  1. OP, finding a job in this country can be one of the most stressful experiences ever. I'm currently working for a major global bank and have had a lot of interaction with the recruiting and HR department due to working with them directly. I was friends with the head of recruiting for a while until they left the company. It is standard behavior for them to never respond to you unless they need something from you directly no matter the form of communication.

Even with all of my direct networking with these areas I recently experienced having my position closed out and shipped to India. I found other positions in the company to apply for and even with high level executives communicating with the recruiter's boss it would still take days to get a response.

It's also normal for them to send incorrect resumes to hiring managers because they know nothing about the business, so they only scan for key phrases. I've seen this happen a number of times. I've also seen them schedule interviews for applicants, but never coordinate with the business hiring manager. Just a few weeks ago there was someone show up for an interview and one of the managers was walking around the floor asking people if they were expecting anyone. They ended up having to go back home without an interview.

I don't blame the company for this, but rather the outdated recruiting model that managers continue to utilize even though it results in universal frustration.

The best advice is what was mentioned earlier is to just keep trying until you get to know people. You'll get lucky eventually. Once you get in, talk to people and get to know them. This is crucial for your sucess in corporate America. You never know who you might need to call on for a favor in the future.

I think the average time it can take to find a skilled position is 3-6 months.

  2. This appears to be for a K1. Vaccinations are checked when you file your adjustment of status. At POE they are looking at the visa itself and what is in the sealed envelope.

Seasonal vaccination like the flu is required only if it is the correct season at the time of the medical checkup, not when you file the adjustment of status. I added this last part here to help you not get ripped off by civil surgeons here in the states like they did me.

  3. DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE AN IDEA IF I (PETITIONER) CAN GO WITH MY FIANCE DURING THE INTERVIEW IN MANILA?

PLS SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE. THANK YOU.

Yes you can go. I went with my then fiance and it was a neat experience. I personally recommend being there for her interview and flight back if you can. It really helps your fiance relax and have an easier time.

The lines were REALLY long when I was at the embassy. The thing to know is that you don't have to wait in those long lines. There is a separate line for spousal visa interviews at the front so don't be scared to walk up to the front to get in the correct line.

  4. I'm going off memory, but I believe you can change the delivery of the visa on the website you made the interview appointment on shortly after the interview is completed. They had given us a piece of paper explaining that process once my wife was approved. If the embassy hasn't delivered it yet, then it's them you want to talk to.

As far as the exit money goes I couldn't tell you about that. I was worried about that when we flew out. I bought her ticket over the phone with Delta and verified it did not have the tax on it. No one at the airport gave us any problem or asked for it.

  5. I would think the embassy would accept the document as long as it is not expired. The CFO might be another matter. I would have her go get another one if is not too much of a burden. It's cheap and she can get it the same day if she waits in line. Of course distance and transportation factor into the equation in the Philippines. I wish you good luck.

  6. I understand your frustration, OP. Your wife is in an immigration limbo area right now. I'm just coming out of the same thing with my wife. We got her new ssn with her married name in the mail this morning. It's confusing because some places like doctors offices and banks will not recognize her married name until she has an ID showing it, but her insurance is under her married name. We had to carry her passport, ssn, and copies of the marriage certificate everywhere to clear up name confusion. This will pass. I agree with the others to wait until she gets her EAD. That's what made things work for us.

  7. Could you find a men only gym?

The problem with this is she is also freaking out about his job and things he does at home. I've seen this before and I would bet money she has borderline personality (BPD).

My message to the OP is to go read this: https://shrink4men.wordpress.com/2009/01/30/10-signs-your-girlfriend-or-wife-is-an-emotional-bully/

  8. I couldn't find anything for Jacksonville, FL so I wanted to contribute to help future people.

I called a handful of places and the doctor either didn't do it anymore, or wanted to do a full exam for $150. Way too much.

Finally found one that would just do the transcription for $50.

Dr. Juan F Garcia, Paxon Primary Care

1718 North Edgewood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32254

    (904) 781-6203

If you call, speak to Norma. The receptionist transferred me to her cause she handles all the immigration info.

They said they do a lot of immigration exams. Not sure about prices but probably reasonable.

I went to this place based on recommendation. Norma tried to sell a full physical and had to be told no twice before she would agree to only transcribe. When we got there she forced a flu shot on us stating it is required. I followed up and checked on this and the flu shot requirement is based on the date of the physical, not the date she is transcribing. My final verdict on Norma and Paxon Primary Care is they will try to rip you off if they can, but you can get through if you are assertive and know what is not necessary.
