Im sorry for your pain but it is apart of procedure. I too had to wait and even after clearance they didnt immediately tell us of the clearance approval. Please know that im sure that all will be ok its just for security purpose. Just be patient alot of us have gone through simuliar experience. I learned the hard way and after thousands of dollars that a lawyer is almost no good to you at all except for advice. the true fact is that a lawyer cant make thing progress any faster. We are all in the waiting game. My now husband came on the K1 visa also. So ask away if you need to and stay strong, BarbSami
Thank you BarbSami for your kind words
. I'll try to stay storng. Sometimes it gets evry hard. I thought he be here by now.

It's my case that's been sitting in NVC. If they don't do anything with it, why then are they holding on to it. NVC told me it still hasn't gone to the American consulate in Frankfurt. How long does a background check take?

Out of curiosity, why do want to know? How could you check your status on their site?

Hi All,
I met my fiancé a year and half ago in Germany and we got engaged last year Jan. '05 in Hamburg
. When I got back to the States, I applied for K1 visa in late March 2005 (by the time I got all the documents together it was end of March). I received the 1st notice on April 14 and the second notice that the I29F was approved in California on May 04, 2005 and was sent to NVC. Since then we are waiting and waiting. My lawyer and I have called number of times to find out what's the hold up and NVC tells us they're waiting for his background check that has to come from Washington. He has had no problem in Germany. I had him get a police clearance and brought back with me when I was there again this past January to make sure he has nothing in his records and he is clean. My lawyer suggested visiting the congresswoman in my area and I have. (I gave her staff the clearance report with copy all other records) I'm waiting to see what her staff can find out. It's been so frustrating. I never thought it would take this long. It's close to a year now that our case was sent to NVC.
Does anyone has a similar experience? Any suggestions? We could use some help. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone can give us.
Thanks

I'm with you all (who are waiting). It's so hard at times. Last year when I saw him for the third time, it was a year from our 2nd time together. I keep wondering when I see him again. I miss him so...
