  1. I posted this on the consulate board but no answer yet. Maybe I can get some assistance here?

Trying to complete this form and I'm wondering about question 7. I've heard that on the part that asks about how much I have in savings that it's best to leave it blank or to put a zero. Does anyone know if this is the best thing to do? What have you guys put for that?

I have a couple other questions as well. When it says they want this form and the employer and bank letter all in duplicate. Am I to do one original and also send along a copy to the interview of these things? They don't really specify and I want to make sure I get it right.

Also, when having my employer and bank write the letters how should they address it? Is it "To Whom It May Concern"? Or do they need to be specific and say to what consulate it's going to? Freda said she thought her fiance's employer put "To Whom It May Concern"

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be sure I'm getting this done right. Thanks so much.

  2. Hi everyone.

I am having a co-sponsor for my fiance and due to the fact that they only sent ONE affidavit of support it's a bit hard for her to complete one. So what I'm wondering is can she just download the one from this site here and fill it out by hand??

I've heard numerous times that they hate downloaded forms but I don't understand what the big deal is. It's the exact same form as my fiance got in Packet 3 right? The co-sponsor lives over two hours away from me and I don't see the point in making a copy of the form from Packet 3 and mailing it when she can get it off her computer, but if that's what I have to do to make them happy I will. :help:

  4. Yeah his interview will be in Montreal....one of these months.

Something else I happened to think about. For the employer letter proving my job and income and also the letter from the bank. How should that be addressed? Is it to U.S. Immigration, or Consulate or To Whom It May Concern? I feel silly asking that but I just want to make sure we get everything right.

  5. I posted this on the Canadian forum but it's kinda dead there today :P

I'm a little confused on a few things (as usual) and any help would be greatly appreciated.

On question 8 on the I-134 when they ask for dependents, is that referring only to children (if I had any)instead of my fiance?

When they say they want this form submitted in duplicate, are they wanting one orginal and one copy of the I-134 taken to the interview?

Does this 'duplicate' deal, go for the employer letter and bank letter too?

Also, is it necessary to put the amount of money I have sitting in the bank on this form? The bank will be filling out the letter showing my deposits and balance anyway.

And one more thing. On the checklist he got, it states that a marriage certificate is needed. I was married once before. Are they asking for that certificate or what is that pertaining to exactly?

    Thanks for the help everyone.

  7. Hey all. I have a couple of questions concerning the Packet 3. First of all is the Social Insurance Number in Canada, the number they are asking for on the DS 156 question 14 as the National Identification number?

Also, in the letter packet 3 it states to send back the DS 230 immediately THEN gather the info for the checklist and send it in. My understanding is that most of you sent both of these at the same time. So either way is okay to do?

Oh and one more thing. My fiance was completing the first copy of the DS 156 and partially signed his name because he forgot he wasn't supposed to sign. Will they give him another to complete at the interview or just have him finish signing it once he's there? I know several people have said they HATE any downloaded forms and only want the ones directly from their office.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  8. Thanks Mich. I hope it won't be too much longer. I'm trying my best to be patient, but there are some days that I feel like I'm going to lose it. He's going to attempt to come see me in a couple of weeks, so I'm hoping and praying they'll let him through. That will ease a lot of stress at least for the time that he's here to vist.

Do I get a receipt in the mail from NVC that they've mailed the petition to Montreal?

One other question, which I feel really stupid asking but will anyway. How do I update my timeline? I've already forgotten how to do it since I last updated about my NOA2. Pathetic but true

  9. Hey guys. I called the NVC today and they STILL have not sent our petition to Montreal. :( I know they say give it 2 to 4 weeks. sigh. It's been 9 days since it got there and I'm looking at other people's timelines and they're literally being shipped out within 3 to 5 days. It took two and half weeks from the NOA2 to even get to the NVC. I guess I'm overreacting but I'm really bummed. I thought for sure it would have been sent by now. Sorry. Just really frustrated and depressed today and need to vent.

  10. hmm I thought that even if I talk to a real person at the NVC they're going to tell me the same thing, that it's not been received. Maybe I'm wrong on that? So are we basically stuck wondering at waiting to see if it makes it to NVC? We have no number to contact CSC to see if it's been sent to NVC? :(

  11. Hey Guys. I have question. Our petition was approved at CSC on April 24th and I've called the automated number at the NVC and it says our petition has not yet been received there. I'm getting a little nervous sinceit's been 3 weeks now. I saw someone else's time line on this board that was approved on the 24th and they already received packet 3. Is there anyway to find out from CSC if they've sent our petition to NVC yet? I'm just getting a little nervous that it's been lost or something.

    Thanks for the help.

  12. Hmm so even though he has the goverment card showing that he's had all immunizations needed by immigration and it's signed by a doctor that may not be enough? And does he HAVE to have the titre test regardless? Sorry for all the questions. Just confused. I want to make sure he has everything he needs when he goes there so he only has to make the one trip and be done with it.

  13. Hey all. On the subject of info needed to take to the medical appointment. My fiance saw his doctor the other day and took his immunization card with him. He told her that he needed to know if he had all vaccinations required for immigration and she looked at his card and said he did. Does he just take that card with him to the medical or does he need an actual statement from his regular physician? Also, he had surgery about a year ago. Does anyone know exactly what the immigration doctor needs from his regular physician regarding surgeries or any other reasons he's had to see her?

  14. My fiance wants to come see me in June and by that time he should already have packet 3 received and hopefully returned to them. What I'm concerned about is the question asking if you have been denied entry to the U.S. That's not happened yet but if it does happen this time (praying it doesn't) I know that it will definitely be brought up at the interview. I assume they would obviously see that the dates on packet 3 would be previous to his attempted trip and if he is denied entry he can just explain that to them at the interview and be ok?

I would go see him in Canada but there is just no way for me to work that out, unfortunately. :(

I swear there is not one thing in this entire process that doesn't stress me out. :(

  15. Now that I've seen online, that we've got our NOA2, I'm assuming that my fiance will be getting packet 3 in the next few weeks. I've read several times on here that Montreal is very particular and that they want him to fill out the forms that they mail directly to him, and not any downloaded from the government website. This may be a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyway. So, I assume they want the forms completed in his own handwriting and we just hope that he doesn't mess them up and that they're legible? Is this correct? Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.
