Hello everyone, I need some guidance with regard to how to answer the Question # 18 on I-864EZ form. Below is our situation.
My wife (USC petitioner in our case) is a High School techer. She will be signing a 5 year contract soon. She gets paid Bi-monthly, meaning 24 pay checks in a calender year. Her new school year starts August 1 each calender year. Which means her bi-monthly pay check figure changes after August 1 each year. I am not sure how to answer the Question # 18 asking her annual individual income currently.
I have read a lot of posts on this forum saying multiply the before tax bi-monthly salary by 24. But the issue is her Bi-monthly salary changes during a calender year and we would know exactly how much she would be making for the next 3 years as the teachers union is trying to negotiatie salary with Admin Office for next 3 years.
So my question is, what should we put for question # 18 asking her annual individual income currently:
A) Simply multiply her current bi-monthly pay check with 24 and assume she would be making the same money after August 1 as well (which would be a wrong assumption)
B) Multiply current bi-mnthly pay check with 14 + bi-monthly pay check multiplied by 10 (number of paychecks after August 1).
We also plan on getting a letter from her school district stating her current annual income on official letterhead. I doubt they would wanna put the number suggested by option A above as it wont be the right income for the current calender year.
Oh and I forgot to mention that meeting the 125% poverty line isnt an issue here coz she makes above poverty line currently.
Thanks and hope I have explained my situation clearly here.

Hello, I know I am probably over thinking this, but it is generally said to not leave any fields blank in I-864 or any of its variants. Issue is, I do not have a middle name. I left it blank in my I-130 petition and it didnt cause any issues. Wondering if I can leave it blank in I-864EZ as well, or should I put something else? I have come across people suggesting to write "None", but I am worried that they may think this is my real middle name. Thanks

My medical exam was on 4/23 but report itself is dated to 5/4....
- visa issued 5/18/2015, expires 11/17/2015
- medical exam report dated to 5/4/2015 (valid till 11/3/2015 - six months)
- must enter to the US before 11/3/2015
Got it. Thanks

Yes, got it made from UC, and you're right, it doesnt say NADRA. I just thought tht logo was of nadra Mine says "Govt of Sindh Pakistan" and just below it says 'Birth registration Certification". Half side is in english and the other half is urdu. It has a stamp of UC.
Yea that sounds like what I have.

Reply from embassy:
Quote: Yes, you are correct. You must enter the U.S. before 6 months after your medical exam, so before 11/3.
Not sure how the embassy came up with 11/3. Your visa expires 11/17/2015 while the medical exam expires 10/22/2015.

So I was just reading on Affidavit of Support on USCIS website. Under where it states which individuals (applicants) are required to submit AOS if they are relatives of US citizens under one of family based preferences:
- First Preference: Unmarried, adult sons and daughters of U.S. citizens (Adult means 21 years of age or older)
- Second Preference: Spouses of permanent residents and the unmarried sons and daughters (regardless of age) of permanent residents and their unmarried children
- Third Preference: Married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens, their spouses and their unmarried minor children
- Fourth Preference: Brothers and sisters of adult U.S. citizens, their spouses and their unmarried minor children
First of all, adult sons and daughters are first preference, and are higher than spouses. Second, it doesnt list clearly where spouses of US citizens fall. Am I not reading this right? I thought spouses would be first preference, followed by minor (under 21) sons and daughters of US citizens. Can someone please explain. Thanks

I see why OP is confused. I read somewhere on this forum to have a valid (not expired) medical exam reports at POE. Is it not mandatory?
-
No worries, i got computerized english birth certificate by Nadra made on urgent basis from my local UC office, and will be receiving it tomorrow. Thanks grad_student for letting me know about this
I got mine from UC office as well. But I dont think NADRA is involved in issuing it. It says Govt. of Punjab on its top. If you wanna be sure, you can upload a pic of your new birth certificate to make sure if you got the right one.

You can't do option one as you already have a SSN.
Go with option two and wait couple of days after POE and then go to your SSA office. They'll send you the new card (same number) without restrictions. Yes, your stamped immigrant visa serves as a green card until you get yours (after paying the $165 fee).
Not questioning your knowledge or credibility, but how do I know this for sure? Is it listed any official DOS website or something like it? Thanks for the info though

Do we have to send copy of NIC aswell in the IV package? Please respond as its a country specific question and i dont knw whom to ask!
No. Just a copy of your current and valid passport, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. Did you make sure to get "English" birth certificate from union consul?

I would have been married to my lovely wife for more than 2 year by the time of POE in USA. So I should be getting IR-1 and a 10 year Green Card. I was a student in USA earlier and already have this restricted Social Security Card that says "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" on it. I plan on getting a new Social Security Card after entering USA. I have been going through thread here and have a descent understanding on how to go about it.
As far as I understand, there are two ways I can get an unrestricted Social Security Card. First, I can "check" yes in the DS-260 from where it asks if I need a new card issued. Average wait time appears to be 3 weeks after POE. But I have read many threads of people not getting the Social Security Card through this method. It appears that it is hit or a miss. They have to go to a SSA office to get a Social Security Card. Assuming if I answer yes to the question asking if I need a new Social Security Card issued and I actually do get it, it should be an unrestricted one, right?
Second method is to select NO in the DS-260 for the question asking if I need a new card issued. Then after POE I can walk into SSA office and apply for an unrestricted Social Security Card. If I go this route, how long after POE do I have to wait to go to an SSA office and apply for an unrestricted Social Security Card? And do I need the wallet sized Green Card that comes in mail about 4 - 6 weeks after POE for it? Or will the Machine Readable Immigrant Visa (MRIP) stamp would suffice to get an unrestricted Social Security Card?
Right now, I am leaning towards going second route. What would you guys suggest that which of the two routes explained above should I go?
I understand it doesn't matter if I get an unrestricted Social Security Card as my current restricted Social Security Card along with the stamped MRIP will be enough to get a job. But I would still have to inform SSA about my change of status from student to LPR.
Thanks in advance

No there wasnt anything wrong. I may have mistakenly said that I have had tuberculosis in past while in fact it was a severe case of bronchitis. I do not remember saying it until one of the doctors at the student health center made an indirect comment about it. Just wondering if they will be able to figure that out. And what should I do given the situation explained here?

I was a student in USA and lived there for about 5 years before returning to my home country (Pakistan). I will be applying for IR-1/CR-1 visa in near future. I am wondering if NVC or US Embassy will look into my medical records and reports for the duration I was in USA? Asking out of curiosity. Thanks

Hi Sohail how was ur Poe at Abu dhabi plz let me know I'm traveling next month on spouse visa
I would also like to know how does Abu Dhabi become POE on a US immigration forum. POE generally refers to POE into US here.
-
First off, fill your timeline up. It will help others offer you better advise.
I would recommend not buying her a ticket to US. You can never predict the time it will take before she has visa in hand. I would also recommend not buying a return ticket for yourself. Changing dates for air tickets is expensive.
Get here medical about a month before the interview date. Good luck. And please share your experience with the rest of us.

And….
Did you mark "Not available" OR "Not Applicable" ?
I havent been to interivew stage yet. But I am not planning on getting it. Mark "not applicable" against it.

~~moved to USCIS service centers from IR1/CR1 process and procedures~~
A lot of IR1 who are sent to CSC and VSC are people who are residing together abroad and thus are unofficially auto-expedited.
Abroad means US or any foreign country?

They gave him his results in a sealed envelope to take to his interview. The envelope is to be opened only by the consular.
Wondering if the results from the medical exam are always in a sealed envelope as a rule? Or does it vary from country to country?

Been reading a lot on this site to get ready for next steps in the process. I have a quick question.
I am wondering if the Document Cover Sheet from the NVC Welcome Letter is included when sending in the AOS and IV packages, are we still required to send the AOS bar coded cover sheet? Thanks
-
There is a bar coded sheet generated for the AOS and the IV, but they are the same.
Is that really true? Wondering coz this is the first I have read about it.
-
Sorry...Gonna make a seperate thread. Have already been guilty of hijacking thread here

Hey
did any of you get away with not including a police certificate in ur IV package? Im really confused. I have read it on the official website but i thought why not just add it in there. But its taking alot of time! and this is the only thing that is holding me from submitting my documents :/
I would recommend skipping the Police Clearance Certificate and submit your documets without it. It shouldnt create any problems in the visa process.

In addition to all required forms and supporting documents (like tax transcript, etc.),
we also sent in...
1) Join accounts (savings, checking, credit card, debit card, etc. )
2) Added her to my health insurance
3) Made her beneficiary to life insurance, IRA, 401K, etc.
We are living together, so we didn't send anything like pictures, chat logs, etc.
You sent them as part of AOS (Affidavit of Support) package or what?
-
Ok thanks a lot. I stand corrected now. Thanks NLR and j&ana for the correct info.
Current Individual Annual Income for School Teacher (salary changes August 1)
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures

Her contract doesnt states her salary for all the years. Just the year she signs the contract. Like if she signs a new 5 year contract this summer, it will only say here salary for Academic year 2014-15. For rest of the years, she would be getting a "salary notice" around late July.
We wont be sending in our AOS and IV packages until around this time next year. And salary notice for academic year 2015-16 wont be available when are sending in the AOS and IV packages.
