  1. Well then Ron, are you sending EVERYTHING back then? If so...please let us know how this pans out! Best of luck!

Definately need to return it to have it put together properly, I don't want to find out the problem would be if I brought everything to the airport as it is now. The person I spoke with sounded very serious when he said "we will have a problem" what he said wasn't said casualy, it was more like if it isn't right you're up the creek without a paddle. That tone definatly does not need any second thought.

Now I have to photocopy everything to be sure it's all there when I get it back.

  2. Everything went well regarding the interview yesterday, Sharon was happy with it. That is two down and one to go. She is taking a weeks holiday starting today adn they will call to set up the next and last interview, She was told yesterdays was the toughest of them all.

    Thank you much

Just got back from the airport to see if they would do things right regarding my paperwork from Montréal.

I explained what had happened without say Montréal wanted everything back and was told to send it all back to Montréal bcause Montréal is DOS and they at the airport are not. What I was told very slowly and definately clearly so there would be no misunderstanding was "if we look at your package and everything is not in order or was opened there is going to be trouble". I guess it is time to comply with Montréal's request or get one hell of a sermon or denied entry later on.

I'm about ready to change my Tums for Demerol don't feel no pain with them.

  3. I haven't yet sent anything to Montréal, the first thing I want to do is go to the airport and see if they will accept everything as is or if they require that it all be seperated and sealed. If they suggest that it be returned to Montréal I will do that. Krikit, I'm sure that the only reason they want it back is that if presented as is they would look bad.

Sharon is studying for her interviews coming up tomorrow and the last thing she would to know is that Montréal is acting up again, she has to much on her mind right now.

Carla, I am flying down, my car is there it is an american car which saves on paperwork and Sharon is driving both of our vehicles. Yes Sharon is quite excited, so is her daughter and grandchildren.

What interviews is she studying for Ron? Best of luck to her!

She was offered her own store to manage with Chritopher and Bank but before accepting or refusing thier offer she needs to pass three interviews, one was done last week and another is today and the third could be anytime after todays interview

  5. Hi Ron,

After all that you guys have been through, I'd be really cautious about sending everything back to them. When do you think you're going to be activating the visa? I'd seriously consider what trailmix said. Either ignore them completely, and just send those things back to them after you've activated your K-1 and are in the U.S., ignore then completely right now, or just send them back what you think you shouldn't have. You should have your visa, and your passport, that's the part that I don't know that I'd send back to them...why do they need THAT??

Let us know what your decision is, and what transpires!

Obviously we haven't yet been through enough, as long as I have my tums and Sharon has her meds we will survive. If only I knew they wanted everything back so they didn't look stupid when I showed up at the POE with the package the way they sent I would keep it, but by keeping it there may be problems at the POE or further on down the line.

I was going to activate the visa at the end of November and I'm not changing that date just yet. I will send them what I think is thiers and if anything is missing they can ask for it.

  6. I'd almost be tempted to just drive there myself and see if I could sort it out in person, so at least they didn't have the power to delay things anymore.

I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. I'm worried that they will prolong everything buy claiming I did something wrong, thier passing the buck.

  7. My question is was this an error and if so can I bring everything and have the embassy or the POE officers at the airport in Ottawa sort through what I have and repackage everything or should everything be left as is.

    Thank you

I think you should do exactly as the notice/letter/email asks - it doesn't say (correct me if I'm wrong) that you can just let a CBP officer at the airport do this for you.

The first two lines of the post are thiers requesting that everything be sent to Montréal and that is what I will do. the problem is I have no idea what all was in the package they sent. What I did recieve from them was the brown do not open envelope and very many loose originals and photocopies of our documents. The thing that boths me now I will have to send them everything and pray they return to me what they don't need or want.

  8. :wow: Please return ALL documents, envelopes that you received and your passport to us. We will review the contents and mail you your visa packet and passport back. Provide another Xpress post envelope to mail you back your visa.

Subject: VERY IMPORTANT Documents received with Visa

    Importance: High

    Case Number: MTLXXXXXXXXXX

    Name (P): XXXXXXX X XXXXX

When I received my visa 2 weeks ago I was more interested in the passport and the visa to notice that with the documents I requested be returned (original document) there were other documents that maybe should not have been included.

When I opened the mailed envelope (outer) the was inside a brown envelope marked do not open this I expected but there were also many other papers many were originals that over the past few days I have been separating and placing within my package of originals when I found the following (a record of IBIS Query (ROIQ)).

My question is was this an error and if so can I bring everything and have the embassy or the POE officers at the airport in Ottawa sort through what I have and repackage everything or should everything be left as is.

    Thank you

  9. I wrote to the ombudsman and the Director of DHS and got the typical no response reply, the first said nothing we can do and the second replies with a history of our trip which we already knew about since we lived it and they stated that our "A" number was our visa number which of course it isn't.

The ombudsman replied within a week and the director forwarded our package to customer services and they replied 12 months later. Neither one addressed the issue of there being a ####### masquerading as an officer in Montréal.

    Ron

  10. Interesting view into the immigration process, but agree with Kathryn41, you should offer them back as part of the file, I think they would only release these pages as part of a separate FOIA/FOIPA request which has its own forms/process (and takes about a year)...

There was nothing really to these document other than showing the manner they proceed and the end results. Anyone can with no thought at all can figure the process, the one thing that can't be figured is the end result.

    Ron

  11. I have never heard of this happening before. It sounds like those are documents that were supposed to be contained within the 'do not open' yellow folder. I wonder if the Immigration officer sealed up your envelope, then realized those should have been added and was too lazy to re-open the envelope so put them in the cardboard container instead. The only other possibility is if they think you had a FOIA request for those documents so included them.

Regardless, you might want to make a photocopy of them and then 'offer' them back in case they are supposed to be with your file.

    Thank you Kathryn

After reading the top page more closely I am sure they were not meant for my eyes. What I didn't read before because the font is very light was "For Official Use Only" Do Not Distribute Beyond DHS without Prior Authorization for the Originator. What it is , is (Record of IBIS Query - California Service Ccenter. Time to contact Montreal

  12. Is this normal? When I received my visa last week it was not in the envelope I had supplied, it was in a cardboard envelope and within the envelope was the do not open envelope which was much smaller that I thought it would be considering everything they wanted. Beside the do not open envelope there were loose papers, some were the originals that I requested be returned but with them were 28 pages of name checks that were done in 2006 in California at the beginning of our process. 2 of the pages were for Sharon's maiden name and her present name, the other 26 pages are mine, I have of course a family name, I also have 5 other initials which were checked in many different combination.

My question is, is it normal to have received the name check documents and if not has anyone else have this happen to them.

  13. I never filled it out. I actually called up revenue Canada and asked, and that rep said it was NOT a must! So why bother with more useless paperwork, lol Now cassie's "accountant" said she HAD to do it! I think he got his degree from the back of a shreddies box though, lol

I think I went to the same university as Cassie's accountant. I think it is much better to not do the NR-73. I"ll ask my daughter also, I love her very much but she's a very low level bureaucrat at CRA in International Taxation so if anything goes wrong it will be her fault.

  14. What is advisable? fill the NR-73 or advise CRA when I file the tax forms for 2009 that I'm gone, byebye?

I've read that filing the NR-73 was not necessary and it gives CRA the chance to refuse non-resident status for tax purposes depending on the answers to the NR-73 Questions, and that it was better to file the a tax return for the current year and never file another return ever again.

    Thanks Ron

  15. Thank you everyone for your wonderful thoughts and comments. Yes it was a tearful day yesterday, as Sharon said She didn't know whether to laugh or cry so she did both, as for me well I'm still to numb and it will only sink in when I have everything in my hands, this could still be a trick of theirs they did pull one last July when they asked for the DS-221.

As many of you know this for us was a long voyage and the last two years were the worse, the waiver took 12 months and it was approved and there was a 5 month break because of many family difficulties on both sides and in that time we both became ill and both were operated on, Sharon was out of work for almost 5 month I had a stroke and then fractured my hip and was out for 2 months. We were in AP for 755 day then luck was on our side we moved from AP to AR and were there for less time than we thought we would, only 34 days of a usual 4 to 8 week period.

As for the immediate future, Sharon will still be visiting but not for the labour day weekend but the week after for a longer stay so she can meet some of my family which I never gave her the opportunity before as I always went to Kansas and she never came here. I am going to continue working here for the next few months and leave on December 3. There is no date for the wedding yet but it will be in 2010 in Manitou Springs Colorado.

The game isn't over yet just the first round, but the rest will be much easier to take since we will be together.

  16. Right now the best I can do is say thank you all for the congratulations, thoughts, wishes and everything coming our way. There hasn't been one day that as we prayed for ourselves that you weren't included. When we first started I had one wish and it may have come through, that wish was that everyone who filed before we did got thier visa before we did and it may just of happened and if so I am glad and if not we are still praying for you for a quick exit and a move forward to AOS for all.

    Ron/Sharon

  17. Well it has happened, after 1078 days they called to confirm my address so they can send the approved visa package out today.

I can only thank everyone for thier support and appologize for not being supportive in return.

    Ron

  18. Good Morning Lona, it is strange, and I doubt it is a cake they want to send, more like another dose of frustration only they can portion out. We have gone from strong to a bit less than that but we are still very determined and never thought of giving up. We can take the BS as long as we focus on the end results. I have called and left where I can be reached, hopefully they will call here and not at home.

Hi Carla, I was wondering if anyone in the process had ever gotten a call from the Montreal consulate because I don’t remember anyone saying they had received a call from the consulate in the past. They did leave a number but as you know they don’t answer their phones so I left a message for them to call me at work and if I don’t hear for they in the next few hours I’ll tell them to send an e-mail.

AS for Sharon spending the holiday weekend here that is still up for grabs since has to apply for a new passport, when she moved she packed the other one to well and can’t find it, she should be able to get one within three days according to the people she spoke with, and if not she will take a weeks holidays and still be here but a little later.

Hi Krikit, they didn’t have much to say as you read above, just that they were from the Montreal consulate and their number. I am waiting for a call from them and hope they call me at work since I’m here before they get to work there and leave hours after finish. I don’t know why they called and it can’t be good.

  19. It was short and it was sweet. "This is the american consulate calling for Ron" end of call.

Have any Canaliens ever have that happen? All other communication between myself and the consulate has been by mail and e-mail. Anyone care to venture a guess as to what they want?

    I have two guesses.

    1. They will deny I returned my passport.

    2. Due to my age they will want a hugh deposit "insurance" for possible future medical expenses.

I am sure they don't call to say congratulation you made it, and they don't I'm sure call to say numbnuts you fail but there is good news and bad news the good is you can stay in Canada and the bad is you can't come to the United States.

August 9th was the 3rd anniversary of our interview, maybe they just wanted to say happy belated anniversary.

    Have a good day everyone

    Ron/Sharon

  20. So, if we're really polite and nice to her...maybe she'll be nice too? :(

I'm going to be SUPER organized now...I'm scared. T_T

Go with the knowledge of what you read here and be prepared for anything, if you do that you have half the battle won. Be calm cool and collected and if anyone is to be frustrated let it be them.

  21. The ####### that I met at Montreal a slightly heavy set blond named Debbie. She was very impatient and also the one that noted in my file that I had been drinking before the interview, that got me a 221g very quickly.

I reported that one to the CIS Ombudsman and the Director immigration at the time Emilio Gonzales.

  22. We planned to marry in July of 2007, we filed in September 2006 the interview was August of 2007, this is August of 2009 and we still are waiting for the visa with no end in sight. So you never know what is going to happen or when, now we don't plan anything that involves dealing with the Government of the US of A. Stock up on Tums and Kleenex and hopefully you will never need to use them.

    Ron

Plan for your future but don't plan the wedding just yet.
