  1. Hi!

This question came up a long time ago, I've tried calling lawyers yesterday and today but noone gave me an answer. But I want to get everything ready because I have NOA-2 approved already.

My dad is a co-sponsor (he agreed), he is well above poverty line (he can support my family since i'm a dependent of him + my fiance + other person based on his income). But! If someone will count mortgage money (they are selling one house right now, so once it's sold there will be less money but how long will it take to sell the house...) and other expenses, those expenses are higher than his income on his tax return. Should I be worried and ask my sister to be the co-sponsor or everything will be ok with my dad (since most of the people in USA live on their credit cards)?

And if my dad will be OK on i-134, will he be ok on i-184 too?

And my dad is self-employed, he is a bussinessman.

As long as his business income meets the poverty guidelines then you will be fine. when considering income they do not look at a debt to income ratio. Unless of course you are speaking about his business having a loss rather than a profit therefore bringing him below the poverty guidelines. If that's the case then you should seek an alternative co sponsor who can meet the criteria. Credit card limits and extensions of credit would never be considered income... They are a debt not an asset and need to be paid back.

  2. Just got off the phone with NVC - they're saying it's currently taking 35 days for them to receive cases and to call back 35 days after the NOA2 date. My NOA2 date is April 27th, should I keep calling before the 35 days is up, or is that a pretty accurate number?

Simon, I called every night once 1 week had passed since they had received it at the NVC. It took 18 days to get there from Texas and only a week to get a case number but I called every night till they caved.

  3. No I didn’t see that...there’s two type of visa application one for nonimmigrant visa NIV and there’s Immigrant visa IV I pick the one for Immigrant visa IV,then I put my case number. and theres nothing came up.Can you send me a print screen?

Log in to the page from here:https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx from there enter in your info. It will take you to the payment page. If there is a N/A where your AOS fee showed PAID you have a CC

    Hope this helps.

** Please update your timeline. You still don't show a NOA2 date, etc.

  4. thank you so much , I have one

More question , for IV packages do I need to send only documents related to my wife ? I mean birth certificate marriage certificate , passport photos ?! Only for her ? Do we need to send any thing from my side ( I am petitioner ) thanks

I want to just let you know that I just realized your visa you're filing for is the K-3. The help I gave you was for the CR-1 Visa. It's best to check that it's not different for K3.

  5. thank you so much , I have one

The IV package is all about the beneficiary. So yes it's all about your wife. We did however include my (I'm the petitioner) divorce decree too. But it's all about her so just her documents are needed. If you follow Saylin's guidehttp://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process you will be just fine. Make sure to pay attention to all the details like writing your case # on the top right corner of all documents you send in case they get misplaced. I will add that you should check on the travel.gov site to see if there are any special instructions for her country. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

You will NOT send in originals only copies. Then make sure you mail your wife the originals of any document she does not have yet so she can bring them to the interview. She will also need copies of each of the originals.

    Best of luck

  6. Hi Everyone,

So I recieved this notification, Just want to confirm that this is my case complete letter everyone talks about right?

"All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified."

I recieved this email on April 7, 2015. When should I expect the next step?

I don't have mine yet, but that's what it looks like to me. I'd get on the phone Monday and inquire on when they might schedule the interview. You can also look on the spreadsheet for CC to interview to gauge a timeframe for your embassy.

  7. I agree with CC being 5/1 due to it being the weekend. With the time zone difference and all I didn't see it until this morning my time.

Can you give a link to the interview thread? I assume each Embassy is different in assigning interviews. Does anyone know if the NVC gives you the interview date in the same document that they officially inform you it's a CC? Or will it be two separate notices?

I had a checklist date of 4/1 then my SD of 4/9.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/547122-june-2015-interviews/

When I called to confirm my CC I asked a few questions... of course you get the usual "Can take up to blah blah blah" It's my understanding that we will receive an email when our interview is scheduled and yes each embassy is different they have to have slots available. My plan of attack is to call them every night starting Monday asking for them to assign me our interview date. Some have gotten it scheduled in days and others weeks. I'm all for pushing it through. Plus they all think I'm funny there when I thank them and say "Talk to you tomorrow" :)

  8. Drum roll for me too.......checked in this morning and see what I assume are the 3 N/A's. My AOS changed from paid to N/A. My AOS documents and civil docs were showing N/A prior. So I'm assuming it's a case complete for me too. Since it's the weekend I'll have to confirm next week.

    My SD was April 9

Guessing CC was May 1 even though I saw it today, the 2nd.

I think someone needs to pinch me, is it for real? It's been 18 months since I first filed for my husband.....so I think we are in a state of shock. ?. Now just waiting for the confirmation and an interview to be scheduled. Whoohoo!

Congratulations! You have indeed a CC. 5/1 will be your date because they are closed today. :goofy: Now head on over to the June Interview thread.

  9. thank you so much , Your nvc process was so fast :D I heard it takes at least 4 months :) can I ask you 2 questions . Since I am going to be out of country for at least 1 month , I was wondering how many days does it usually takes after you get your case number to send the documents to them ?! And my another question is do they email us the case number and other process ?! Then I can do the rest of process while I am in my country , thanks , best regards

Once you get the number you will get an email shortly after which is a "Welcome Letter". Shortly after that the DS-261 form will become available and the AOS fee will also be available to pay. My AOS fee took a day after the DS-261 before I could pay online.

We were all ready with our supporting documents. So once you have your invoice paid bar code send of the AOS & the IV package. Please read Saylin's guide. It will give you detailed step by step instructions as to how to put these together. Very important to follow the directions given so you can avoid a checklist. We can now send in both packages together and not at different times like in the past. Send this package by a trackable means (UPS, FED Ex etc) once the NVC receives it they will send you an email stating they got the documents. This is your SCAN Date. The process is taking around 30 days to review and case complete provided you don't have a checklist request. So you must stay on top of this or you could end up with a checklist because they reviewed your documents quickly. Mine was only 22 days from my scan date. So be prepared. Read Saylin's guide. Check and double check your supporting documents.

    Hope this helps.

  10. thank you for the fast answer , i want to call but How do you usually call them ?!! I have been trying to call them since 4 days ago , this is very hard for me to contact them ?! i live in california ?! I dont know , whenever I call them it says call back later !!

You have until 9pm pst to call them. The recording you hear is what everyone hears. Hang up and redial. Sometimes I had to redial 50-60 times to get through then you get put on hold. I've waited as long as two hours till someone answered. It's too late to call tonight you will have to call Monday. So for your time zone you can call from 4am-9pm.

** actually let me change my answer to you. Because you are calling for a case # you will be calling for an operator. The hold for the operator was usually less than 30 minutes. Listen to the prompts. It will ask you, and just follow the instructions for the correct prompt. Good luck. The good news is the NVC is processing much faster then in the past. Good luck to you

  11. Helle guys nvc received our case on april 27 , I called them today , and they told me that I need to wait 42 days to get the case number :( any of you got the case number sooner ?! Even they already told you the same thing ?!

That is the standard answer they give. Look at my signature... I called them nightly and heard the same thing for 7 days. Just be NICE and persistent. Thank them for the info and call again the next day/night. Monday will be 7 days for you. So call again then and everyday after till you get one assigned. Calling works, I guarantee it!

  12. WHEW! Case complete! And the whole process took less than 50 days, including a checklist. Here's hoping it doesn't take very long to get an interview date in Montreal.

I have to say that my experience with the NVC was quite positive. I don't know if they've increased the number of employees or what, but in the past month I've been able to get in touch with them by phone on the first try and never had to wait more than 15 minutes on hold. Plus, they told me it would take 60 extra days for a case complete when I replied to a checklist, but it only took them 11 days to respond. What a relief for that response to be a CC!

Best wishes to everyone else for a similar outcome!

Congratulations! Technically speaking, the "Whole Process" took you 191 days for those reading your post and wondering how you managed a CC from start (NOA1) to case complete in under 50 days.

How did you find out that you had a case complete? Did you receive an email?

You can find out by checking the ceac website and seeing your AOS Invoice go from "Paid" to N/A. They will email you about a week later. But if you call after you see it change to N/A they will most likely confirm you have a Case Complete. Hope this helps and good luck.

  13. Hi everyone, am new to this part of vj but i wish you all a speedy reply on this long journey. I need guidance throughout this process, my case was sent to the wrong place but after two months its finally at nvc they received it 4/27/15 . What's the next step? And how long is this process? Thanks

Call for a Case number next. I'd wait till Monday because that is a least a week. I would recommend you read up on the NVC process link that Saylin has written for us all. It's very good and helped us get through the NVC quickly. You can find the link in her signature at the top of this thread. Good luck to you

  14. I have a CC this afternoon. I called them earlier this afternoon to do my normal "Checking In" and bugging them on a routine basis. LoL

I make an excuse for always calling before my timeframe. Today I said when asked how can they help me that I was just nearing my date for case complete and was looking for an update and to make sure all my documents were in order, etc. The rep said "Well, lets have a look here." He was making stalling noises with ums and hmms and then said everything looked fine and they will contact me within 30 days but it could be very soon. I laughed and thanked him. Took a little nap. Woke up to find 3 N/A's!

So I encourage you all to call them like crazy if it isn't costing you an arm and leg in long distance. Lucky for me my cell plan is unlimited calls. I have bugged them non stop since my case arrived and I truly believe the people that call get their cases moved through faster. So call, call, call and if you need to call some more. Best advice I can give.

Good luck to the rest of you waiting. Thank you to all the people who help us with advice and tireless work on the spreadsheets! :dancing:

  15. Hello VJ'rs

    I have a question

    NOA2 4/6/2015

    Sent to NVC 4/17/2015

I received a conflicting received date By NVC date, its either 4/20 or 4/24

NVC keeps saying it takes up to 42 days to add the case into the NVC system. But from what I have seen here it should be faster

What would be the realistic expectation that they would have our case added? How many days after they have received our case?

    TIA!

Once they received ours it took a week to get a case number. I called them nightly. I feel the more you call you may hear a lot of "no's" and "sorry's" but it seems to push it through faster. If you look at the spreadsheet Saylin made you can see what other VJ people experienced.

  16. Thanks for the advice Saylin and Elle. Just got off the phone with Darius, tha deal MVP of the NVC, who very nicely reviewed my DS-261 with me. Took all of a minute. Very glad I didn't have to keep calling back - the thought of those long distance bills make me shudder. :P He told me it'd be about a week until we received instruction for the IV fee - does this sound right? Elle, from your signature it looks like three days, which was what I was expecting. Anyone know if that includes weekends? I check the payment portal obsessively anyway, so I'll catch it as soon as it comes in, but I was just curious as to what to expect.

Yes it was quick. The review happened on Friday the 17th and our IV Bill was available to pay on Monday the 20th
