Lonely In London - That's how I'd describe myself right about now.
My name is Steve Haze - I'm a singer/songwriter and powered paragliding instructor/pilot who met the most beautiful girl on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii in September.
I'm currently going through the wait for the K1 Fiancé visa interview.
I thought that maybe coming on here and boring others with my story might kill a few minutes on a beautiful summer evening in England, when I'm missing my fiancé so much that my brain hurts.
It's this most amazing clichéd story that I just love it.
We met in a bar and from the first moment I knew that something was special about this person. To say we "clicked" is an understatement; the click was like Thunder.
We ended up spending every night hanging out together. I was supposed to leave after a week to go and visit some friends in Portland, but because I sensed this was something special, I called them and arranged to go out a few days later.
They didn't mind, as they could hear how excited I was. So I stayed a few extra days, which gave me the time and confidence to say something meaningful...
On my last night there, we climbed a rock in Waimea Bay and planned to jump off into the sea. It's high enough to be exciting but low enough that it's a common jumping spot.
So there we stood - on the edge...waiting for a wave to make it deeper...and as we jumped and gave ourselves up to gravity, I said those three words; "I love you". It was crazy! I'd only known this girl for 10 days!! What was I thinking??
I half expected an awkward "Awww thanks!" as we came up for air from the water we had just crashed into...but instead, the happy smiling face that was swimming towards me said "I love you too!!"
I left the next day...vowing to come back and spend some more time with her.
I spent 3 nights in Portland (boring my friends by talking about someone how only someone who is newly in love will do) and then headed back to the UK.
When I got off the plane, I picked up my car, drove to my job and handed in my resignation saying that I was going to book a flight out for the day after I had worked my notice. That's what I did.
During the 4 weeks we were apart - I wrote a song called Mermaid, which was all about her and the craziness to do with my situation. She liked it!
When I flew back to see her, I was armed with another 4 or 5 new songs that I had been inspired to write. I had suffered from writers block for a few years.
I arrived just as a Hurricane was due to hit Hawaii and we walked on the beach in the pouring rain and swam in the sea as it poured down around us.
We spent a magical 89 days together with me living in her house. We had so many adventures and good times and I could not believe that I had found this amazing person and I did not want to let her slip away.
So a couple of weeks before I headed back to the UK once more, on Christmas Eve Eve, I proposed.
I had ordered the ring online - I knew what I wanted to get...and the day it was delivered, I could not help myself. I had spent the day recording a new song.
She was making cookies in the kitchen for a work cookie-bake-off and getting stressed at the amount she was having to make. I sat there with the biggest secret of my life...and when she had finally finished, I could not resist.
I played her the song...and sitting there on the sofa where we had had so many evenings chilling out together, talking and falling deeper in love, I asked the question. She said yes.
So that's the beginning of the story...
Now every life has it's troubles and when she came to visit me for my birthday in February, we went snowboarding in Switzerland where unfortunately I crashed and broke my collar bone badly.
This made my most recent visit to her more difficult as I was feeling very housebound, frustrated and fragile - and that's hard when we had been having so many adventurous times together.
But ultimately she got to see my at my weakest and worst and still loves me. I'm a lucky man. Really. Very lucky!
Leaving her to return here to the UK for my medical, the interview and to sort out selling everything that I own was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.
We provisionally plan to marry in September, a year after we met...that is...if things with the visa go according to plan!
I hope reading this has entertained you on an evening when maybe you are bored and lonely and missing your beloved.

This is exactly right; we have to be logical here. The last we know for sure is that they are making progress and even have processed a small number for the first priority to be processed. Some of the consulates are stating specifically that 2-3 weeks processing is to be expected from interview. While I am cynical with these terms as well, there is a lot of pressure from groups more noticeable then ours to get these out. We can't know how they will be released, the order, how the consulates work, etc. But it is moving and we can follow the news.
Some people are not going to wait weeks and will be in the first groups and it will go from there. What we all have now is to hope it's any of us and then us. Keep up the updates and the thoughts that we go day by day hoping it's very soon. We are used to this. It's not helping me at work, with friends or my husband to stay down and angry and think this can go on so much longer........and factually there is a system they are working with. Don't let it keep you down in thoughts when there may be no reason for it.
Please keep updating here; this is the place I look most for news on this. Work a couple jobs and not a lot of time to go on all the sites looking for the one that can tell me the latest.

I have no specific advice to share but I wanted to say you are such a good-hearted person for taking care of this little boy who greatly needs you and his father, of course. God bless you...You are a good and kind person. You should feel really proud of yourself...I know it seems hard and overwhelming and I would feel the same! But I have a feeling things will work out for you all as a family.
Good luck! I send you my very best wishes
