  1. USCIS doesnt accept mtl case numbers, I dont think, since you get a new number when you get sent to the consulate and since you arent dealing with USCIS anymore and you are with the consulate its more likely that you would get better information from emailing them, if its very urgent you could try calling them but their page on VJ states that they dont take phone inquires only email ones. I hope you can get everything sorted out quickly.

We have been in contact through e-mails, there is nothing urgent right now sinc the last of thier requsts was signed for this morning. I was sure there was a way to track with the MTL but it have been the WAC and EAC that me confused.

    Thank you very much

    Ron

PS. There is nothing to add to the time line as yet.

  2. Montreal doesnt accept calls for case updates and they dont have any online case check, thats USCIS that has online case check but this is the Montreal email - you have to have your MTL case number for them to do a check for your case and it has to be in the subject line of the email.

    Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

your timeline hasn't been updated since 2007, might want to update that if you can. If that is correct tho 2007 is a long time to be waiting without word from MTL or contacting MTL wholy cow!

I was sure that Montreal had a site for checking our progress with the MTL number, will g to the uscis site then.

I've been through Montreal and then Vermont and now am back at Montreal, sent them thier last requested form yesterday. I think it is seeking approval from Vermont to approve the visa.

Thanks very much, I was definately looking in the wrong place.

    Ron

I will check the timelime it should be up to date

  3. Been away from Montreal for so long I can't remember how to get case updates. I have searched the consulate web sites which I am sure was where the search could be done but with thier updating of thier site I'm totally lost.

    Thanks

    Ron

  4. MARM, I wish thing were better and easier to understand. Sharon's mother is not well and 98 years old, we lost Sharon's father almost a month after we were told I had to file a waiver. It took a week of calls, faxes and UPS before I got permission to attend the funeral. Right now can't afford the waste of time trying to get the passport from the consulate and deal with the border folk.

They have had it about 4 weeks another 2 weeks and I'm asking again.

  5. Three weeks ago they asked me for documents, a new medical and passport because my I-601 was approved. This week they asked for another form to be filled and a noterized letter of intent, well sent it all off yesterday and asked for the passport back since I'm back in AP in case I need it urgently.

The way I see it is if they send it back it will be a long wait, and if they keep it it could mean a few weeks give or take.

  6. I'm about ready to go out a buy a flippin wetsuit. I' also about ready to kick some butt if I hear it's 85 so nice and cool, I'm not sure we made it above 60 yet.

Here in Ottawa it will warm up when parliament gets back to work, it will be like living in Arizona.

  7. Well Joe, be glad you don't know what a I-601 is, it's like a minimum 12 month guarenteed AP. I guess for me it was a training session leading to the real thing, this AP.

I have been reading a bit and see that people get thier APs right after thier interview all I got was a I-601 and I did get an AP but that was dropped quickly after I wrote to the Director, one thing you don't do is tell a 25 year sober alcoholic that you smell booze on his breath and put it in his file. The I-601 was for a 33 years old conviction.

P.S. my interview was in August 2007

  8. Here we go again, you can add us to the list of people in AP as of July 22, 2009. Ron/Sharon.

It's official after going through the I-601 process and being approved they have decided that an AP would be good for us.

First they ask for form DS-221 to be filled yet it is not available to the general public, I was thanks to a memeber here was able to get it and fill it and will be send it shortly along with the requested noterized letter from the petitioner stating she is aware of the ineligibility for conviction of a crime involviinig moral turpitude and she still wishes to pursue the marriage.

    We were give the following:

This office regrets to inform you that it is unable to issue a visa to you because you have been found ineligible to receive a visa under the following section(s) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The information contained in the paragraph marked with "X" pertain to your application. Please disregard the unmarked paragraphs.

    (X) Section 221(g) which prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigrtion and Nationality Act. or regulations issues pursuant thereto. The following remarks apply to your case:*

Petitioner aware of ineligibily and willing to marry; and FormDS-221 with item numbers 1 through 19, 21, 22 and 24 completed on each copy.

  9. The inmates have taken over the asylum. This makes me want to go out and buy the biggest bottle of Burbon and drink until I can interact with them at their level.

Just got this wonderful e-mail from Montreal.

    Good Morning

I will put the forms in the mail to you today

    Please complete and return

    Operator 4

I replied with a "this form is for internal use only to be used by someone who knows nothing to someone who hopefully knows more".

This is beginning to be totally insane.

  10. Confirmed by the Consulate through an email to me stating:

Yes you may send it by courier . Please remember to use your case number when contacting this office.

So I am definitely sending it by courier to this address:

    General Montréal

    Location 1155 rue St-Alexandré

    Montréal, Québec

    H3B 1Z1

    for courier deliveries

And I'm sending them a short letter inside stating my case number so nothing gets lost or tied up with issues. Maybe I'll even include the front page of my packet 3 just as an extra precaution.

THANKS RON/SHARON for letting me know about this. I really appreciate it.

    United States Consulate General

    1155 rue St-Alexandré

    Montréal, Québec

    H3B 1Z1

Remember to track the package and get a signature which will be on the tracking site and printable for your file.

    You're welcome

    Ron

  11. I am sorry to bug in. I just checked the case status at USCIS website. It is approved. I quoted the status.

    Receipt Number: WAC0900851515

Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On June 16, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

    Am I missing anything here?

I am in USCIS mess myself. Hope you are fine now.

Can you please update your timeline?

Also, it is not a good idea to put your actual case number on a public forum.

The case number belongs to Art Bell and not Ping78. Stay with the program.

  12. http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/co...;document=index

maybe i'm misreading but it says no courrier delivers? i'd email them to be safe and ask...

Try this one, you will have to scroll down a bit. You will see in the box on the right two addresses the fisrt is locationand at the end it is written for courier service or something like that, and the second address is for mail.

  13. So Ron/Sharon, you had no problems sending your checklist and DS-230 to that address you provided for me?

If thats the case then maybe I WILL send it by courier. Please let me know.

    Thanks very much!

Anything and everything I send and have sent to Montreal was send through UPS and I have never had anything returned. Always ask for an e-mail confirmation with the signature and track your delivery.

    All the best to you

    Ron

  14. Ron/Sharon good luck to you both. I have been on VJ for years and have seen your struggle and do not understand the waiver process that much. I know about the AR/AP since my husband was stuck in it at the USE level. Thanks for the update from Laurel Scott's website and hopefully someone can help advise you. All the best to you both.

    Mary

Thank you Mary, in my csae the CIMT wasn't a CIMT after all and the 601 was in effect a useless exercise which just won't go away. I hope you and your husband are through or close to being through with everything USCIS. For us we are just getting through the first part of this multi part process, I hope the OAS doen't take three years as this has.

Than you for the first post here it was the one that lead me to finding the info from Laurel Scott.

    Ron

  15. The following is from Laura Scott in reply to someone else.

Laurel: I see this happen a lot - the consular officer tells the applicant to fill out the DS-221, Two-Way Visa Action form. It appears to me that this form is intended to be an internal document to be completed by the consular officer. For one thing, one of the questions is whether an approval is recommended. For another, its not available online except in poor quality copy in the Foreign Affairs Manual. Whenever I see a consular officer asking the applicant to fill that out (DS-221), its a Red Flag to me that the consular officer doesn't know how to accept and process an I-601.

  16. Form DS-221 (Only for K1 and K3 visas) is a waiver form. I googled it and a copy from another embassy is online at this location. You might want to see if you have been given this form with the information from USCIS or contact DOS and ask on how to obtain one. Good luck.

Thank you very much MaryandMian, Sharon had looked last night and I have been looking all morning and must have passes right by it. Immigration is like snakes and ladders, a few steps up and then a few down.

    Again Thak you very much.

    Ron
