoke to my HR department and they are aware of the policy effective 1/19/2017. I have looked it up on USCIS website but did not find it. Pls note that it only pertains to family based AOS. I would recommend that VS readers call customer service and ask about their individual cases.

You can call and ask for an expedite based on severe financial loss if you lose your job.

You should file for renewal EAD and AP documents 120 days before your current documents will expire.

So filing 100 days before gives USCIS an excuse to not have it completed before expiration? Thanks for you comments but this is not helpful. You and I both know that it does not make a difference. They do this because they can.

  10. Hello everyone, pls help. I was scheduled for AOS interview on 1/26/17. They cancelled the appointment with no explanation. My EAD expires on 1/28/17. I submitted a request for status on 1/13/17 as it has been over 75 days since I applied for renewal. I received a letter today stating that it is within normal processing time. I know it's up to 90 days but I figured they'd have the courtesy to renew as they cancelled my appointment. I am so frustrated as I can't work after Friday. I am still going to show up to the interview as I don't know what else to do. Please share your opinions on this matter. PS I attempted to contact a representative but have not received a response.

  11. This is a question to all who applied for AOS - I485 under F2A category.

For people who applied under the Filing Dates charts when were they called for interview? After the priority (Final Action Dates) became current or were they interviewed before.

I am trying to establish when my interview can happen.

    PD DEC 24 2014

Final Action Dates (PD) Becoming current in Nov 2016 Visa Bulletin

Filed I485 AOS using filing dates in Oct 2015 Visa bulletin

    Thanks

Hello, I have no idea. My priority date is December 29, 2014 and I filed for AOS October 26, 2015. I'm just as confused because the last I heard is that my case is still at NBC. I figured it should be in Baltimore as they are currently processing I485 before January 16, 2016. Good luck. Currently, I'm waiting for renewal of EAD which will expire at the end of January.
