My wife tried to set up an infopass appointment to get a stamp in her passport, even though her letter doesn't expire until October. She's going to visit family for a couple weeks, and she thought a stamp would be more "secure" than the letter (even though she's used the letter before with no problems). Anyway, she received a call from USCIS today saying she couldn't get a stamp until a month or less before the expiration date of the letter.

This is for the San Francisco USCIS office. Just thought I'd share this info.

Exactly what happened to us but they told us two weeks not a month. This was in Milwaukee, WI.

Additionally, we will issue new Form I-797 receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents whose Form I-751 or I-829 was still pending as of June 11, 2018. Those Form I-797 receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on petitioner’s Permanent Resident Card. https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/update-form-i-797-receipt-notices-form-i-751-and-form-i-829

**So, who gets the new letters and who don't?

I wish I knew. The officer was extremely cryptic-he refused to confirm anything. However, the other officer near him said he recently saw the FIRST copy of the 18 month extension letter, implying that they are still really rare.

  3. We just had a infopass appointment because my husband wanted to get the extension stamp in his passport. He is traveling for an extended period. They refused to give us the stamp until two weeks before his green card expires (October 31). He also told us the 18 month extension letters are slowly being sent out but it does not mean everyone will get one. All in all, he didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know.

Anyone have a similar experience with the passport stamp extension?

  4. Hi,

I received an email this evening from NVC Research stating that they have finally received my case. I will be calling tomorrow to double check and hopefully get the case number. The email stated:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

We recently received your visa petition. We will send NVC processing
instructions within 4 to 5 weeks. Please resubmit your inquiry if you
have not received any information after 5 weeks.

    Sincerely,
    Jess

Has anyone received anything similar? I am a bit skeptical and very anxious to call tomorrow and double check!

  6. We were approved October 22nd and I wondered the same thing. If there was a major mess form those of us approved 22/23/24. I don't know what to believe I have been told by different IOs that my case was at CSC and at records center.

I'm glad we are not alone in this. Hopefully all of us can share good news soon of our cases reaching NVC. Honestly I'm not expecting any news until after the first of the year.

I was approved 22nd of October as well, through CSC-still nothing. I have put in a service request last week but waiting to hear back. I have also contacted my congressman and hopefully that will be some sort of help as well.

  7. Howdy, I believe we're in the same boat. I've just done an e-request {https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do}

I'll be giving them a call in a few minutes as well. I'll be following this thread for sure! Thanks for posting!!!

    *** I-797 Notice date: October 24th. (mis)Handled by CSC ****

    Hi,

I just tried to do an e-request and it didn't allow me saying that my case was still within the frame of expected processing time. Mine was approved on October 22nd. What date did you put when you filed?

  8. I think I've been crying every day since I hit the 42-day mark. :)

My fiance tells me I have control issues, because I do get supremely frustrated by watching people speed through the process. And I tell him, "Really? Control issues? I didn't have that figured out by the time I was five."

Well I found this thread only last night and because of I literarily didn't go to bed till 5:30 am. I was shaking. I haven't started crying yet because it really helps knowing I am not alone in this situation! Haha! I guess some of us are just a bit luckier than others... :crying:

  9. I had called December 8th to NVC and still the case hasn't arrived. The NVC rep I talked to between 6 and 7 am said I was the 4th person with NOA2 dates of October 22/23/24 that she talked to in that hour and none of our cases have reached NVC.

I called the same day, just a bit later. No news. There is a ton of people here who got approved a month before us and still don't have a case number. There is definitely some sort of hold up and its extremely frustrating! Please keep me updated if you receive ANYTHING!

  10. Ah, good. I didn't mean to sound short with you. I'm all for helping, but I struggle with hand-holding. Know what I mean? :D

We opened a second service request with a Tier 2 just before Thanksgiving, too. This was the guy who told us our case file was sent to National Research Center instead of NVC. He told us the same thing, that if we hadn't received our case number by mid-December, we should call again.

The question is how many times do we have to call before we find resolution? All of our I-797s are due to expire in January. What then? Do we have to start all over? No one wants to answer these questions or tell us specifically where our files are.

And that is the most frustrating thing. There needs to be some more transparency in this process.

No problem! I just read your new thread and I am definitely going to follow through with the steps that you have done, tomorrow (service request and contact senator). I know I am ONLY (lol) at 42 days (I don't think the panic and frustration is comparable to your situation just yet), but when I see people's cases sent over in a week or two after approval, it really makes me anxious!

  11. What have you done to figure out where it is? Have you read this thread?

    Hi,

Yes I have read it all. Seems like I am in the same boat as the rest of you. So its been seven weeks exactly; I have called NVC around 10 times and USCIS twice. The last time i spoke to a tier two agent at the USCIS, which was the week before Thanksgiving, he confirmed that my case was indeed still with the USCIS and not sent to NVC. He said they send them in bulk so thats why and that "they are sending them soon, can't tell me exactly when but NVC should have it by mid December. If they don't, I should call them back."

However, it seems like a few others that got approved around the same day I did have no news either. I am really hoping for the best and for things to pick up any day now!!
