  1. I had same situation.. Applied for name change ages ago.. They say it will take up to 4 weeks to check.. After 2 months of waiting, I decided not to bother with calling, just go to the SS office again (with the first letter again). The clerk was quite moody.. Said like you need to do it again, though he said in the system application already done, so someone just didn't send it or it was lost in mail ( I didn't know what happened). Now he done same thing again, and said wait for 2 weeks.. Still waiting :) and he was trying to convince me that my name not changed in the immigration system.. Interesting how if I have GC with new name, and their system let change my surname too (what would be impossible if it won't be changed in immigration system ) .

  2. If she has pink glasses on you can't do much, and if you try to ''break their love apart'' she will trust you even less.. Tell her that you support her, but you are worried.. Don't say that she is stupid to trust him, or that guy only wants you because of visa (it hurts that your friend thinks that you can't be loved). Make her trust you, and than you can share your concerns with her.. Don't make plans how to get rid of him, just think about something to create security net for her.

  3. The point is that petition eventually will expire while you on drug ban, what's so hard to understand here?? Starting new petition just to have process going is not an option, actually it shouldn't even be approved because of the drug use and ban. I guess you thinking it's good to have petition going because when ban is over you can carry on with already again started petition... So your advice to start next petition straight away doesn't have any real arguments and is misleading, and I was commenting only this part, not all post, which has no sense for me ;)

  4. You can change your name as soon as you applied for AOS (so they have your new name in the system), and you still didn't stay here longer than 90 days, after that you can only change name with GC (or EAD). Still worst part no matter you have SSN already and have permanent resident status, they still need to check something :D and you might need to wait for new card up to a month... annoying.. Though they give you receipt of name change, and you allowed to work while you waiting for card with new name, I was even able to keep my old card till I get new..

Fastest and easiest option for name change is applying for AOS with new name..

  5. Did you already book? If not, Icelandair lets you have 2 checked in bags + 1 carry on + 1 personal bag included in the ticket price. You have to pay for food but if you really want to bring a lot things over, Icelandair is awesome.

Norvegian has same, I had 2 checked bags, 1 bag pack as carry on and personal bag where I kept things like phone, my BIG envelope, documents, wallet and etc. And if talking about food, I'm glad I didn't bought dinner on board, the one they served for 25£ didn't look very appetising. . I just made some chicken salad and didn't starve during the flight. Overall I like Norvegian, because they offer really nice fares, and it was quite good, knowing it's budget flights.

  6. What I'm doing is studying all these online courses I can find (like alison.com). Next step as I finally getting my GC is get in National guard, go to boot camp :) In NG I want to get job related with my preferred carer, and do some studies online (found some nice universities). And of course start working in my preferred area as someone told from the bottom :D maybe it's a silly plan, but sounds good for me :) I have some diplomas from my home country , but nor sure if they mean something here :)

  7. Your GC is being produced too? Congrats! I was watching your timeline because you are in Dallas too, and I seen a November filer from Dallas get their GC issued within two months too! Man, you just had your EAD approved, didn't you?

Yes it was strange for me that they making both cards, because when I will get my GC , there is no need for EAD, and it was literally hours between both updates. But it doesn't matter now. Finally we can start living normal life :)

  8. Moving to USA gave me opportunity for a new start. While waiting for work permit, I had plenty of time to think what I want to do next.. In UK I was working in production field, but it's not the thing I want to do here.. I want to start carer in totally different area, to do what I like.. So my question is: is it hard to start from scratch? how you prove employers that no matter you don't have needed experience you can be a good employee for them? Now I'm doing some self learning and planning to start studying when will get my GC.. Does anyone have same experiences and have any advices?

  9. Yea It's probably a lost cause to apply again... Oh well looks like K1 it is.

hmm sorry but from this comment looks that he wasn't so intended to return after friendly visit.. I guess you were planing to get married while he was visiting and then apply for AOS skipping some fees and a lot of waiting time.. It just my thoughts... no need to feel offended :)
