  1. Hi all,

My husband had his testing & interview on 5/31/12 and he passed it. The paper the interviwer gave him stated testing approved & a letter comes in the mail for the decision... My husband said she was talking very fast and writing a lot of stuff down and when he asked her to talk a bit slowly she said she was running late, which she was late. His interview was @ 7:45am but she didn't come to get him 'till almost 8 & I think that's why she was going so fast. She asked for his 1st GC (the one for 2 years) & we didn't think about for him to take that one with him. Was this something we missed and we should've taken the GC to the interview? Did eveyone took both GCs to their interviews? It's been almost 3 weeks and we haven't received anything and no updates...

    Thanks for your time :-)

Well, forget about my last post, just got an email today that says "On June 21, 2012, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que." hoooray... So glad :-)

    Take care everyone.

  3. Thank you all for your responses and support.

All went well, thank goodness. I went to the bank at 8:30am while my husband went to his appointment. The bank manger came about 8:40 to get inside, I got out of my car and talked to him and he said no problem, let him open the safe and he would come and get me. He came back in 5 min. I went in got his GC and texted my husband that I'm on my way. I got to drive for 5 min. and he called me and said I didn't need to go. They let him have his biometric done without his GC. They said is Ok, his ID was sufficient. He told them I was going to bring his GC but they said tell her she doesn't need to come. We were both so happy.

To "nwctzn" good question... he doesn't feel comfortable keeping it at home. He has a copy with him. He thought it's better to keep all our documents in the safe deposit box. I guess now we know better

Glad all went OK... Thanks again everyone... Good luck to all of you. :star:

  4. I made a terrible mistake... My husband has his biometric appointment tomorrow 4/23 @ 9am. When we received his letter, I didn't read it very carefully. I saw Photo Identification and I though all he needs is his ID and the letter. But now I just read the letter and it states he has to have his GC with him. His GC is in the safe deposit @ the bank which opens at 9am... I'm thinking he should still go and show up for his appointment. I'm going to go to the bank around 8:30 and if anyone is in there I am going to beg them to let me in to get his GC and take it to his appointment. I just hope I can get there in time. I can't believe this has happened and I've made this foolish mistake. Anyone think they won't let him in at all without his GC 'till I get there?

  5. Hi Yasi,

    Congrats on your approval!!

    1) Could you share with us all the docs you sent for RFE response?

    2) You mentioned in one of your postings, that the RFE envelope was small. Did you fit all the docs in RFE envelope or did you send all the docs in a bigger envelope?

    3) How did you send the RFE response, regular mail, certified regular mail or priority mail?

    Thanks and enjoy your approval!!

    Best

    Thanks yeye...

For the RFE, I sent our old apartment lease with both of our signatures on it, our move-out paper from that apartment. I sent 4 pictures of our wedding and celebration in Iran with his family, copies of PG&E bills from 2008 & 2009 (didn't send too many just every few months), again 2008 & 2009 taxes filled jointly, again copy of title of our house we purchased together, copies of bank statements since I added him to the account (not all of them just every few months), and also we had the registration of our marriage with the consulate of Iran translated and included. I don't think this was so much necessary but we wanted to proof this is for real. Most importantly, I wrote a one page letter explaining what we were including to the response of RFE & the fact that we are happily married and have been living together since the first day of our marriage. Really emphasize on that... that you have been married from such a date and been living together and these are the documents to back up your statement.

As for the envelope, since all these wouldn't fit in the small envelope they sent, I put everything in a big envelope and taped the small envelope to the big envelope (where you write the address where the packet is going)... I sent it first class mail, certified and return of receipt. This way you can track it easily and find out when they receive your packet.

Hope this helps and good luck.

  6. I really thought we get my husband's card or at least the welcome letter this past Saturday. But no... there was nothing in the mail. We responded to the RFE on 3/8, which the post office missent our packet and was delivered on 3/14 instead of 3/11. What's taking so long... We submitted very good evidence. I really hope his card comes soon.

Congrats to all who got approved and got their cards. Pray for all of us who are still waiting to get it soon.

  7. Approved and card received!

COOL... So happy for you. This gives me hope since we got an RFE too... We sent our package via USPS mail on 3/8 and they messed up. They delivered it to Newport Beach then tried to deliver it ysterday but the office was closed.. DUH it was a Sunday, of course they are close  Suppose to re-deliver today. I hope we get a fast response too.

Congratulations Merrill & to all the others who have received their GC.

  8. Sorry to hear about your RFE. We just got approved last week. Here is the list of items we sent in. I hope they help.

We sent originally most of the documents you have listed... Taxes for 2008 & 2009 were included... The only thing I didn't send them was a copy of our old apartment lease.

We put a bunch of stuff together... more bills for the past 2 years, copy of our lease, copies of driver licenses, pictures and a letter explaining everthing and the fact we don't have any children. We mailed it yesterday.

Keep your fingers crossed for us.

    Thank you,

    Yasi :star:

  9. Did you get to speak with someone today? If so, was it helpful? My husband called USCIS today regarding our RFE and the person he spoke with was completely useless. They didn't have any actual information about my case there. The guy was just reading the info we had already received in the mail about which documents we can send. But when my husband asked him what specifically was missing, he wasn't able to tell him. He said these RFE's just get sent out sometimes for no apparent reason. He advised us to resend everything we already sent plus anything additional we can think of. We can also schedule an infopass appointment if we really wan to know why we received the RFE, but that means a 2 hour drive to Milwaukee. I get the impression that they sometimes just pick random cases for RFE's and you and I were just the unlucky ones. From your post, it seems like you sent in even more than we did and you still got an RFE. It makes no sense! So... we're just going to resend everything plus maybe some affidavits and proof that we traveled together. That's all I can think of that we haven't already sent.

Hi, no we didn't get a chance to call today. We're going to tomorrow morning. I keep going through the papers I sent and am trying to see what else I should send... A member in another thread that I had started gave me some good advice. He said since probably I had stated we purchased our house in 2010 and sent recent bills, the bills had our current address and not the previos one. He said I should send a few bills for every few months. We have put bills from the last couple of years together plus our lease from our old appartment. 2 things we're still contemplating is one the REF clearly states "do not send what you have already submitted for evidence". Should we send them again or don't... second thing is they sent us an envelope to submit our evidecne and it's a regular size envelope that it's difficult to get everything fit in it...

Also, did you send copies of your driver license... I read somewhere that some members had sent copies of their DL... we're going to add copies of our DL too.

Best of luck... hopefully after we have everyhting together and send them in, we both get approved quickly.

  10. I think this is the problem. You bought your house in 2010 and sent evidence only of having utilities, insurance, and such in both names recently. You do not need to send bills from every single month for the last two years, but you do need to send a few that generally cover the entire period of your marriage. What we did was send copies of the earliest bills in both names and copies of at least one bill for every 3 to 4 months in between. We did the same thing with bank statements.

If you have not saved utility bills from the beginning of your marriage, I don't think it will be a big issue as long as your apartment lease shows that you lived there together since the beginning of your marriage. If you did not save bank statements, ask someone at your bank to write an affidavit for you stating that you opened a joint account on ___________ date.

The list of different types of evidence they've requested is an auto-generated list, so I wouldn't worry too much about the fact that they are asking for something that is inapplicable (children's birth certificates). To be safe, however, it would be a good idea to address that in a cover letter, just mention that you are not enclosing children's birth certificates because you do not have children. Sending pictures can only help, not hurt, but they are generally seen as secondary evidence, so it is not really that critical.

As far as the envelope, I have no idea on that one. I hope someone else can help.

Best of luck to you, Yasi.

Thank you. I think you're correct. I only sent bills for 2010 but not for 2008 & 2009. I'm working on printing and putting together few bills for each year with both names on them.

Your post helped a lot. It makes a lot of sence now.

    Thanks again,

    Yasi :star:

  11. Yasi,

Did your online status say that you have and RFE sent or anything? I think you must just send any other evidence and write a well described letter basically to tell them politely that you have sent all the papers that is humanly possible and what they are asking is ridiculous , of course I would not word it such ;)

LOL... I know what you mean... No, I just tried our receipt # on-line and still doesn't show... When I called about why our receipt # doesn't show, I was told it's the on-line system...

I just keep thinking should I send utility bills, insurance bills, etc for the past 2&1/2 years... that just is too much. This is ridiculous and frustrating.

Thanks for responding... it helps a lot to read what you all say and get ideas.

  12. We received an RFE today and it totally ruined my weekend. We sent a copy of the lease agreement for our house, copies of health insurance card, car insurance, life insurance, bank statements and 2008 and 2009 tax returns as well as pictures of the two of us since we were married. The RFE includes a lists of documents you can send in, but we sent them everything short of birth certificates of children born to us (we don't have any), loan agreements (we don't have any loans) and utility bills (because they are still in only my husband's name). Seriously, a copy of a utility bill can't mean the difference between being approved or denied!! I don't know what else they want from us. I'm all worried now...

Same thing happened to us too... we got an RFE Saturday and we're so disappointed. Stardust, we there with you... We submitted our taxes filed joinly for 2009, copy of title of our house we purchased together, copy of last utility bill, insurance (car & health), joint bank account, letters from friends and our auto loans for both of our cars (joint)... in the letter we received it states evidence "from date of marriage to present"... do they want us to send bills for the past 2 years, all taxes filed since we got married, our old lease (which was provided @ time of interview for the first GC)... we don't have children and they have asked us for birth certificate even though on the application to remove status we stated we have no children... what else could we send them? We're planing to call USCIS tomorrow and hopefully can talk to someone who can shed more light on our situation.

Also, we didn't get email about our case or this REF and our case number doesn't come up online and once we called USCIS in January, we were told everything is OK and our case is pending. The receipt # is OK and the problem is with the on-line system. It took them 2 months from biometrics on 12/29 to tell us they need more evidence... so not fair.

    Thanks for reading,

    Yasi

  13. Thank you for responding... I think it is very strange. We purchased a house together and all the other evidence we submitted I thought was enough. I also thought that I should only send the last (current) bill for utilities, insurance and etc... that's what I did... I'm wondering now if I should send copies of bills for the past 2 years with both our names on it??? We laso submitted letters from friends... Should I have included pictures too?

One more thing, they sent a small envelope asking to send all the evidence in the envelope porvided... how am I to fit all these paperworks in this small envelope? Should I send it in a bigger envelope???

We're very confused and can not come up with a good reason why we've been sent this RFE... Like couple of you mentioned maybe they overlooked some of the evidence we provided...

    Thanks again.

  14. Hi all,

    Need some advise please...

We received a RFE yesterday from USCIS... this is what it states:

"EVIDENCE FOR GOOD FAITH MARRIAGE: In order to assist in establishing your eligibility for removal of your conditional status, it is requested that you submit additional documentation. Please submit any or all of the following documents. This list is not all inclusive of the type of the evidence that may be submitted for consideration. please DO NOT resubmit copies of documents previously submitted as evidence.

    * BIRTH Certificate: Please provide a copy of civilly registered birth record for any child(ren). (We do not have child(ren) and this was stated in our application.

    * RESIDENCE: In order to establish for removal of your conditional status, please submit evidence of communal residence from the date of marriage to the present that show your and your US Citizen spouse's names. Such evidence may include but is not limited to the following:

_ Copies of Rental Lease(s) or rental agreement showing joint tenancy at a common residence signed by you, your spouse and the owner(s) of the property (or the property manager) from your date of marriage to the present.

_ Copies of utility bills such as telephone, gas, electric, water, cable, etc. or other statements issued in both names indicating the residential address from your date of marriage to the present."

The evidence we submitted originally included the following: Gas & electric bill (both names on it), car insurance (both name), health insurance (both name), 2 letters (as requested for evidence) from friends attesting to our marriage and relationship, copy of the title of our house purchased on 04/08/10 (joint), 2 car loans (joint), taxes for 2009 (filed jointly), and joint bank account.

At the time I believed these were enough evidence. I am getting more together to send. I'm sending a copy of our previous lease from our apartment and the move out paper work that shows we moved from our apartment. We only had 2 residences together, the apartment and the house we currently live in. What else should I sent that shows "from our date of marriage to present"? Apparently that's what they are asking for.

Sorry for the long post. I appreciate any help anyone can give us. My husband is very disappointed since he was hoping to go for a visit with his family end of this month.

    Thank you,

    Yasi

  15. Hello everyone,

I haven't posted for a long time. Now here we are back again :)

We sent my husband's docs to remove conditions on 11/3/10 to California Center. We got our NOA1 on 11/15. And the biometric letter followed soon after (can't remember the date right now). It was scheduled for 12/29/10, which hubby attended.

I have tried to look up his case but the receipt number doesn't come up. On 1/19/11 I called the 800 # that was on the letter. First the lady who I talked to couldn't find the receipt # so she transferred me to another department. After waiting for exactly 58 minutes, we were told they have his biometrics and it's pending. Also, she said the receipt # is good and the issue is with the online service. Mind you the receipt # won't work on-line or thru the phone automated system. I tried it again last night & again stated invalid #. Has anyone have had this issue? I am getting concerned. Any thoughts would be appreciate it.

Good luck to everyone and congrtas to ones who got approved and/or received their cards.

  16. You have my prayers.

I'm sorry I was late :crying:

I'm glad that you were with him. God rest his soul (what we say in my country when someone passes on) (F)(F)

    Hi Guys,

I know many of you know my father has been very sick. Well today we were told he has liver cancer. It's spread all over his liver and it may have spread other places. The specialist has given him any where from 1 week to 6 months and I'm just numb. I can't believe this is happening. He's my best friend not only my Dad. I can't imagine my life without him in it.

They can not do chemotherapy as his liver would be affected more plus surgery is out of the question at this point.

Just need prayers for our family and good thoughts. I feel like this year has been one hell of a ride for all of us.

    Annie
