  1. I just bought a bunch at Burlington Coat factory. Im not a size 2 but....they did have smaller sizes, because a lot of the ones I loved....were puny.

As for tailoring, yes a can be taken to a 2, depending on the suit tho sometimes it might lose some of the styling or details. I have to alter all my stuff, Im short so knee length skirts dont work, they absolutely have to be jsut above the knee or I look shorter and dumpy. And top 1 size bottom smaller, so have to always tailer skirts and pants because not every place has coordinates, you have to buy a whole suit in the same size. i really feel for people who dont sew.

  2. Congrats!

I cant believe he got his EAD, thats awesome. i was told they dont do that at the border anymore and it took me 3 months from the wedding to get mine. Not that I didnt like the 'forced vacation' hehehe

Dont forget to pop up and see me some saturday at the Grove!!!

    :)

  3. full wedding, small but full. we had an idea of the timeframe, knew we wanted it small, and i used to own a bridal shop, and do wedding consultation...i knwo weddings :) it was pretty cool, we did everyting ourselves (myself lol0 made the dress, boquets, etc etc. Just think of al lthe time you will have on your hads once you get here to do all that sort of thing, its not like you can work or anything LOL

  4. I actually found my job on craigslist. i scan thru it all the time, the missed connections/rant & raves are funny, the barter/sale section is cool, I sold one of ,y 4 wedding gowns on there, and I scroll thru the jobs, most of them are stupid 'work from home' scams

But I came upon 'event coordinator for ew professional development center' and I applied for the hell of it.....Wo0o0o0oho0o0o0 I got the job. Been at it a few weeks now, and it rocks.

on another note, the day I started this job, i got a call from Charter One (I filled out an online application) and they wanted to hire me also...good money, great hours, holidays off etc, but Im more suited for the job I got.

So ya, doesnt hurt to try craigslist, hotjobs and monster. I actually got quite a few interviews for retail with monser and hotjobs, they werent management tho so I didnt take them. I was fortunately in a position to be selective.

    Good luck tho!

  5. I LOVE Kayne...but then again, I come from the pageant world so I am predisposed to tasteless tacky glitz :D

I did see a delegate at a pageant a number of years ago in a plaid gown, she was from Montreal and he minute I saw her in it I thought 'couture'. it was very Montreal chic, it wasnt yellow plaid tho.... but it was amazing, had never seen anything like it before....and it was definitely something to remember.

Vincents thing looked stiff, uncomortable, tacky, ill-fitting and like upholstry...and he trained in couture?!?!?!?! He should be ashamed of himself and his trainers even more so.

As for Lauras 'meltdown'....its hormones baby. Thats what pregnancy does to ya....but some people LIKE having kids, 5,6,7...an even dozen, who are you or anyone to judge based on that? My mom had 6 and would have had more had she not been forced to stop or die :P

I am really backing Kayne, but unfortunately I think it is going to go to Jeffrey. I dont think Kayne is the style of designer they are really looking for. Perhaps Micheal has a good shot also. The girls, not so much.

    We'll see!

  6. maybe upon explaining the process to him, offer to not get them thier citizenship? i mean, its a compromise and honestly once you get them here, he cant stop you heh (sneaky but.... )

Is the document he is giving you for permission going to include this stipulation? If not I wouldnt stress about it, once you have the visa in your hand you are all set.

When I took my son to the consulate I just showed the seperation agreement with custoday arrangements (wife has sole custody). Thats all I needed. We dont know where my ex is day to day or how to contact him, at the time of the vsa interview we had not heard from him in 2 years......

  7. well, sometime in the begining of our relationship we just knew we wantd to be together forever but the k-1 process was overwhelming so we just did a lot of traveling and visiting while we sorted out the details of the process and when we wanted to do it...one day he tied a twist tie around my finger and said 'there, thats all I can afford' He was joking around like he always does...I kept that ring, I still have it :) but anywys...one day just as I was leaving after a weekend visit, he said 'its time to sign the papers' ..... so we knew it was set. I never really thought about a formal proposal

July 2004 and we finally have everything ready to send in then we settle in for the wait continuing the every 2 week visits

after a loooong wait for my paperwork to come in from canada, I finally got my visa appointment in october 2005 !!!!

I was not planning to activate my visa until December 6th but I still visited every couple weeks. So I was in Ohio one weekend and it was the Monday and I was supposed to meet him at the bar we frequent after he got off work. So I rolled on over to met him, he usually gets off at 5, but he calls and tells me he is running late to 'hang tight'. Ok cool, I know a lot of the people there so I'll sit and chat with them a bit....and wait.

He calls back quite a while later and says he is on his way finally that he had a lot of running around to do and for me to still wait. Ok. He also asks who all is there. The after work crowd has left and there are only about 4 people left. He asks to speak to the owner (a good friend) So I pass him the phone, unusual but ok maybe he wanted to borrow a guitar or cd or something .....

He comes in and immediately goes into the backroom with the owner...odd but ok *shrug*

He comes out and sits down beside me nd asks how my day was.....'ok'

He asks for a kiss .....'of course you can have a kiss'

    The he gets weird

He asks me if i love him...i notice he is shaking

I ask 'did you wreck the truck or something?'

He asks again 'do you love me?'

I answer 'yes, of course i love you'

he asks 'what would you say if I asked you to marry me?'

I say 'I would say yes sillyhead, you know that?' (now Im thnking he ran into my car with his truck or something)

Then he pulls out a ring box and says 'what would you say if i gave you this?'

(it took every ounce of self control I had NOT to give him a sarcastic answer since sarcasm is my second language)

I said 'YES' hugged kissed and looked over to see the owner tearing up and his wife snapping pictures.

The delay in coming to the bar after work was because he went and picked up his mom and they went ring shopping together. It meant a lot that she had a hand in picking it out, she is a special lady.

The phone call when he asked to speak to the owner was to tell him to get his camera but didnt tell him why.....when he came in and went to the back room was to show him the ring :)

He said he couldnt get down on his knee because he was shaking so much he would have fallen over

It was funny, the visa was already in place, everything was set, but he was still nervous :)

I knew he would get a ring sometime to make it 'official', I would have been happy with the twist tie ring, I really wasn't expecting the one I got...it is huge :) I guess he really does love me hehehe

  8. we brought our cat. had to have an 'international certificate of health' signed by the vet.

She had to have had her shots and stuff 30 days before crossing and the certificate needed to be signed within 10 dys prior to crossing. I think the vet signed the certificate free with the shots.

They didnt even look at the cat. Heck they didnt look in the truck. We said 'we have a cat' and the guy said 'you're good to go' *shrug*

  9. I wouldn't be surprised if he made it up to get attention. Some of the things he says, about it would take hours to describe the death... little hints of mystery "it didn't happen as you think"... it all is begging for attention.

I always wondered if the parents weren't covering up for their son.

wasnt the son like 10 years old at the tie and DNA didnt match? come on now!

  10. dont go at midnight on a holiday! lol

they actually recommended I go later at night because its less busy, but i never thought of things like shift change and greyhound bus schedules :/ we werre there 4-ever! i say go like at 11 p.m or 2 am. check the greyhound schedule just to be sure.

We piled my stuff in an SUV and a u-haul. What about renting a vehicle for the trip...a van or SUV ?

  11. I remember being at lunch with my sister and I had a completely idiotic server. I asked for a clubhouse with mayo...no mayo...did she not write it down or was it the cook? who knows...I asked her to get me some mayo...she came back and said no. im like #######? she said they didnt have mayo. how can a restaurant not have mayo? she walks away. i flag her down again and ask her to go to the kitchen and get the jar of mayo out of the fridge, open it and put some in a portion cup (had to explain what thtat was also) and bring it to me. DUH

after she went off to do that i said to my sister 'there goes her tip' and my sister replies 'tip? I dont tip waitresses, they earn a wage just like I do and no one tips me' To which I replied to her in horror...'they make LESS than minimum wage!'

ya know what....she had no idea! A lot of people dont really realize that servers make less than minimum wage. Although in Canada, its only $1 per hour less and you arent taxed on your tips :) So it really works out better.

  12. I have ridiculously long hair, and the comments I get all the time are, well second to the length, the healthiness of it. Truth is, I dont wash it daily...which ofends my husband  . I wash it every second day (unless I put a ton of product in it the day before). Thats all it needs. I condition the ends, not the scalp, conditioner isnt meant for the scalp, so just from the neck down gets it...and its the healthiest when I follow this routine...when I start putting product daily or washing it daily, it gets split ends & frizzy looking. More than 1 day between shampoos tho my scalp itches like mad

  13. Gratuity

n 1: a relatively small amount of money given for services rendered (as by a waiter) [syn: tip, pourboire, baksheesh, bakshish, bakshis, backsheesh] 2: an award (as for meritorious service) given without claim or obligation

I have waitressed, and bartended...but I still tip according to service (taking into consideration how busy the restaurant is, if its a holiday etc etc.) I detest it when a tip becomes obligatory. We went to a steak chain for their buffet wing night about a year ago, our waitress brought us our drinks then never came back, we had to get our own napkins, side dishes for the bones, etc etc, refills were apparently out of the question. We had to hunt her down for the bill. WHere was she? Chatting with some guy at the bar almost the whole time. Then we get the bill with the tip added in! #######? She did NOTHING for us, then when she brought us the credit card slip there was the space for an additional tip. I was FUMING. When I got home I immediately emailed the head office. No where was it mentioned that a 15%service charge would be added if we were having the wing buffet. It was not a 'gratituity' it was clearly a service charge, dont call it what it isnt! The head office explained to me that it was written on the menu (no it wasnt, i searched) and that the reason for it is because the servers keep the buffet station full all night. I suggested they pay thier staff more money on buffet night, or charge an extra $1 or $2 per person for the buffet and allow us the courtesy of deciding a tip on our own. Anways, they sent me a $20 gift card, but I gave it away, I wont ever go there again. A tip is earned, not expected. Yes we make less than minimum wage, and the tips are meant to balance that out, so its supposed to give us incentive to give great service. Tips have become so obligatory that servers expect them without earning them.

I worked with another bartender recently who refused to serve a guy who didnt tip her the first or second round. So here we are sharing tips all nght, but I am obviously doing more work because she would pick and choose who she would or wouldnt serve according to whether or not they tipped. THAT is the mentality of people who make me not want to tip. I get tipped, I say thank you whether its 50 cents or $5 and you are going to get the same smile, same quick (as I can) service and same good attitude no matter who you are or how much you lay on the bar.....I guess its the way I was raised or maybe my age, I was always taught to earn my money *shrug*

  14. I just did this yesterday. i recieved a pittance of the child support owed to me in form of a cheque from Family responsibility office, they wont direct deposit to foreign accounts. i just took it to my bank, asked if i could deposit it, explained it was canadian funds from a canadian bank, they said no problem, no fees were mentioned so they better not frikkin charge me any. The teller just suggested I not spend it for a few days until they had time to figure out the exchange rate and adjust my account to reflect the exchanged money. Good to know! This was Charter One

  15. I have 3 gowns for sale, 2 are ivory, informal so appropriate for an intimate wedding...http://www.evilbitch.bravehost.com/gowns.htm
