  1. I wish I had time to take on such a responsibilty. I work full time plus commute to work takes 2 hours (someitmes more) each day for me. I would be willing and more than happy to share this responsibility if someone else is interested as well. Any takers here please?

I personally think that the wait game after submitting AOS and IV packages and anxiously waiting for Case Complete is as stressful of a period in the application process as any other. And knowing what scan dates NVC is working on and how many more days before your turn comes for Case Complete would be very helpful in terms of relieving the general feeling of anxiety for those going through the process.

  2. I have couple of questions about I-864EZ form that I will be submititng in few months to NVC.

#1. Instructions for I-864EZ clearly state to type or print the form in black ink. But I am not sure if USC petitioner types or prints form in black ink, how would NVC know if its the "original" AOS form or a copy?

#2. I-864EZ form has a lot of fields that do not apply to our case, such as interpreter and stuff. Rather than leaving such fields empty, I intend to put "N/A" in those fields. But as you know, the I-864EZ form does not allow special characters such as / for an input in any of the fields. I am planning on asking my USC wife to fill the entire form handwriting it rather than filling it on computer. Wondering if that would be fine? Dont really wanna get checklisted by NVC.

    Thanks a lot

  3. Police Clearance Certificates are not required from Pakistan. Clearly stated on the US Embassy Islamabad website. I have seen multiple cases from Pakistan for Immigrant Visa being approved where applicant did not provide PCC since it is not required. This questions comes up often here.

  4. So I browse through VJ on weekends coz thats the only time I can spare time and energy to read posts and learn from. I feel like the idea of sharing your timeline here with others is great, and keeps everyone from feeling isolated and depressed.

I feel like dwheels76 is doing a great job at maintaing the CC to Interview spreadhseet. Cannot thank you enough for all the effort you put into that spreadhseet.

Spreadhseet is a great way to read and analyze timelines of multiple people as it follows a neat and clean format and all the info is on the same webpage and you dont have to bounce between several pages to glean the information. With that being said, I feel like this community should re-start the Scan date to CC spreadsheet. The latest one was started by rgarciasantos but this spreadsheet appears to be dead now. And I was very sad when I saw it wasnt being updated anymore.

My understanding is that now we have a monthy thread in place of this spreadhseet whihc is labelled NVC Filers - Month Year. I personally feel its much easier to glean info from a spreadsheet as compared to reading posts in a thread where discussion tend to digress at time. Do others agree with me on this point?

    Thanks

  5. Just a quick question. Your wife's 2 year home residency requirement isnt over until March 31st 2016 or March 31st 2017?

Submitting DS-260 does not formally execute visa application. Visa application is not formally made until the applicant is interviewed at US Embassy. And currently, NVC is taking about 40 - 45 days to give you a case complete, and then inteview date is few weeks (depending on embassy work load) from the case complete date. So if your wife's 2 year home residency requirement is over on March 31st 2016, you would wanna proceed with submittine DS-260 and AOS and IV packages.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Yea but am I required to have originals for documents included in AOS package or not? I know to be on the safe side I should.

Sorry my above post was vague. I plan to send copies of petitioner's teaching contract as well as a copy of letter from the employer (petitioner's school diatric) as part of the AOS package.

My question is, am I required to have original teaching contract as well as original letter from the employer at the time of the interview? I am the beneficiary btw

  7. Her immigrant visa, once endorsed and stamped by CBP upon her initial entry, serves as temporary evidence of LPR status for one year. She can use it to work and travel until that year expires, and after that needs to have her plastic green card.

Just to add to the above post, the pne year starts from the day immigrant enters the US. So if it has been less than 1 year since your wife entered US, she should be able to enter USA.

  8. What was the address you listed on the I-130 form?

The reason why you need to inform if you've moved to a new country is because NVC needs to determine the case number and US embassy depending on the country.

For example if you filed a form saying you live in UK but you moved to Pakistan without informing them, they'd assign your case to the London embassy and not the Islamabad embassy.

Is the case at NVC now? If so, you'll need to send them an email and not USCIS.

Should have included this info in my original post. I put down my address as the one I was living at the time of filing the I-130 i.e. the USA one. But I did put my address here in Pakistan under the "address abroad" and did put in the I-130 petiton that I will be applying for a visa abraod at the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. My case is now at NVC stage and is also being assigend to US Embassy in Islamabad.

Additionally I plan on putting my address here in Pakistan on DS-260 and I-864EZ form.

So do I still need to inform USCIS of me moving from USA to Pakistan?

  9. I (the beneficiary) was in USA at the time of filing the I-130 petition. However, I moved back to my home country (Pakistan) before the I-130 petition was accepted. I was reading through the Spousal Visa EZ Guide here on VJ and it says the following under Important Notes:

"There is no need to notify the USCIS of the beneficiary changing addresses unless they move to a new country."

This makes me think I should somehow notify USICS of moving back to my home country. Am I right in my presumption? If yes, how can I notify USCIS of me moving back to my home country?

    Thanks for reading!

  10. You write: see attachment. Then on an attachment sheet you write the ENTIRE address. Do not write just part of an address.

BTW I know you are the beneficiary but this form is for the petitioner not the beneficiary. You need an original signed I-864 for interview so the petitioner will need to print, sign, and physically mail back the I-864 for the beneficiary to take to interview. In reality this address will change once you arrive in the USA and nothing will be sent to it.

Ok great. Thanks for the pointer. I was leaning towards writing part of address there. Now i know better.

Also, my USC wife doesnt has much time to prepare for immigration stuff, so I do the leg work and tell her what to do. I do understand she needs to sign it. But I thought the original was supposed to be mailed in to NVC as part of AOS package, and beneficiary takes a copy of it to the interview.

  11. Had the same problem. Left the line blank when I printed it, then hand wrote the address in.

My whole address will not fit in the box in item 2.b even if I write it by hand. So here are my three options. What do you guys suggest I should follow?

    1. Try fitting as much as possible in this box and put the rest of the address that doesnt fit in item 2.b in Part 2 at the end of the I-864EZ in Part 9 - Additional Information

    2. Try fitting as much as possible in this box and then put the enitre address in Part 2 at the end of the I-864EZ in Part 9 - Additional Information (whihc would mean the part of the address that fits in item 2.b. Part 2 will be written twice, one in Part 2 and once in Part 9)

    3. Leave item 2.b. in Part 2 empty and put the enitre address in Part 2 at the end of the I-864EZ in Part 9 - Additional Information

You can leave it blank and hand write OR you can put an attachment that has your entire current address. the red circle is for the APT, STE, or FLR number/name which applies to some types of housing. Do not continue you address here unless you already have that in your address.

For instance if you live in apartment 201, 4321 Uptown street. then you would write

    4321 uptown street

Check the APT box. and write 201.

Yea my address doesnt include apartment or floor or suite number so that box will be left empty or may put "N/A" in there.

  12. Was going through I-864EZ that I will be filing in next few monts, and have couple of quick questions about Mailing Address for the Intending Immigrant required in Part 2. I am the intending immigrant btw. I have attached a picture of the relevant part of I-864EZ form for your convenience.

#1. My home address is kinda long and wont fit in the box/space provided in item no. 2.b. I was initially thinking to put the rest of it in the box below for item no. 2.c. (which I have circled in red in the attached pic). But after having read the instructions, I think I am supposed to put my mailing address (that wont fit it item no. 2.b.) at the end in Part 9. And the box I have circled in red in the attached pic is to put down the Apartmrnt/Suite/Floor number in case it applied to you. Am I correct in this assumption?

#2. If I use Part 9 to put my mailing address (that wont fit it item no. 2.b in Part 2), should I put only that part of the mailing address that wont fit in item no. 2.b. in Part 2 or the entire mailing address?

  13. To greenfield, I am going throgh the same situation. I also had J1 visa to US with home residency requirement (HRR). I even filed the I-130 petition before leaving US for my home country which was approved later. So it wont be an issue to start the process. You can prolong the process at NVC by intentionally delaying the submission of the documents. You have one year to take each step at the NVC, so that wont be an issue.

One thing to rememebr, your fiancee's 2 year HRR will start when the DS-2019 expires, that may be way after she leaves US for Brazil. Just so you know.

    Answers:

    1. The process can begin as soon as you are officially married. You would need to submit a photocopy of the marriage certificate with your forms (marriage license is useless since it doesn't actually prove you are married, only that you are allowed to).
    2. You will submit a petition to USCIS, not an application. They will not deny the petition if the HRR (home residency requirement) date has not passed. She will even be able to interview prior to the HRR being over but no visa will be issued until the HRR end date passes.
    3. Yes she can travel on a visitors without adversely affecting the process or extending the HRR if she already has one. If she does not yet have one and wishes to apply, the chances of it being granted are next to nil (refusal of a visitors visa would also would not adversely affect the immigration process or the HRR).

I agree with what Ryan H said above, other than his response to #2. I emailed US Embassy here in Islamabad and I was told that I need to have fulfilled my 2 year HRR at the time of interview or have a waiver for it. Which makes it sound like they will deny my visa application if I schedule my visa interview before completing 2 year HRR and also dont have the waiver (which is impossible to get in my home country).

Ryan H, do you care to explain the source of your info? It would be great if I can have my visa interview scheduled before my 2 year HRR is up so I can leave for US as soon as it is up.
