    N-400 Online Submission - Will notifications be via email or mail?

    Hello everyone,

     

    I am planning on submitting my N-400 online in near future, and facing a unique situation (will keep is short). I already had an online account with USCIS and then we moved to our new house in 2018. I did submit an online AR-11 (Change of Address) form within 10 days of move and received confirmation number via email.However, the online USCIS account still shows my old address as my mailing address.

     

    I am worried any notifications during my N-400 online application will be sent to my old address. I have two questions regarding N-400 online submission:

    1. Will the notifications/letters be sent via email to my USCIS account or through USPS mail during the N-400 application process (like notification of biometric appointment, etc.)
    2. I off-course will put my new address as mailing address on the N-400 application. So, will any (if any) USPS mail be mailed at my new address that I write on N-400 application or the old address that somehow is still showing at my online USCIS account?

     

    I called USCIS earlier today and the call representative said all letters will be sent to the address I put on N-400. But I do trust advise from VJ more.

    congratulations to all of you who got their visas and good luck for who are waiting....

    after 5 years of plain admin processing embassy asked me to submit form ds 260

    please guys let me know what documents are required to submit with form ds-260

    DS-260 is an online form filled on CEAC website. You do not need any documents to submit this form. The documents need to be mailed to NVC. But since you are already at embassy stage, not sure about the documents. I would email embassy about the documents. I hope you get your visa soon.

    I am curious about the updates on your case. Have you been checking for updates on your visa status i.e. status updated date. Has it changed a lot in the past 5 years. Or has it not changed at all until recently?

    Passport renew question-islamabad embassy

    I am not sure if embassy allows to renew the passport a month before interview. I did email them but they sent me 2 responses. One was that if his visa is issued same day, he has 4 months still. In the same response they said that "passport should be renew before 2 months of visa issuance" which is why I am asking this.

    I am most likely going to have his passport renewed in urgent days rather than normal.

    Isn't medical valid for six months? Does it matter we do Oct 3 rather than Oct 15 or 20?

    We live in lahore so he is going to get it done in lahore. It takes 5 days to get the results.

    I was under the impression that embassies require atleast 6 months of validity on the passport at the time of applying for visa. I didnt know the 2 month rule.

    Medical is valid for 6 months. Does not matter what date you have your medical exam. All that is required is that you have it with you when you go for visa interview. Generally, the goal is to have is done close to interiview so if the case goes to AP, medical does not expire before AP is over and visa is issued. Otherwise you would have to get a new medical exam done.

    I would call the medical place and ask them how many days they take for the medical exam report to be prepared.

    Oct. 3 is kinda early to get the medical done if interivew is on Oct. 31. I would suggest to renew the passport as soon as possible (go for one with 10 year validity) and get the medical exam done around Oct. 20.

    Which city will you get the medical exam done btw? I got my medical exam done in Isb on Monday, and had the medical exam results in hand by Thursday the same week.

    P.s: going witht the current passport is not an option since it expires sooner than 6 months from the interivew date.

    Thanks, ISL Embassy was closed from 12-14 I believe, and then they resumed their business Thurday the 15th. The first update I got was in the morning USA time around 8:45 am. The ISL embassy was indeed closed at that time, the second and final update occurred when they opened back up Thursday which was last night for us here in US.

    That makes sense. Thanks for your response. Do you rememeber what time the visa got issued? Just trying to make some sense of this AP black hole. Also, I am assuiming you are in Eastern Time Zone in US, right?

    Hello everyone!

    Here's my experience of AP process (221G white slip given after the interview of my husband at the ISL embassy)

    Case is CR1 (Spousal Visa)

    -Interview was on 18 August

    -CO told my husband to wait a month and he will hear something from them, no approval or good news was given at that point but the AP white slip.

    - First 3 weeks no updates

    -Only 1 real update on 13 Sep then on the 15th status changed from AP to ISSUED in the afternoon. :rolleyes:

    -Our AP was resolved in 3 weeks and 4 days, thankfully it took less than a month.

    -I wish all of you the best, it is only a matter of weeks and the good news will come your way. Don't email them too much, just be patient and keep on praying; stay strong for your spouse as this could be quite tough for both partners; as I've already experienced it. Inshallah everyone will get it soon. :thumbs:

    Congrats on the visa. I am not sure about it, I was under the impression that US Embassy Islamabad was closed from September 12 till September 15 on account of Eid holidays. If you got visa issuance, doesnt that mean it was working day for US Embassy Islamabad on September 15?

    Hi there I am new to this forum!

    I applied for J-1 visa and interviewed on 22nd October 2015 and since then my status stuck at "administrative processing". I mailed to embassy many times but they replied always with saying "wait and be patient". If anyone has any suggestion regarding my situation kindly help me. I applied for J-1 exchange visitor category on a scholarship from my country's higher education commission, there is no unusual situation and no objection on my case and it is my first time to apply for any country's visa.

    I am sorry such a long delay on your visa. Are you going to US for studies on Fulbright scholarhsip?

    US Embassy Islamabad off for Eid. How many days?

    I would think September 11th-15th. That's the days the Riyahd embassy is closed for Eid.

    I hope Islamabad embassy puts it on their website the days they will be closed. Eid here in Pakistan is on September 13 btw.

    Hey there guys,

    My wife's visa is scheduled on sep 12 and i too am wondering if it'll go as planned because when i call the embassy in islamabad they say that they're "NOT SURE" if it'll be closed or not and they would tell me a day or two ahead. If they knew that eid falls on the same day why would they schedule an interview? That's very unprofessional.

    Please help me out if you have any news about this because the embassy people are still "not sure"

    Mine was on 9th August, had a couple of Soft Last Updates, like around 4 till now but that does not matter bro, i tell you its all fanda :)

    Just wait and pray. everything happens for a good reason.

    Just stop counting days. put a reminder in your mobile calendar for 12th October for start getting worried.

    2 months are average for AP. So relax buddy and good luck

    Can I know the dates for when your case got updated? I think getting updates is a good sign.

    Nope don't remember the exact time as the CEAS does not have the time slot, i usually check when ever i get time off, so can't tell you the exact time. although let me tell you this that NVC has nothing to do with it anymore once it reached Embassy, our Immigrant cases are approved, Although it can be the name check, Internal Affairs, State Department, Local Background Check.

    Just pray that it does not get delayed at any relevant department.

    What is your interview date?

    Had my interview on Aug. 12 and case was put to AP. Only one update so far. How many updates have you gotten since your interivew btw.

    VJ inaccesible from Islamabad Pakistan for about 3 weeks now

    Hello everyone,

    VJ has been inaccesible for vast majority of the time in the past 3 weeks or so. I would say out of 14 or so hours I am awake, it is accesible for about 2 to 4 hours. Otherwise it just doesnt load up. Like I have typed in a wrond web adress, which I have not coz links are bookmarked. And no, its not an issue with my computer. I have checked it on two different computers in the house and 3 smart phones. Issue appears to be with the internet connection and not any of my devices. I just keep trying it all day and its a pain to be able to get here these days.

    I am wondering if others accesing VJ from Pakistan are also facing the same issue? I have PTCL broadband by the way. A friend of mine told me yesterday that PTCL servers have been facing issue for 3 to 4 weeks. I am wondering if anyone has any info in this regard.

    US Passport size photographs required for IV package?

    I sent passport photos in because I had them, but I'm also going to tell my husband to bring some with him to the interview. But what about this?:

    I don't see "Photographs" on my checklist. Is it possible you have an older version?

    It's my understanding that "unavailable" is for documents the beneficiary is unable to obtain at all, such as police certificates in some countries or birth certificates in certain situations. Not for things you just don't happen to have.

    It is possible the NVC has updated the list in the "checklist". Do you mind uplaoding a pic of the checklist you got from NVC? Thanks

    DS-260 reoccurring error

    I had the same error come up for my form as well. I think its some sort of bug in NVC system that shows up in some cases. Give it few days and it should get resolved itself. I think in my case it fixed itself after 2 to 3 days. And I think it appeared a day or two before weekend. So give it couple of days not including the weekends. Hopefully by Wednesday of coming week it would have fixed itself.
